This is a template you can use freely for whatever you want.

The terrain was originally made for my new map (in progress) Rome II Total War. If you have any suggestion for further versions, please leave some comments.

The terrain is rather empty and you will have to adapt it for your project.

Feel free to change the tiles, the doodads etc... Just don't forget to add Fingolfin to the credits if you keep the trees he made.
Please don't forget me aswell, it was quite some work ;)

Note that you should use the NewGen WE to edit the map, and use the Misc.txt in your warcraft directory to edit the heights.

Go to "Advanced" and "Replace doodads" and replace those I put by equivalent destructibles you made. But you must be aware that destructibles cannot be placed EXACTLY where you want like doodads and that their X,Y and Z scales are the same. So the forests would probably look different, and some trees would be on top of each other.

Is it just me, or do massive amounts of animated doodads produce lag while in the editor?

Well, it might be that, but it may just be the size of the map aswell. All depends on the performances of your computer ^^
But depending on the kind of gameplay you wanna develop on the map, you may want to destroy all the doodads and replace them by fewer and bigger ones. + I advise you to reduce the size of the map (crop it); depending on your project once again : )

Is there a way to keep the proportions - just shrink the map to let's say 384x320 (needs to stay in 32 dimensions)?

This is eye kindy but I think the lack of water to the west of Spain is a problem, also the same could be said for the Arabian gulf but that's less important I reckon. Secondly the amount of trees is too much I'm sure you used JNPG but the current vanilla limit is 30k and this had much more than that and I don't see the need to spam that many trees.

I tried to cut it by armenia and most of north africa. What happens is that the minimap no longer matches with the terrain. Oh it's fixable by removing the war3map import. Doesn't look as sexy any more :d

My rating is 4/5 due to the amount of trees and the water problem making it less functional for game play, nothing that a map maker can't fix themselves but still.

My suggestion is that you disfigure spain slightly to allow for water access, and same for Arabian gulf, though the second is a minor issue (as it's not part of Europe and hence not the focus of the map).

It's been a while since I opened the editor :p but can't you just remove a few bits in the East and add them in the West ?? It should take about 10 sec ;)

Well; the map was not originally designed as a template; it was for my Total War map; and I wanted it to look like the original game (+ there was much more forests back in the days).

Your minimap is great btw :) It 's way better than the warcraft display; very good idea ;)
