As I'm sure many of you know, you can convert WC3 maps for use in the GE.
Here are some screenshots of what they look like.

The resources seem to fail with a Warcraft III conversion. I'm sure an original StarCraft map would convert much, much better.

It's probably a new feature and with luck they'll add more to it so it's a "real" conversion. But this is cool even if this is all we get for converting. but it does seem to be missing a lot. I bet they'll add wc3.mpqs to sc2 so you get all the old models or maybe a new war3.mpq with updated models and textures. Either would be cool.

I dont see much point in it. I imported the WC3 Twisted Meadows that has mines in the 4 ends, shallow water there, shallow water and tavern in the map center, creeps and trees, The import after selecting BelShir was just mountains and valleys in a rough shape of the map, no water, no nothing and those mountains and hills never existed. My map turnt out to be better conversion cause it doesnt have trees, while trees become hills. This conversion is actually nice but i'd rather make a new map from scratch than use conversion:

I like the idea but no way I would remake my city from converted map. Otherwise it is like the Earth after deserted without water, the ocean is sand, kinda like Resident Evil Extinction - the planet is deserted!

I just noticed this in the editor today XD, figured id post about it, but someone beat me to it eh. I really hope it works, as almost a full conversion... and that the warcraft 3 mpq database can/will be included with sc2... how epic would that be ^^, ofc blizz might just release it as a resource pack, type thing, not sure how thats gonna work out

If you want to convert your map, do it manually, dammit. MAYBE the converter would be able to convert the terrain, not just a heightmap but with cliffs as well. MAYBE. But that's IT.

SC2 cliffs are different from WC3's. SC2 cliffs have only 4 levels.
Chasim - The bottom is far away and can appear bottomless on some tile sets so can not be walked on
Normal - The standard height elevation of a map (ground 0), can ramp with elevated and high.
Elevated - Small cliff up from normal, can ramp with normal and high.
High - small cliff up from Elevated, can ramp with elevated and normal.

As you can see this is totally different from WC3 as SC2 wants you to use terrain or doodads instead of cliffs. Thus why it estimates with hightmap as SC2 can not support WC3's 32 cliff levels or whatever.
