All spells in dota are MUI and 100% leak free..

Instead get angry you should share the things you learned on that game and discuss why it becomes succesful.. so that other modders will learn from it and create a succesful wc3 maps also..

It's weird how no one has still brought LoL up. I was expecting a fight against LoL kids and DotA fanatics like in every thread like this.

Anyways, i think DotA deserves atleast 5/5. Why? Balanced items and heroes, lots of heroes & game modes and fast paced gameplay.

Judge a map quality by code quality is the same thing, as trying judge a human by his IQ or by his body. Game is not a code or systems, and no one really care how it works. You love sex but u really dont care how it comes nice for you. 3D Physics, DGUI, ultra HQ models - are these are unnecessery for good games with good gameplay, and only poor shit games focus on graphics and systems only.

DotA spells are pure shit when it comes to coding.

The Knockback system for Barathrum alone is so bad, it can't handle 10-20 units at a time without huge FPS drops because it relies heavily on trigger evaluations and executions. The map could be WAY more efficient than it is today. Bribe's Knockback system handled about 350 units smoothly on my machine while DotA's knockback system, extracted and isolated in a map, barely handled 35. I did these tests back in August.

I'm basing this on the fact that I've actually read the code.

I'm not saying the map is bad because the code is bad, I'm just saying the code is bad.
I actually love the map.
If I were to rate it, I'd give it a 4/5. That's a 3/5 + 1 point for being awesome.

Yes yes, DotA is badly coded. It use to be much worse with Shiva's Guard ^.^ Fifty units being moved periodically. Eventually they just replaced it with one model that had the fifty units as part of it.

But in the normal game, you won't get 10-20 units being knocked back. So it's not a major issue.

Especially when my allies are carries who farm at the wrong times and end up having to clear huge waves of 30 units in the base destroying our towers while we struggle to make money and defend against the overpowered enemy heroes we fed earlier ;____;

Really? I can't think of where you'd have 20 instances of knockbacks. Perhaps with Spirit Breaker having Aghanims and Nether Striking heaps of creeps... but that's about it. Oh well. Haha.

I'm pretty sure if DotA was a map made on the hiveworkshop by one of its members everyone would agree to give the map a 6/5.

DotA is entertaining, well balanced, contains tons and tons of customized heroes, contains tons of items and recipes, is playable on a casual level and on a competitive level.

For those of you who will argue by saying it's not balanced so it doesn't deserve a 6/5... DotA is probably the most balanced a map on Warcraft 3 can get simply because of the huge number of players. If a hero is slightly unbalanced, a great number of frustrated players will complain. In a normal map, the fan base is not big enough to test every aspect of a hero on a competitive level in order to get a good balancing.

The code used in DotA is fine because the only way to know there are better codes than that is to go check and test the spells in situations that never happens in a real game.

If we're allowed to compare to other maps... EotA was my favorite WC3 map. I still play it from time to time.

1. Your own low skill is SO objective problem.
2. So objective thing, yes. Oh my fkin god :DDD
3. You are wrong. Carry mages are still freakinly angry till the end of game and in fine hands they're still be very strong till the late. Actualy thier first balanced moment that they hardly rule early and mid, and can easily humiliate late-carries let they do not have any farm till the end.

I will spell it again - most people who dislike DOTA - just have no sense of what it is. They saw it once, they played few times, and making thier own opinion. Tell me, how you can create some opinion about something, without knowing what it is?
And last moment about DOTA - compare with LOL game it much more oriented for a strong teamplay rules, where pick and synergy means much more than individual gaming skill.

Dota is best wc3 map ever, it doesnt have most detailed terrain or maybe inventory, but it is done in perfect wc3 stile and have great game play, and it is one of the main reasons why is wc3 alive.
People just want to say something agains dota to show how smart they are, but on opponent side. Dota have many bounds because of wc3(spell power, cd reduction) but even like that it is great map. All who try to say different just want to argue or they are jaleous, I would write much more things bat I am on mobile. Magtheridon96, who cares if you pc can handle 35 knockbacks in seconds, if in reall game only 1 happens in 3 seconds. Perfect coding is needed only for spell section here. Good map doesnt have to have perect coding or terrain, it is enough to it has good gameplay. Peekey I agree with all things you told.

I agree, dota is a great game. Even its terrain is not perfect, it still has this thrilling gameplay because the game involves strategy. Nothing is impossible. Even the strongest hero can be defeeated by lesser heroes. I also love the items here tho.

But Mags has a point about the bad coding but that doesnt make the game bad at all..

there is nothing to play in wc3 except of dota. Only this the only map which you addicted for years. In case of comparison a whole all other maps on wc3 and dota, dota will get stable 85\100 and each other maps (include TcX and others) - for no more than 25-30\100. They are uncomparable.

