its a common glitch, after a skill levels up it bugs and gets stuck at some low value (15~25) and won't raise
training one skill up at a trainer or adding via console should fix it

thanks for the help, I've just killed my flame atronach until it rose up again and all is fine now. God, skyrim is so buggy that I might need help again later though.

Note for those of you following the Argonian guy as part of the Thieves Guild quest: When you confront him, and after you finish talking with him, etc, look to your right. On the shelf, there will be a unique Imperial Helmet, that looks much like an Oblivion guard's helmet(except closed), and has a black plume. As far as I know, this helmet does not spawn in any other place. This is the only way to acquire it.

so I've got Illia and she's pretty good so far. Conjuration doesn't seem as good as that girl from the winterhold college (all she summons are fire atronachs and no frost/storm ones) but she shoots ice spikes everywhere and those do a lot more damage than the sparks that j'zargo, for example, loves to use. NPCs have really deadly aim so she's great at helping to take down flying dragons

a problem I've been having with her is that she really doesn't like the set of ebony armor (as in the main armor and not gloves/boots, she's fine with those) I made for her. Sometimes she'll equip it if I give it to her, sometimes she doesn't. It only really seems to make a difference whether or not she's wielding staves at the moment, which doesn't make much sense

I took all my items from her and tried doing "removeallitems" on her in the console, but the next time I went inside a building/fast travelled all of her old default items had respawned



also I can't use anything from the console to remove my stuck quest items, though I can at least confirm that they don't add anything to my weight.

Molag Bal Quest

I felt like such a dick when I killed Vigilant Tyranus in Markarth in the Abandoned House.

But besides that, does anyone else love shouting guards off incredible heights in Markarth?

completed gauldur amulet is bugged and can be equipped with any other amulet and ultimately enables you to wear two amulets at once (just equip one more and gauldur unequips)

the amulet itself is crap so I regarded the glitch to be the reward instead, lol
I'm not sure if this was patched already

and yeah I ended up picking the "dick" options just because the "good guy" rewards sucked bad
despite I didnt really like doing them, but thats about it right ? you are a dick for greed and personal gain
and being nice rarely rewards you with anything past the good feeling, the game makes it look like being nice is just soooooo unrewarding

only real problem I had was

the dark brotherhood, joining it leads to over 20 quests with total reward of like 50k gold and destroying it

I think the Dark Brotherhood provided one heck of a story-telling experience. It was truly epic. I suppose that if your character is good, you would destroy the Dark Brotherhood simply because you're good, not for any retarded reward or anything.
I have over 90k gold either way. Gold is useless in Skyrim, seriously; It's only good for buying houses, smithing materials and soul gems.

So I finally broke down and bought the game. By principle I try and never buy a game full price, but after playing it at my brothers house, I couldn't resist knowing I was going to have lots of free time over Christmas.

Definitely an awesome game. However it freezes on me every so often. I have changed the priorities setting in my process tab to Above Normal, which seems to have helped. Anyone else had freezing issues? Could be a driver I suppose.

meanwhile, really, how to remove stuck quest items? I was doing A Night To Remember, and then for some reason, I unpurposely happen to talked to that girl in whiterun and she mentioned about some wedding ring and then quest just leaped forward from very beginning to wedding ring part. So, I have a list in my inventory, which mentions the required items to collect, so I have a giant's toe and it's marked as quest item now, so I cannot eat nor make potions with it

reward is negligible ofc, it was about the 20 "epic" quests
whereas when you choose the opposite you only get one and that is "kill omfg everybody !"
couldn't it like be infiltrate the dark brotherhood and earn their trust ?
you could for example complete a few of their regular quests for them to tell you their location/or of their leader (some other leader ,Astrid is laughable)
cooperate with penitus oculatus and fake the target's death and lure the members out one after the another
besides how come that super secretive super famous assasin organization tells random people where they are located right away ? I mean seriously
it could be a lot more interesting than that, if somebody wasn't lazy
I just hate "options" just for the sake of there being an option

then you can join the dark brotherhood
if you didn't obtain the letter after completion of the innocence lost quest go sleep, sleep it may take a few days

It's mainly because of overflows, you could try turning autosave on/off to see if it helps. (That was atleast the reason for my freezing)

I'm looking for the lowest physically possible settings for Skyrim available on the interwebz.
Like.. only load things 10 feet around you if possible.
I mean my shits so laggy it's just a waste of time even trying to play it properly.
If it's possible, a link to a texture pack that reduces everything possible.
I know they are out there, but there are many problems with them;
- They are stupid difficult to install
- Most cause errors and such
- They don't reduce the graphics all that much
- Nothing I have found is what I wanted

The Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim holds so much sentimental value to people who played Oblivion(at least to me). At first, I seriously hated them, because they've broken the five tenets, they stopped worshiping Sithis and the Night Mother and apparently became a lot less secretive and feared. But the little bits, like

(WARNING: MAJOR SPOILER), it all makes it so much better. There are just so many nudges, hints and 'blasts-from-the-past' to Oblivion in this storyline, not to mention the general epicness of the questline, that I really believe the Dark Brotherhood questline is one of my most epic gaming experiences, ever.

Also, the fact that 'other Elder Scrolls weren't remotely attractive to me' really makes me think that you're one of those retarded 'gamers' who play what's 'new' and 'hot' and 'popular'. E.g, mainstream gamers. Or whatever you'd call them.

I will create sneaky character soon, who is best for sneak ?

