Iam currently working on my ORPG, but now i ask: What means ORPG? O is for Online/Open but most, ORPGs are just: Go, kill all monsters, return, get Level ups and mighty items. But thats NOT  RPG the most important part of the name ORPG. So, i ask you:

:fp:What do you want for your favorite ORPG?
Tell me:

damn, everything i typed disappeared....

anyway, i want some day/night system.

day - like any normal day, its just that simple
night - day monsters hide, go in their houses/dens/caves. night crawlers appears. NPC's sleep. players need to sleep or they collapse.

be in the state of insomia - either 1) be a night patrol or 2) get your ancestral genes checked. if 1, you do some stuff for the night patrol and if you've succeed, you get to be a night patrol that doesn't need to sleep. if 2, you get to ask the "seer" to check your ancestry, then he asks you for stuff like buy a ring, book, look in for tomes, texts, scripts, kill a monster and get a part of it, dig someone's grave, or put your blood in a special bottle. He'll either say yes, you have a special gene running in you, or no, you're just a human. it's a big price to pay, and the changes of having a great ancestral blood is low. though you get to choose if you want to be a human or tap into something your genes have.

other options beside the given - you can look for a cult or a guild or a tribe or a clan. these will permanently turn you into one of them, thus not being able to sleep permanently, unlike tapping into your genes.

all heroes starts as villagers. females also.

jobs -

jobs has certain jobs for different genders.

normal heroes - has secondary jobs

Warrior(footman model), turns into Follower of Sin(human arthas model)/Lone Warrior(undead arthas model on foot)(male)
Mage(sorcerer model), turns into Chakra Wizard(jaina proudmoore model)/Elementalist(this model)(female)
Archer(night elf archer model), turns into Hunter(same model)/Ranger(alleria model)(female)
Combat Fighter(human villager with blue shirt model), turns into Kickboxer(this model)/Berserker(this model)(male)

ancestral heroes - has no secondary job but can turn into human again, which means they can sleep and choose a normal job, but only stays at the first class of that job(ex. forever warrior). and their gene tapping could only make do of little memories left in their genes, thus also staying only at the first class of their secondary job.

Vampire(lower dreadlord model and this model)(both)
Werewolf(this model)(male)
Cultist(acolyte model and banshee model)(both)
Satyr(brown satyr model)(male)
Assasin(demon hunter and the dota lanaya model)(both)

Special (which means you only get this in a particular time or while wearing a particular item)
Dragon Warrior(this model or a blood elf lieutenant turning into a bronze dragon)(male)
Daughters of Mael(night elf runner model and huntress model with no shield)(female)

cult/tribe/guild/clan heroes - they don't sleep, but you won't be able to return to normal after this. though the benefits are good. this jobs takes loads of hard work, some might think of it as a chance, but it'll only require a high level to do so.

Bandit(bandit model), can turn into Bandit Lord(bandit lord model). (male)
Satyr(brown satyr model), can turn into The Corrupted One(this model). (male)
Cultist(acolyte model), can turn into Lich(lich model)(both)
Assasin(demon hunter and dota lanaya model), can turn into Shinobi (no change)(both)
Centaur Warrior(centaur warrior model) and Dryad(dryad model), can turn into Warchief(centaur warchief model) or High Dryad(some butterflies flies around her). (both)
Vampire(lower dreadlord model and this model), can turn into Vampire Lord(dreadlord with tattoos model) or Queen of Suffering(succubus model(?)) (both)
Werewolf(this model), Can turn into Children of the Moon(this model) (male)

job specialties - what jobs has and why get them

normal heroes -

Warrior - for one, they're tanks. always the ones that are always picked. though their skills are just standard ones, once they turn into a "Follower of Sin"(Sin is actually a code of law that they need to obey that was written by someone named "Sin". he can be seen "and" killed in the dream world. it was very short and simple, "kill the non-believers") which has skills that boosts their strenght by almost 10 fold(wow) though weakening their defenses, it's still a great job to use, considering almost all enemies can die in 1 hit. Or when they turn into a lone warrior, surviving the strongest of damage (which was practiced from their never ending journey to the harshest of climates) while dealing a decent amount still.