DOTA in itself is a great map.
terrain: 3/5 (plain)
spells: 5/5 (for the amount of different spells made through the years)
heroes: 5/5 (100+ heroes using the default models and some custom ones without
making the map over 8mb)
items: 4/5 (for the sheer amount of items available)
gameplay: 5/5 (very addicting. I've played some maps with my friends but for me none brings great joy than Dota.)

On the other hand, I admire other RPGs like TKoK and Gaias Retaliation. Those are much better projects than DotA....it can't be compared... the terrain in Gaias, the systems in TKoK....DotA is just a piece of crap compared to them.

Interface: What interface? You mean regular non changed Warcraft 3 interface? 0/5
Heroes and gameplay: FAERIE DRAGON BEST HERO EU. Hilarious idea for a hero. Though this was only judging by models and storyline. Let's judge some more? Alright. The game obviously tried to have certain roles by heroes. Certain heroes can go with no doubts solo against the entire enemy team and vanquish them, others can't go 1 on 1 properly. More flaws? Not a problem. The irony is that the Intelligence heroes do not rely on Intelligence...at all. They just rush Dagon/Other OP item and live with it. At start, their spells can pretty much harass 15-25% of health. End game, a well build Huskar with Hood of Defiance won't take more than 5% of health from for example Lich's Frost Nova. I've got 1 thing to say positive about it though. Some heroes are quite fun to play, and have some interesting spell ideas. But overall remains ~2 or 3 /5
Art: Ehm...yeah....non existent. Except for the fan arts, there's nothing more to it.
Balance: Huskar low on health gains literally ~100% attack speed and similar damage amount. Satanic on active grants 200% lifesteal. Black King Bar 10 seconds invulnerable to CC effects. Judging by your other posts, and by that intelligence, I assumed this is not enough for your tiny brain to understand, so let me try this way. Combine those items and heroes -> solo against entire enemy team. Fact: If you're denying this, it means you can't do it, and I've actually done it a whole lot of times. Believe it or not but I was playing DotA too much when it was popular.

I think the overall deserves 2/5 after all. Remember, it's not Icefrog who made it popular, it's the community who found the game rather fun, and retard-friendly.

I dont play and dont like dota that much any more, but true is that map is really Hq and I wont spam my explanation or answer some so fucking stupid question that make me so hammered for no reason. If you really think dota is bad map then stop thinking you are bad in it. Thats last post that I will post in this thread.

Systems, terrain... what a stupid point of view. No one cares of systems,code, terrain when play any map. Systems and terrain will never make game popular, cause no one matters. Tetris has no imba graphics and no imba systems - it has simple and addictive gameplay. Tkok has not.

U think that interface you should count same as real map components, omg? :D What a freaking madness in ur stupid judgment? Who the hell matters about interface? Never (!) interface add quality to the map. Artistic part of project is nothing and counts really low. 100 unique modells, 100 textures, 1000 icons and textures, loadscreen and interface - this whole pack is just a MB of map, not MB of joyment and intresting gameplay. If your tiny stupid brain cannot understand what means graphics in some game, then u can keep hatin everything, which has not, but still become much more better, than new games. Lineage2 had simple and bad graphics (till upgrade for unreal engine 3), was playable and addicting game. Diablo 2 after few years was looking like oldschool shit - a lot of gamers keep playing till now. Counter Strike 1.6. And some newbies will cry, that AWP kills in one hit, that knife stab from back kills in one hit.

Gameplay and heroes: prepare your anus, newbie. What a popular opinion, that there is something imbalanced in dota.. I love these pathetic newbies. Instead of finding way to win, instead of at least try understand the game theory, reading guides, try communicate with team - they just start cry about imbalance. And imbalance does not exist when there is same level players, with same knowing of what the fuck they do here, and why there is a 5 players versus 5 players, and what profit upcomes from a team.
The only fkin thing that hardly matters in dota - the proper pick.

And no, there is no really chance of 1 hero kill 5 with same playing skills. If 1 kill 5 that means that these five - just humiliated noobs, such as you.
Just understand few things.: satanic has an crazy worth of 5800, that is the first (5800 it is late-game item for at least 11 level)
Second: huskar is a hero, who just need simple way to kill - he uses ulti, u using bm, he keep hitting (in hope of increasing dmg), and when his life comes down - just make a procast, that is all. Believe me, Naix can make much more terror.



But well, overall it is looks funny, when shitmakers triyng judge game by, frxmpl, landscape. And by a playable component of a landscape it deserves DC too, these pathways in woods, these verified locations of each destructible. No one cares of how good it looks, there is arcade game, it looks ok? ok. So, no questions.