Personally, I play as a sneaky Khajiit, but I know that Bosmer are equally as good for sneak characters, or even better. But I really don't think it matters, since you can raise up your skills equally with all races; Playing as a specific race only gives you a passive ability(most often a passive bonus to resistance, damage, etc) and an active ability(in the Khajiit's case, absolutely useless), and sets your starting skills to specific values(some skills will be higher than others, look it up in the Wiki, preferably on UESP).

Most active abilities are useless, maybe high elf is the only real exception. And starting race DOES matter, as they modify the starting skills as well, and if I remember well the values the Bosmer's (Wood Elf) basic sneak is 5 points higher than that of the Khajit, though not sure - people say around that Bosmer is just better in that way, so I dont know... I played a Bosmer myself and I felt so OP it hurts - one hitting a dragon with a dagger at ~40 base damage, I was like "WTF, I just wanted to give myself a small handicap". The AI has a strange way of handling sneak too. At sneak lvl ~80, I could walk RIGHT IN FRONT OF the enemies, without them noticing me. Another people cry about running around with 90 sneak and being discovered from huge distances...

I've been playing up until now and i'm level 18 doing this quest where you have to clear a drug operation (the one from riften) but all of a sudden a guy with a two-handed sword show up, my frostbite doesn't really damage him... my weapon doesn't really damage him... neither does my firebreath shout! And because he is two-handed he can kill me within a few swings of his sword... mostly ending up with him doing somekind of finishing blow.

Might try turning into a werewolf (i'm a werewolf) if i really can't beat him but seriously what the fuck!!

I feel like asking you again: Why do you keep playing it if you don¨t like it, have no knowledge of the other games and clearly doesn't really see what takes place doing the quests (I guess having no knowledge of the earlier games makes that easier). Other then that, I guess Deolrin already said what I wanted to. (Oh and really, you don't know anything about the Dark Brotherhood, thats quite clear.. play Oblivion and the other games, then Skyrim and you might learn something new or enjoy it in an entirely different manner).

I use a one-handed and a two-handed weapon (prefer two-handed), a bow, and conjuration and restoration magic. And the Wabbajack, of course. Everybody uses the Wabbajack, right?

Well, that's entirely subjective. The Nord ability has saved me quite a couple of times.

	But yes, there's also a update for anyone playing Skyrim with XBOX 360. I am not sure yet what they have updated, but it's more likely to be worth checking.
On a side note, there is also Midas Magic for Skyrim now, a good mod that was in Oblivion and added +200 custom spells.

There's just SO much wrong with your post. First of all, you're saying a mainstream gamer is someone who games because of "sentimental values and nostalgia"? That doesn't make any sense. These things got NOTHING to do with each other (mainstream: ''a prevailing current or direction of activity or influence'').
And then you're saying people are playing games like CoD and Halo because of nostalgia. Are you serious? It's the 15 million dollar ad campaigns that make people play these games. Marketing. Not nostalgia. I bet around 90% of the people playing CoD right now have never even heard about the original CoD games.

And anyway, what you said Talavaj has no footing at all... I play games out of nostalgia? Tell me one good game I've never played and I'll believe you. I play skyrim because I love Bethesda's games and engines a they've always made good games. I've played 8 to 10 hours a day from the age of 7 to 16, so I know what a good game is like. Bethesda gave us games with the most freedom any premade (non-tabletop RPG or game) could give us.

And anyway, the game pwns it's predecessor, oblivion, so guess what - oblivion players went to playing Skyrim. And yeah, maybe some of us play it out of what you called nostalgia, though the fact is they play it for the same reason you don't stop reading a triology after the second book if its good. And no game was popular just because of that. Gothic 3 got infamous (or at least with no players) in a short time because it wasn't too balanced and even if it gave a kind of freedom, it wasn't as good as Oblivion's, which, if I remember well, appeared on the market some months after.

So I was walking around The Rift, doing random quests and helping random people, when I stumbled upon an Orc Fortress with a Giant attacking it. I killed the giant, but one of the named orcs died. I checked up on the Wiki, and apparently this orcish NPC is important for some quest(Malacath's Daedric Prince quest). So I ressurected her with the console and carried on with my adventures. After a while, I saw a stormcloak courier running about. Being an Imperial Legionaire myself, I immediately shot him through with an arrow, and cut him down when he was staggered. I was surprised to see that killing my enemy gives me a bounty(40 bounty added to The Rift message), but after I killed him, it said the last witness was killed and the bounty was cleared. Again continuing with my adventures, I went on to explore a tower near Riften. Suddenly, I met Athis and Torvar, my fellow companions. As I went to greet them, they replied by yelling their battlecries and attacking me! I quickly loaded, and learned that no matter what I do, they will try to kill me. So I sneaked around them, but soon after, a DEER rushed in and attacked me! I had to kill it, but it didn't end here. I met an aggressive fox, and Captain Valmir, an Imperial captain, tried to kill me as well. I fast-traveled to Riften, and was relieved because the guards didn't try to kill me, as everyone else did. I entered the Bee and Barb, to check if I can get a good night's rest, as it was late outside, and no sooner than I stepped into the Inn, Louis Latrush attacked me, for no apparent reason! No one else seemed to be aggressive, though. Does anyone have any idea why is this happening, or how to fix it? Loading doesn't seem to help. Was it because I ressurected someone with the console? Was it because I killed the courier? Or maybe the ancient dragon, that I killed before all of this started happening? WHAT IS GOING ON?! D:
tl;dr: I ressurected a dead Orc woman, I killed a Stormcloak Courier, I killed an Ancient Dragon, and now the world hates me and everyone wants to kill me. Wat do?

I'd just suggest loading a previous save and trying again if you have one