Mage - women are the only ones allowed to cast magic and tap mana in their bodies, though there are still the "Order" which is consisted of aged men(around 300 years old or something), there's no other men that can tap into their mana pools and cast magic and not get apprehended. These women are taught how to tap mana cause they have a more "Weaker" desire than men in magic. deals instant large amounts of damage, but is pretty frail. But when they turn into a Chakra Mage(which uses stronger mana/a more purer class of mana), they pretty much turn into a DPS caster because they enchant their weapons. But if they choose to be an Elementalist, they play with nature, summoning creatures and doing magic stuff (4 spells per element).

Archer - Men wield swords while women wield bow and arrows. And that extra range gives them a little edge in fighting. Their weak bodies cannot sustain that much damage, but being able to kill enemies from cliifs is a good thing at start and when they turn into a hunter they can tame a Griffin and ride it, enabling them to fly. But if they choose to be a Ranger, their damage will increase by alot, and they'll be able to fend for themselves long enough to at least kill a boss.

Combat Fighter - A very fun job i can say. just mashing enemies with their fists not needing any weapon at all and being able to sustain a decent amount of damage. Then when they turn into a Kickboxer they can counter attack targets and do fatal attacks. And if they choose to be a Berserker they can attack at rapid speed that can kill anything in a matter of seconds. (berserkers can use weapons, kickboxers don't need one)

Centaur - has 4 legs. if you're a male, you're pretty much a tank that deals mammoths amount of damage. and if you're a girl, you do ranged attacks and support(which means heals).

cult/tribe/guild/clan heroes -

Bandit - You can steal, hide, and when you turn into a Bandit Lord you can steal more, hide more, and lead a faction. Not that strong but has alot of tricks under it's sleeves.

Satyr - their crescent blades only carve death on their foes. dealing alot of damage and evading alot of attacks, it's a pretty good job. And then when you're "Chosen" to be The Corrupted One.... Who knows what your crescent blade will carve next? (or just tap into your genes and be a low satyr)

Cultist - some sort of a wizard, but can summon monsters and casts skills that damages over time rather than dealing instant ones. can also suck life from the living. And when they turn into a blood worshiper, they turn into a semi vampire type of job, stealing health to survive. though their means of stealing health is different. But the good part is summoning more and more and more and more.... (gene tapping is an option to be a lower cultist)

Assasin - fast attacks, can hide, does one hit kills, blurs when attacked, who doesn't want that? too bad there's only "1" assasin that can teach you how to do it.... and that "1" assasin, that is also the one that can turn you into a shinobi, is either in captivity or hiding.... somewhere.... (or you could just be a plain assassin by tapping your genes)

Vampire - can steal life. deals normal damage and has above average speed. Then when they turn into a Vampire Lord they can transform into bats and be invulnerable while in stone form. And like the assassin, there's only "1" vampire, hiding somewhere. And that vampire will pass on to you his Throne and turn you into the next lone leader. (or just gene tap and be a plain vampire)

Werewolf - a dying breed, but still known to have alot of members. you can find them almost everywhere, though it's easier to look for them at night(seriously, who'd ask someone on the street "hey, are you a werewolf?"). they're like vampires, though they eat the corpse of their enemies to gain health again. abit stronger and faster than the vampire. And when they turn into a Children of the Moon their strenght and speed increases more, though they only turn wolves at night, unlike vampires that can stay vampire forever. (you can gene tap and just be a plain werewolf)

Special

Dragon warrior - a endangered clan. they were killed for abusing their strength, and their numbers are almost down to a hundred. tapping humans genes to know if he might be a descendant of the dragon warriors was prohibited for a millenia until people forgot all about the possibility. though there are still some left, they were all just males that were living until now, forever in their dragon forms. all the breeders were killed. but still the possibility of having the genes is still there. Dragon warriors were men who can turn into dragons, and their strength is second to non. though it's not that likely because you're only tapping your genes, you can still take a beating and kill maybe a boss with the right equipment and at max level, not even needing potions.

