[Interceptor]

I want this to be a group where people talk, elaborate, exchange ideas, requests, favours, etc. People who join just to bear the title "Race creator" and to have one more group in their lists are just dust in the wind. Misha, thanks to you and Chaos. I came up the idea of creating this group. Of course I'll make you a judge. But, you see, without strict rules everything floods around and becomes messy. Naturally things tend towards maximum entropy (chaos) so I try to prevent it and you are the ones who try that, too.
On the other hand, letting inside people who don't know anything about races is just... ridiculous?

Speaking of 'dust in the wind', has anyone heard from the following:

Bee Maya, arthas_king, M4stah, Phoonix, RED BARON, RiotGuard, Scyth-Master, utror12, VeljkoM

I have noticed they have not been active. Perhaps a warning is at hand? If so, it should prlly be a private message. However, it is a lot to go through, so if you do that, perhaps copy and paste the same message, warning them of a possible expulsion if they do not wish to take part in such a community?

And, do you have any proof of this... um... his name's not important yet, but the pending guy/gal/mystery/George Bush's claim that they've worked with 'loads of races'? I would like to see if they have anything worth offering.

Well Veljkom has an excuse not to be active. He doesnt have internet this month so he cant get on very often. Once he gets internet, im sure he'll be more active. (and he actually has proof that he is a race creator, (clan wars)) But i dont know about the rest.

Maya is my sister, but that doesn't stop me from kicking her from here. She won't create races I think. But she's a very good photographer.
arthas_king has one map rated 2/5 and that's all.
M4stah is doing a project but hasn't explained anything in here. Same for Phoonix, utror12 and RiotGuard.
RED BARON is a techtree contest winner. I accepted him without further research.
VeljkoM was working on some naga race but hasn't showed activity for looong time.
Scyth-Master is a very good voice actor and I though we might need his help. But dunno if he ever looks what's happening in here.

utror12 is making the draenei and blood elf races for my campaign.

And Veljkom was making my fel orc race. (dont know if he still is)

Dude, could just keep your sister in, we could help her out with making races if she wants, or whatever she wants to do. She interested in art and modelling? Whatever she wants to do, I'm sure I can arrange for her to get some extra help in it, no probs.

Bee Maya, as far as i know has not done anything with a WE, but she can provide drawings of units and tech C: That helps too.

like.. if she draws me one naga i would make that model. buuut, that too is discussable. >:]

yeah, but it would have to be simmilar to war3 naga.... as i am limited by animations, which can't exactly take all kind of geomerges and edits.

Well... Maya is just a begineer in WE... maybe we could kick her only temporary... I think Interceptor could teach her how to make races and then she could become really good race creator.

Oh, yeah, Maya is an absolute beginner. Dunno if I can do something about that in the near month but I can at least try.

Bobbuttons says he has a lot on ATM, but I can't help but think that it's not hard at all to just type a quick message saying hi

I don't think 'pending dude #3' has submitted anything that can really be classed as acceptable for here, but I will hopefully receive an example of his work at some point (sent him a visitor message, so we'll see what he does ).

I say Bee Maya can stay, although I don't mind either way. If she's interested in creating some races, then Interceptor could teach her well, although there is no real set way to make a race. To me, a race makes itself. The features I add, the units I make, everything created by me is the way I envision the race, I am but the hands that creates the vision. The vision comes to me (not quite as creepy as it sounds, but almost there lol ).

Anyway, my point is that if you're going to teach someone to make a race, perhaps show them everything there is to the Object Editor, get them to know about the spells that already exist and perhaps offer some basic triggers, elaborating as they create. She says she has a good imagination, so she shouldn't have any problems there.

Well, as Interceptor says, it's prlly best to actually send her a message rather than talk about her here, so I prlly won't say much more about her here

He's done work on a Demon Race for a campaign and wants to join because he really loves race creating. To me, that's pretty awesome and I think he's worthy enough to join

BTW, since I don't have warcraft on this PC I'm thinking about other things, including our weekly race creation.
What are you going to say about... let's create a nerubian race after the contest? I've already invented a technology that allows you to customise birth animation w/o editing the model itself. That'll make things a lot easier, since the birth animation is a major problem. I'll write out my previous ideas about Nerubians and if we combine them with your own criteria/ideas, the race can be epic, as Chaos. says

Awesome! I like the idea. I'm just wondering if I can be in charge of the Unit Techtree side of things. I have great ideas already, and hope to be able to grasp them at full concept. My techtree involves imports, yes (primarily for units, unsure about the buildings ).

Well, as you say, it would be a combination of our ideas, so I will obviously consider other ideas

I prefer to make buildings, so you can count on me(sometimes xD)

By previlegies he means, that only some users can do some sort of action in this group. I mean it is automatically controlled by the site.

So are we all agreeing with the nerubian as the first WRC (Weekly Race Creation) Or would you guys rather start with something else?

Meh, I don't really care what race we start with, depends on what I feel like at the time. I feel lots of ideas coming with the Nerubians, perhaps I'll make a test map for the race and then we can change things from then? Well, if I'm going to do that, I'd like to hear some of the suggestions you guys have, might add something invaluable

You have the right to call us fakers and remakers if we start editing the Human, Orc, Elf or Undead.
Draenei is a new race, since it doesn't exist in warcraft III as a race lol.

no but it does exist in warcraft lore. be original and create a totaly new thing. like some high civilized race whit damn epic tegnologie and a cool look.

lol, well, the Draenei aren't exactly made or faked
I wouldn't do the Draenei myself because I find the whole overall structure of them to be boring... well, the structure in my head lol, if someone could present them in a new and refreshing way, I might feel inclined to try it out

I'd love to do Pandarens, though, Alagremm's structure has given me ideas for their techtree

Well, I'm used to creating races solo... perhaps I could even do separate projects? I don't mean to sound big headed, feedback is always welcome and taken on board, but I feel more comfortable seeing my ideas develop as I want them to. The reason I wish to work solo is I don't want to dominate from other ppl, which I will probably try to do and fail epicly lol

Oh, wtf Phoonix? We're race creators, not race inventors

A race creator implies creating a non-playable race with your own ideas implemented. What you're suggesting usuall leads to, sad to say, really weird races. Mind you, if we created enough races in lore, then we might feel enough confidence in making new races

The main thing I don't want to do with lore is create a race entirely based on it. I'll think a little bit about a good story, but not the existing one

BTW, Elementals and Nomads are 2 of the 8 races I plan to create for that project thing. I don't think they're in lore, so I guess it's possible

The point of the WRC is also to be social. We interact and have fun together by working on a group project. And who cares if it doesnt turn out exactly like you want it. If you dont like the final result then you can change it to your own personal liking after we are done with it. Another reason why it is good to work together is because, there are some things that might seem awesome to one but sucks for every one else. By working together we can easily realize what is wanted by many. And not just what one person thinks is a good idea.

Elementals exist in lore, they even live in their own reality - titan created prison Elemental Planes(were elementals who served the Old Gods were sent for eternity)
Chaos, as always you are right. Race creating doesnt meen creating totally new races, but this is good too. For example I have an idea for a race. Its a magocratic society(human and elven)that is lost in the various worlds of the twisting nether.

I said, create a race in which you put those units i say to put, as well as some of your choice. (buldings and tech are your choice (if i don't have ideas)

True words, Chaos, and I think that it would especially help us to work together. Well, I do all my work with Object Editor as well as some... basic... triggers (not my forte ), so I'd probably be best for balancing as well as ability creation. As for ideas for units and such, we shall put them together, so long as we include the Nerubian Spear Thrower (which would be called something else ) lol.
