Constant game crashes

I´ve noticed if I dont use upgrades the game dont crash...

On August 17th, 2022 a new patch to Warcraft III: Reforged was released by someone knew whose focus is on melee games and not on custom games. The damage table is crashing for everyone (unless they use the SHIFT+ENTER thing). This World Editor bug was introduced by the new patch, but these kinds of bugs were caused because a new person working on Warcraft III: Reforged loaded an unfinished patch from the 2020 Reforged team who was let go, and then published this patch without fixing those bugs. Probably because they did not edit the code that caused the bugs, but just inherited those bugs by loading an unfinished patch from the old team, the new person does not feel responsible and is not going to fix it even though on the outside from your viewpoint it feels like they broke it for you. With that in mind, it is probably not going to be fixed (at least not for months or years) so it may be helpful for you to become familiar with workarounds.

With that being said, I am assuming your problems might be happening after these newer patches. Lately I was browsing the forums and playing older versions of Warcraft 3 so my information is starting to be a little more second-hand instead of first-hand as a World Editor user, but I have not seen other people on the forums report issues with the upgrade system. The main issues that I am aware of after these new patches are
  • The game has a new caching bug where any file that loads caches and keeps loading that same file for that path until Warcraft 3 restarts, so RPG saves dont work properly without restarting the Warcraft III game after exiting the RPG map
    • Possibly related to the caching system, I heard that custom maps with imported overrides to Terrain now frequently crash the World Editor until the Terrain texture override is removed
  • The new caching bug, or something like it, is causing the Rexxar Campaign that is built into the game to freeze and be unplayable
  • All of the model files and the Reforged particle emitter 3d art is in a new format on the new patch, supposedly to get better performance, but the format change caused the map editor to have a bunch of "Please rebake asset" warnings on HD even for ingame models. It sounds like you might only be using the SD editor so you might have less problems, but the format change affected SD art for no good reason and so now the SD Naga Buildings that are Under Construction will show glitched texture surfaces instead of water due to the format change. These bugs are showing even in the official campaign
    • (With this in mind, supposedly a workaround for the HD campaign is to set Spell Effects to Low and never load a mid-game save file, which works for some users but not others according to the forums)
  • The custom texture loader for the new patch appeared to have changed in some way that I am not totally familiar with, and was sometimes not loading DDS textures in the same way as the previous patch, it seemed like. I don't fully understand why.
  • The "unit" popup boxes in Object Editor show weird squashed layouts, and the "Gameplay Constants" damage factor tables thing crashes for everyone.
  • The purpose of the new patch was ostensibly to add a Ranked Ladder play, but the Ranked Ladder reportedly/allegedly will grant players wins and losses at random that do not correlate to their in-game activities, and there are many reports of this problem
  • (Maybe some other bugs that I'm forgetting, too.)

Edit: So, I don't know if any of this directly helps you, but I wanted to mention it as something for you to know to look out for. Basically, there are possibilities that you might have to find workarounds for map editor features that were working until 4 months ago. That is possible, and you're not crazy.
