Be honest, how many games have you started but never completed?

I'd like to recruit people to help me on a new map I'd like to make. I know all about the trigger & object editor: I've made random terrain generators that calculates distance to spawn doodads and props, save/load codes, skill shop systems, etc. All super efficient.

I needed to say that so people wouldn't think I can't code and will just sit back and relax...

Anyway, I've started tons of projects, most came close to fruition, but because they were all such big projects and I had a VERY hard time finding testers & hosting, that they were never released.

Here are the details on the map:

Use Gold to buy Heroes & items.
Gain Gold by killing Heroes and Creeps.
Hunt down and kill all the enemy Heroes.
You lose if all your Heroes die.

Details:
- Players control about 4 Heroes
- 4 items/heroes max

I know it sounds very basic, but I want to start small, then expend as needed.

I like your approach. It's always a good idea to start small, select a few features and build the basics of your map. Then expand. Most maps will never get finished because people forget about this and try to achieve everything at once.

Make it small, but make it good. Then make it bigger. That's the golden rule of thump for making good WC3 maps.

well just to answer ur question, for 3 years working in WE, I have started more than 100 maps, and about 5 campaing all of than were finished more than 50% but just 3 are almost, but not totaly finished.

Yes my suggestion is to ur first map be some mini game best to map size is 32x32, do it in a week and share with others.
Its rly stupid when someone want to his first map be aos or orpg.

Hey there,

first of all: /push! The concept of your map sounds like fun!

Since I am not that experienced and skilled regarding WE (i am kinda familiar with the basic GUI Stuff, i cant code Jass except for removing variables ;) ) I was about to ask, if you could use somebody like me? Have you got something like a "project plan"? What Tasks do you want to do on your own and which do you wanna share/outsource?

As you may already have recognized, my English kinda sucks, but after a few hours refreshing my language skills it should be fine to write skill descriptions and stuff.

So I think I am not able to take one of the "Lead Roles" in your Project, but I would offer a little help, if needed.

Let me count.

Too many, even my calculator got syntax error.

......

Syntax error would mean that you inputted something incorrectly into your calculator... (e.g. randint(1,2,3) would say that because it only takes 2 arguments)

My calculator can go up to 10^100, so id say im good :D my num of ditched projects is in the tens

To be completely honest. I have been working on the same project off and on for years. So I guess my answer is 1 surprisingly enough. Luckily this project is big enough to keep me busy without getting bored and wanting to make something else.

mhh how many started about 15 i guess ... published none. actually said kinda loved all of them.

I think more than #@^&*, from those melee, to altered-melee, to "semi-custom" ('cause I still suck at custom maps at that time) to custom maps! Yeah! This brings back memories... I never completed any custom maps 'cause most of them are just spell templates, testing my triggering skills, and then deletes them when I'm satisfied.

I never delete maps. Some of them have a life of their own and can evolve into something.
For instance, this one was only supposed to test out synergy and micro in general and how to use them in maps.
Now it has turned into a game of bossfights. Although not finished, it might have a future.