Daughter of Mael - These women are said to embody Mael herself. by tapping their genes, they can turn into the violet skinned beauty that can tame even the fiercest of jaguars. while unmounted they do strong melee attacks like an assasin and while mounted they throw glaives that can penetrate even the strongest armor and bounce off to targets. a strong warrior able to finish off a whole area alone with their multi targeting attacks..

Why Men cannot be Mages - It happened 300 years ago, The war of Old and New. The war was known to be the shortest and most dangerous war in history. But the war was only won by 5 men. and all of them are still alive, they are the so-called "Order". It all started a guy named "Sir" started training young men into magic, which is chosen from different places. everyone chosen was strong, strong enough that their bodies were absorbing only mana and consists of only mana. they were new, but their strength is enough to destroy a whole town in just a matter of minutes. Then the "Order" interfered. These 5 men who were once 6 now fought the one traitor along with his strong, new magic casters. If seen by a normal person, the new ones and "Sir" would win, but even "Sir" himself knows that even if these new ones are trained for a hundred years, they won't have a chance to even lay a strand of hair at the "Order". But wanting to see it himself, he lost in a matter of seconds, from one flicker of a hand, all of the new ones lost all of their mana, and after that, the large amount of mana stored by the new ones were too much that it combusted by itself thus killing "Sir" and his legion. no men besides the members of "Order" dared to tap into their mana since.

Order - a group of 5 men, which was actually six and was called "Orders".

make a unique/original/rarely seen/or simply uncommon spell and ability system. DnD one, for example (its uncommon to WC3), maybe the one like in Evil Islands (ou make spells by combining a 'base' and runes, which give it power, range, aoe, reduce CD, etc.), maybe the one like in Warhammer: Mark of Chaos (a unit doesnt have his own mana, there are sorta 'winds of magic' wich deplete when some1 casts a spell. but thats more of a strategy game mechanic)

actually i was thinking of the warlock to be kinda like kael in warcraftdota. making different spells on what orb he has. and the strenght depends on the level of the orb. but it will sort of be kind of unoriginal, will it? but we'll put in different spells and elements. so we might change the name into "elementalist". so 4 spells, fire, nature, ice, and lightning.

Talent system would be cool, insteed of selecting what hero to play everyone start off with the same hero and then have to spec. Also equipable gear that shows on the char would be cool

Problem is i already just did 60% of the game for a beta-phase :/ so i cannot show attachments, i also have no good models (unit) for it. (i will do this in a wow orpg or smth like this)
Spec. mh... i have 3 skilltrees, for every class 1.
Every Tree has got 11 different spells. so you also cannot get all 3 skilltrees full, maybe just 1 or 1 1/2

hey, here's the difference of the real world to the dream world.

Real world - normal monsters, there's checkpoints and patrols in towns and roads, and monsters keep away from the roads and towns, living in harmony with the humans and half humans making their own encampment and keeping peace with the other non human/half human inhabitants. so roads and towns are clean from monsters(cept if you lure them into it, which would kill the enemy you've lured or get apprehended by the guards which you can kill in the prison if you're a patrol), except well, at night. the towns have some good people, great bazaars, and the patrols are there to catch thieves and persons on wanted lists are for the heroes to hunt. patrols also kills hostile monsters at night. shops has some "demands system" where items in trends costs more and items that are not cost less. theruseful, you'll need to buy alot from the black market to earn their trust. also, checkpoints demand payment and level before entrance, or you could just look for an underground entrance or a secret passage somewhere in the open to go to other cities, or you could work for patrol to go to other cities. the bosses are either a mark(leader of an encampment), a bounty(leader of a guild/cult) or a wanted(missing bosses).

