To be honest, some bands could be removed such as Alice Cooper and Black Sabbath, Ozzy (hard rock), Slipknot and System of a down (nu-metal, yes many people don't recognize as true metal), Linking park.

Anyway, Running Wild FTW. I doubt I will discover a greater band than them.

Really, the forefathers, Iron Maiden, should take this cake, because not only are they one of the most talented metal bands, they are also one of the first.

My first choice would have been Children of Bodom, however, because they are the most talented metal band these days by far.

Tool is an amazing, amazing band, and Danny Carey is the best drummer in the world, but I don't think that you can really call Tool metal.

Also, Deftones. Deftones sort of skirt the line between hardest-of-rock and alt metal, so they should totally be up there since they're so win.

I disagree. Much. To much of it is just annoying. If you play one CD at a time, it's good.

Frank Zappa has ten times the talent of most of these bands anyway, but since we are discussing metal, it' irrelevant.

Iron Maiden made lots of great and creative lyrics, their guitars have harmony, different then many bands we see, and the main thing: one of the first metal bands, and still one of the greatest ones. Last month we had an Iron Maiden show in Brazil and that was great.

Most power metal is great, Dragonforce gives the genre a bad name. Iced Earth, for example, is an amazing power metal band.

And i'd really classify Blind Guardian as Progressive Metal rather than Folk.

Power metal is EPIC: Human fortress, Sabaton, Timeless miracle, Euroforce, Avantasia, Gamma Ray, Stratovarius, ... and RUNNING WILD!

1) Stratovarius is indeed badass. Black Diamond is my favourite of theirs.

2) Nearbyhermit: you may not like them, but Korn are indeed metal (they pretty much pioneered nu-metal), and, despite being wierd, are highly talented. I mean their frontman can play 9 different instruments, their albums are platinum/double-platinum, they've won Grammy's (Which doesn't really count since they can't be used as a measure of success anymore), etc.

I agree that Motorhead is rock, but KoRn is indeed not.

Sexart was a garrage band made in JD's high school,they got into Cultivation'92 ,they were called Juice back then,but when JD joined they were known as Sexart,they had a guitarist from Orgy,Adema was JD's cousin and was his voice double.And they made lives only in clubs

This is what I know of Sexart ,they say that Brian Armer(the voice of Juice) sang Sexart,but the voice sounds exactly like JD

As far as I know, their concerts certainly suck. Never been to one (they never come here), but I heard that often the concert degenerate to a looong speeches and thanks by Joey deMaio, so they play like 3 songs, and even those are badly protracted with some weird mix. But still I want to see them live once.

But I still don't get why are Dragonforce so famous, when I heard them first, they were 'just another power metal band' and now everybody seems to know them.

Dragonforce are famous because they are featured in Guitar Hero 3, one of the most popular game series ever concieved. Plus, Through Fire and Flames, the song featured, was notorious for being the hardest song on the list, gaining them ADDITIONAL fame.

All in all, they totally blow. All of their music sounds exactly the same.

And Wand Mirror: There are tons of bands without grunts: Anthrax, for example, just about every Power/Prog metal band, Iron Maiden, etc.

Grunts are common, but not used in every metal band, far from it.
