Dawn of Eternity is an isometric total-conversion RPG that aims to push beyond what is considered possible within the Warcraft 3 engine. Unlike many other total-conversion maps, Dawn of Eternity is set within the Warcraft universe, taking place after the events of The Frozen Throne and at the beginning of the World of Warcraft storyline.

The map will be singleplayer only, with a co-op version or spin-off maybe released later.

"A dark curse has descended upon the southern reaches of Elwynn Forest. Unholy magic shrouds the once bright woodlands surrounding the town of Darkshire in perpetual shadow, earning it a new name — Duskwood. Vicious creatures, such as the vile undead and the ferocious worgen, lurk within the shadows, preying upon its inhabitants at every opportunity. With its army engaged in distant wars against the Horde, the kingdom of Stormwind can spare no soldiers to aid the beleaguered town. In desperation, the mayor of Darkshire sent a plea for help to humanities allies from across the sea. To his surprise, the night elf leader Tyrande Whisperwind answered the call, dispatching a squad of sentinels to aid in the protection of the town and its people. Among them are two young night elf warriors — Anara Silverleaf and her close friend Ellaria Thorn. Now the two sentinels must put their skills to the test once again. The safety of Darkshire's people depends on it."

Our story starts off at the beginning of the World of Warcraft story line, a few years after the events of The Frozen Throne. The first chapter introduces the main characters and hosts a self-contained plot around the dark forces that are taking hold in Duskwood. More chapters are planned after the initial release, contiuing with the story of Anara and Liam, taking us across Azeroth, from Stormwind, to Ashenvale, and the South Seas.

There will be significant time jumps between the chapters, with the contrast between human mortality and night elf immortality serving as a major theme of the overarching story.

You play as Anara, a night elf sentinel, and Liam, a human citizen of Darkshire, with your point of view switching from chapter to chapter. As Anara, you do all the fighting and monster-killing, while most of the crafting is done by Liam. You have followers that join you based on the mission. These followers act on their own, but you can manually assign their attack target if necessary or give them broader tactical commands.

The gameplay and interface are heavily inspired by ARPGs and Classic World of Warcraft, featuring talent trees, equipment slots, and customizable spell bars. The gameplay will be slower and more tactical than your average ARPG, with disables and resource management playing a bigger role. A 3rd person camera was considered, but the idea was ultimately discarded due to the limitatins of the Warcraft 3 engine.

Currently, all missile spells are skillshots, but this may still be changed before the final version, as it might not be the best fit for this style of map.

looks super awesome! darkshire is one of my favorite places so I love that you chose that as your setting (I had no idea that darkshire sign existed! haha). the atmosphere reminds me of what I'd imagine alpha duskwood looking like--which apparently was very dark and required a torch to navigate :) story-wise, I'm curious if you guys are going to do something around the scythe of elune storyline.

the systems are amazing as well. would definitely be cool to see a co-op option down the road!

Now I see where the inspiration for the remaking of The Defense Strahnbrad comes from.
The inspiration for it was actually this.

I can say only one thing: keep cooking!

Thank you!

Duskwood is the best zone in classic! Everyone who disagrees is positively wrong!

It's currently a bit of an unsolved problem how the lighting should be handled. Of course it should be quite dark at night, but you can still see very well as a night elf. A solution would be to put a light source around the hero, but that makes her glow like a vampire in the wc3 engine.

I had watched the WoW cinematic a few times already and didn't notice until now that the black lady's left arm COMPLETELY goes missing.

Screenshots look great. Nice to see lesser-used regions for custom campaigns (Duskwood) getting their time to shine.
Just out of curiosity, what would you say are the more commonly used regions? Durotar, Ashenvale, Lordaeron?

Totally super cool, just a bit sad there is no mp (yet).
The Wow style is on point and should draw veterans in easily.
Thank you!

Making multiplayer-version comes with quite a few problems. Many of my systems are not designed to be multiplayer-safe and there are a lot of character-specific personal story lines, which would have to be cut or heavily changed to fit with the co-op gameplay. The former can be fixed, the latter is more problematic, which is why I think a co-op spin-off is the way to go.

But I'll be busy with the singleplayer campaign for the foreseeable future, so it's unlikely going to happen.

That's why, if there is a night elf enthusiast out there who wants to do a multiplayer campaign, I want to offer that they do it using my engine and make it that multiplayer spin-off
