Real ponies would have made the show duller as a series. Real ponies are cool, reality is cool, it's cool because it's real, but that's for documentaries and real life activity, not series. Would real ponies be able to be as expressive as the cartoon ones? I think not. We watch the show for the plot and characters, not for "cute talking rl pony moments."
