High Elf Chronomancer

Originally made for the Hero Contest #4 over at WC3C.net, unfortunately my team-mate could not finish coding the spells in time. So I'm releasing this model for you guys to use. I used Medivh as a base model and modified it to make it what it is. The head and hair are from the Arthas model, the head using Blood Mage's texture and the hair using a Campaign Screen texture of white hair with a geoset animation that colors the hair brown during all animations. Staff was made from scratch in Milkshape 3D. The model uses all-ingame textures from various places, be it units, structures or even the "F10" menu you can access while inside the game. Book is geo-merged from the Paladin model. The original mesh was modified slightly to fix various flaws in the animations, such as clipping issues, so if you find such a flaw, please report it to me. The model is best used as a hero, as it has hero glow on his weapon and on the "ground", and it has a dissipate animation. A portrait is included in this model. The model uses Priest's death sound and ordinary Human blood-splats when it dies.

"High Elven Chronomagi are a new addition to the forces of the Alliance. While rare and few, those powerful sorcerers from Quel'thalas can bind the very forces of time to their will. Many of them have not survived the third war, and most of those who survived wish to keep their High Elven identity, rather than becoming Blood Elves, whom they despite and deem corrupted. Harnessing the very flow of time, the Chronomagi are a powerful force to be reckoned with. They have been invited to join the Alliance, to have revenge on their fallen Elven brothers and sisters. Most have agreed, but some are still independent, choosing a life of a hermit, wandering across the world..."

I would appreciate any kind of constructive criticism.

UPDATED - 16/12/09: Most geosets that use the same textures as others have been merged, added a portrait which I forgot to add.

UPDATED - 25.02.10: Major and minor changes. Changed texture on hood\cape and added gems, along with many minor and hardly noticeable changes.

You must give me, Debode\Deolrin, credits if you use it in a map or a campaign. You are not allowed to redistribute this model in any way. You are not allowed to edit this model without direct permission from me.

Roleplayer alert!;-)

And how can he make a model that 'scouts around time and finds a way to stop quel'thalas' destruction while keeping minimal problems from occuring?'.
Sounds like a hard thing to capture in just one model.:O

Yeah I've never understood people who ask for permission to use a given custom resource in their stuff... That's literally the point of this whole shebang. If they didn't want it publicly used they wouldn't post it in a public section of "Resources (to Use)".

Honestly its been 5 years and I lostmost of my wc3 stuff when I backed up my hdd and made a typo and lost both my hdd and the backup.

When vJASS works well in the native editor I might get back to modding... but dont tell anyone, it‘s a secret :p
Oosh, so sorry to hear about the data loss. My worst nightmare. :<

Yeah, that'd definitely be schweet! Do you happen to remember what you & Deolrin were planning for this guy (ability-wise)?

I see. Would be great if you hit the game again :)

I don‘t really remember which spells we were going to choose for him sadly.

Nowadays I have way different ideas and I would do something like the following:

- Magic Barrier: Holds all units together in an area of X, pushing away units trying to enter and charging the wall with any unit doing so. After X seconds all friendly units within the barrier will get healed X hp + Y * charges collected.
- Shield of Time: Stops the target unit from getting any damage over a period of X seconds and if the unit is in a magic barrier it will deal this damage to the next unit trying to enter this area. Lasts for X seconds and has a maximum of Y damage that can be dealt.
- Mana Control: Upon activating will create a field of energy around the caster, letting any spell cast in an area of X heal Y mana and Z hp for any friendly unit in this field.
- Arcane Waves (Ultimate): <Channeling> Sends waves of arcane bolts to the target area, blinding enemy units upon hit for X seconds and making them unable to move. If cast within a magic barrier will heal Y% of mana to all friendly units within on each wave.

Nice. :)

Unexpected to see you here, Anachron. How are you?

I had the original idea saved & sent it to Daffa the Mage. He could do either one or both (or none), if he so desires!

Chronomancer:

The chronomancer is a supportive spellcaster who is able to bind time itself to his will. His abilities include controlling time and using the powers of time to harm his enemies and help his allies. He is bound to a magical artifact called the Hourglass of Time Control. Using it's ancient powers, the chronomancer can bind and use the very essence of time for his advantage in battle.

~~~
The item, Hourglass of Time Control, is a key element in the abilities of the hero. Every time the chronomancer casts a spell, a shared global cooldown will start - affecting the hourglass and all of the chronomancer's spells - lasting an ingame hour(20 seconds). In addition, the hero gains a buff whenever the hourglass is in his possesion - while it's night, he gains bonus mana regeneration dependant on the time(having the maximal mana regeneration bonus at 6 PM, and minimal mana regeneration bonus when it's nearing morning) and the mana cost of all of the Chronomancer's spells decrease. While it's day, the hero gets bonus health regeneration, again dependant on the time(maximal bonus at morning, minimal bonus when it's nearing night) and all of his spells will have a decreased cooldown.
Spells:
Time Halt:
The chronomancer creates a sphere that stops the time from going in a radius around him. All units who are caught in the sphere are completely paused for a duration which increases with the level. Paused units cannot attack, move, cast spells or obey to any other order.
Aura of Ages [Passive]:
Slows down the movement speed of all enemies around the chronomancer in relation to their current precentage of health. Units at high health are not slowed at all, and the closer a unit is to death, the slower they will move. The maximum precentage that units could be slowed by the aura increases with each level.
Trammelling Chain:
Sends a chain of negative time energy to a target unit. The chain jumps a few times, slowing down the movement speed of all affected enemies. Each jump decreases the slow percentage. Additionaly, the chain afflicts the unit with a trammelling curse, which will freeze in time the opponent if it attempts to cast a spell.
Time Rift [Ultimate]:
Opens a portal through time, enabling previously slain allied units to come through the portal to your aid. When one of the units bought from the portal dies, it will respawn at the portal. The units will keep respawning untill the portal is destroyed, either by force or by waiting untill the time duration runs out. When the portal is destroyed, all of the units that spawned from it will die.
The item was a pointless gimmick which made our hero technically qualified for the contest, since the theme was "item interaction". It can easily be dropped at no real loss to anything.
Wow, reading it again I kind of remember what we had in mind ... makes me reminisce.
I am good thanks, how about you?
Was playing wc3 every once in a while still but since the patches broke my Wc3 and I dont have the 1.29 installers anymore I browse through forums, maybe someone has an idea how to fix it ...
