Lizardman Archer

This bundle is marked as high quality. It exceeds standards and is highly desirable.
The next model in my pack, a lizard with bow. Everything said in my previous model description works here as well.

I "stole" the bow from skeleton archer model and wood shoulder thing from heroshadowhunter.

If you would like to use or edit this model, please tell me. I never mind anyone using my stuff, but I like to know when it happens.

UPDATE:

This was probably my least favourite model, so I made a complete rewamp with all new animations and basicly better everything. A credit goes to Misha for helping me clean up and rig the model, it would be much more painful without his help.

I only wanted to slightly update the texture but ended up with another almost completely new model

Updated the model. Added missing particles on spell animation, altered portrait and portrait talk, slightly edited death animation.

I decided not to touch the bow texture, I think skeleton bow fits just fine. And what to do with soles - I don't know, the original satyr model had soles wrapped that way, maybe I'll fix it later.

I like your lizards you should make more of them but I think it will be good enough if they share the same texture.

By the way I actually checked it and BOYO you have outdone yourself again. I have one request STOP being so amazing. You've put so much love into a frickin' meaningless Archer unit I just cannot take it. His dramatic spinning death is gorgeous, and you didn't re-use in-game Archer animations. You made your own Arch-ing Attack animation. I just can't even.

Its quite average animation quality compared to what actual skilled people do tbh. It just so happens that most model makers tend to put the model quality ahead of the animation quality, but animation is so much more fun to make I think.

One of the things I enjoy with your lizardmen characters is you avoid using the same model several times over and instead give each model its own look and character.
 
  • He could throw a knife
  • He could have an attack spell/slam animation in which you add a custom attachment point called "arrow" so that we can add the special effect ourselves (or maybe even a different animation name like attack special)
  • He could pull out an arrow from his quiver, use it to point to the target and have the arrow burned in some magical effect
  • And last he is a lizardman and an archer, he could definetly spit poison


What could it be like?

man Gluma so dumb always updatin' your models makin' me re-download them. Why can't you be like all 90% of Hive's modelers; make it once & never change it or add to it or improve it? That way downloading is easy. 0/10

Man, you never fail to impress. Even if you didn't put out such high-quality & character-ful models, your willingness to completely retrofit/rework (not just upgrade), provide icons, and take user suggestions... Criminy.

This world doesn't deserve you.

I can agree with a simple Spell anim; while all of Darkfang's suggestions would be cool, the simplest & most pragmatic is just some kind of simple "arm-raising/waving" thing (perhaps a "Spell Throw"), which just lets the model-user throw 'whatever' on there & have it fit (as it is, if this guy has a spell he doesn't really have anything but Attack (I guess?) to do). Something like the Huntress' Sentinel ability.

That being said, not everything has to have Spell anims.

Finally, I hope you know how awexome it is you provide icons. Despite your comment to the contrary, not everyone can accurately take a screenshot & paint over it in the Warcraft 3 style; in fact, I would argue few can. : )