Dream world - monsters are dark and demon like, a place of nightmares. only a few towns exist and only those towns are the safe spots. items are scarce, there are no patrols, but there's alot of monsters. alot of weak ones and alot of very strong ones. items are strong, but drops less often. almost all the best items in game are in the dream world. and alot of them deals a stronger damage in the real world. and since the best items deals more in the real world, some of the normal items are in favor of the dream world, dealing less damage in the real world. there's no black market here, no bazaars, just a merchant who sells some small amount of items and a few weapons. there's still some monsters needed to be killed(marks, bounties, and wanted) in the dream world, but they're harder to kill, posing either hundreds of monsters before going to the "almost as strong as the mobs put together" boss or do alot of stuff before getting into the boss. there's also one restriction that makes dream world a hard place to be in, waking up. after 18 minutes(game time) in the dream world, you instantly wake up, anything you've left will be there when you sleep again, but everytime you sleep, you'll either end in one of the towns, being either far or near the place where you've left a boss with half a health regenerating or a strong item lying around. but since not everyone could go to the dream world, you are given the chance to go there by killing enemies and using their "dream shards". remnants of their dreams that can be used to enter the dream world. and the monster that dropped the shard will be the one that leads you to where you'd fall into the dream world (ex: centaur, you get to fall into a empty field full of red centaurs; gnoll, you get to fall into a gnoll encampment) or go find the "Dream Eater" and kill him to get the "Cerebral Sphere" which enables you to go to the dream world and leave as you please(it has no bonus whatsoever cept for being able to go to the dream world and stay there as long as you like). being able to leave is a plus, normal sleepers cannot leave cept for waiting for the time limit to end.

Bosses -

Real world -

Has like 12 bosses(bounty and wanted)(max of 16)

Dream world -

Has like 5 bosses(bounty and wanted)(max of 7)

Here's about some job quests.

Follower of Sin - you'll kill some bandits, and their boss, also destroy their encampment. don't worry, if someone was also going to be a follower of sin, then take a nap and in the morning, the whole encampment is fixed(well, after the first one who did the test finished it)

Lone Warrior - it's pretty simple, go around the whole map. it takes alot of time going into key points your master will give. and you only have that blue skin cause you'll stay longer in the snow.

Chakra Wizard - you'll be looking for a broken wizard's sanctuary somewhere. then enter it and a chakra wizard waits in there. she'll just ask you to seal a enchantment on one of the broken sanctuary's towers, easy eh? not really, you'll kill alot of monsters and after that the seal shuts tight, then you get to be a chakra wizard.

Elementalist - kind of hard, it's like the lone warrior's quest except you'll go into portals asking the wizards of the elements that's waiting for you inside. not a long chat, they'll just tell you about the element and what good and bad things it can do then you go look for the other ones. you need to go to them in order, earth, water, wind, fire. then go back to your master and be an elementalist.

Hunter - pretty easy, hunt a monster and bring it back to your master. hard part is how.

Ranger - they'll ask you to get some metal for new arrows, then shoot moving targets from far away range.(kinda like alleria's power shot in dota) if you've succesfully hit 5 within 15 seconds, you get to be a ranger.

Kickboxer - they'll just ask you to beat the hell out of a dummy, then when it gets destroyed(which takes a long time), you get to fight hand to hand(you'll just watch) but they'll let you choose your enemy to fight with. the hard part starts there. set of enemies are random, and only a breif information is given to each of them (ex. this person attacks fast, this person is slow but deals strong damage). so the skill you'll choose should be able to counter the enemies strength. and if you've won, you get to be a kickboxer. (the skills you choose are not the same as the real skills of the job)

Berserker - they'll ask you to beat the hell out of a bear and not die. again, they ask you to choose your first skill, and choosing it is the hard part. if in the kickboxer the enemies are random, in berserker, the skills are random. the set of skills might be a stun, a health boost, and an armor boost or it might be a speed boost, a bash, and return damage boost.you're given to choose 4 skills in 4 different sets. the skills are kind of close to each other's bonuses, and that's for you to decide if you want all of them to be health boost, to be stuns, or to be attack speed bonuses. you win and you get to be a berserker. (the skills you choose are not the same as the real skills of the job)

Bandit - kill the boss alot of times and he drops his head, set his head on one of the spikes on outside of their encampment and be a bandit. get to a certain level and go to a town and look for an "ex-leader" there. he's a captain of a patrol. he'll ask you to take his place when you're strong enough. then you turn into a bandit lord.

Satyr - Kill the boss alot of times and it drops a scythe. kill another satyr while it's in your inventory and be a satyr. then a random happening occurs when you're in a high enough level that just suddenly the dark energies from the earth turns you into The Corrupted One.

Cultist - Offer your blood in the altar and be a cultist. when your level is high enough, you can offer your soul to the "Devourer" and be a Lich.

Assasin - this is pretty hard. you need to look for someone and no one ones where he is. he might be just somewhere hidden or running or practicing with monsters or he might have been jailed. it changes per game. but it's certain he's there in the game(not seen in the dream world). just talk to him and you get to be an assassin. he stays where he is after that. invisible to creeps and NPC's (so he cannot be jailed and attacked). but in next games you need to look for him to ask to be a shinobi (or level up fast and ask him in the same time you turned an assassin)

Vampire - somewhere secluded and dark or somewhere full of humans for food. that's mostly where he is. he sees you, talks about asking you to be a vampire, and he turns you into one. if you insist he'll say he'll wait for you or others, he just need someone with a heroic presence for a minion. and soon enough a heir.

Werewolf - others crouch to look like normal wolves, but some walk in 2 feet, look for one. there's alot just a few steps away from cities. their strong, so be ready. when it's almost dead it surrenders and transforms back into human. it'll ask you if you want to be a werewolf to be stronger than you already are and he turns you into one. if you insist he'll wait for you there every night. then to be a Children of the Moon you need to look for the "Crystal Blood". some necklace with a big ruby. when you found it, you turn into a childred of the moon the next night you shift into a werewolf.

You can go to a guild/cult if you already have a job, but it overrides the job, and turns back to level 1.

iam very sorry asam3 but i don´t create a complete RPG, its a map with 60%+ finished :/ So i can´t change very much, but i just want some ideas which make the map more rpg (like talking people, torches at night, library etc)

I think this might give you a better idea on how to get your idea's: In an RPG, everything revolves around the story. A bad story can only be saved with an incredible gameplay, which is pretty much impossible to do. An ORPG is exactly like an RPG, but where the creators want the players to be able to interact with eachother as a bonus. However, this causes mayor issues, because people start ruining the plot for eachother, higher lvls cant cooperate with lower lvls and the entire story is blown to pieces, ruining your ORPG and has to be saved my an incredible gameplay, which (like I said before) is pretty much impossible.
With that in mind, you might want to keep in mind how to prevent this. It could most likely save your game.

Avator is right :)
Because not every orpg has a good story, i decided to search a story-writer, to create a epic story around the game. (Edhel-dur is my Story-Writer atm)
So you also know how to create your quests, high levels sometimes have to get ready some "low" lvl quest to open something like a hard dungeon etc.
Yes, the RPG mostly based at a story, so an ORPG is just the same like RPG, just with the "O" before which means Open/Online (Means you can play with other players too)

Good. Now once the storyline is complete, you have to keep in mind to avoid people from ruining it. Every MMORPG has a storyline, and some tried hard to make it a good one, but it all faded away, because people ruined the plot, because it was multiplayer. If you avoid this, you'll surely have a great game.
