My new Diablo III map is a fast RPG map with many references
to the first Diablo III Gameplay Trailer and the Blizzcon 2008 Diablo III Demo:
The map is the Prequel of my Diablo III Borderlands map. It is the first part of my Diablo III Campaign. Borderlands is the second part.
Story
Two decades have passed since the demonic lords, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, set out across the world of Sanctuary on a vicious rampage, twisting humanity to their unholy will. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils, the memory fades slowly.
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram Cathedral seeking clues to defeat new stirrings of evil, a fiery harbinger of doom falls from the heavens, striking the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. This fire from the sky reawakens ancient evils and calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells once again.

Gameplay:
You've recreated the diablo level really well, the sequences, the quests, the events, ...
There's also a lot of movement, creatures jumping at you, with their own specialties.
All of the diablo 3 characters are also available, with their most fun spells and with really neat looking and fitting spell icons.
Also a custom UI texture!
The map lasts really long, there's a lot of content and a lot of different creatures, so it doesn't get boring too soon.
Combat is also very satisfying, with all the blood effect.
This one is really, really long and there's quite a lot of content, completely different area types, first you're outside, then inside a castle, etc.
Terrain:
An amazing terrain work, very detailed, a lot of custom textures and models used to make the map really feel and look diablo-like. The cliffs are smooth, the river is really neat and even though it's such a huge map, every inch of the terrain is detailed and polished.
Other:
Neat loading screen image and preview image, as well as a nice THW description.
Overall:
Another amazing diablo 3 recreated level made by Booody, a lot of content, for multiple people packed with intense combat and a gorgeous environment.
So far awesome, only thing thats bothering me is the massive lag energy twister(Wizards Spell) causes and the outdoor terrain fades away compared to the monastery.
After playing and finishing this on Singleplayer with Barbarian, all that I can think of is:
"HOLY... COW... MUST... GIEF... RAEPPPZZZzzz..."
No, really I'm serious. The Terrain is epic. Not to mention that you're able to replicate D3W's Terrain and make it more see-able. Although I really hate the fact that I don't get to fight Leoric. Not to mention that at one point (after killing the ghosts), I got a thinking that I got stuck until I see a small ladder there. Also, I like the Icons of Borderlands more, but that just me. Overall pretty awesome.
I want to say that the map is only an alpha version. In the full version you will fight against Leoric the Skeleton King in his throne room and you will go in a new outdoor area. There will be the Siegebreaker then. If the time has come I will release more screenshots.
The indoor and outdoor terrain is not final in this version. In the full version the Terrain will be improved
Quest givers talk too slow, gets moving real fast.
There is a glitch which allows you to pick up staffs. If you manage to pick up two items before one is dropped the trigger won't persue the second item.
If you drop pick drop pick the same item 5 times you'll get it into your inventory. Only worked once though. :/
The camera is quite shaky. Perhaps you could set the camera z to the player + camera height every 0.01 second using a timer.
Perhaps use something like this?
Set rect = (Position of Heroes[PlayerViewing[(Integer A)]])
Camera - Pan camera for (Player((Integer A))) to rect over 0.10 seconds
Camera - Set (Player((Integer A)))'s camera Angle of attack to 315.00 over 0.01 seconds
Camera - Set (Player((Integer A)))'s camera Rotation to 140.00 over 0.01 seconds
Custom script: set udg_z = GetCameraField(CAMERA_FIELD_ZOFFSET)+300 - (256- GetLocationZ(udg_rect))-GetCameraTargetPositionZ()
Camera - Set (Player((Integer A)))'s camera Height Offset to z over 0.05 seconds
Custom script: call RemoveLocation(udg_rect)
The life bar of the chests are visible after death. Change this by adding locus once destroyed.
The pillars can move if you leap near them. Perhaps make the leap unable to pushback structures.
I actually had WAY more fun playing this, then diablo 3 warcraft. it's just more dynamic hackn' slash theirs is just too warcraftisch (it's also good too, no offenste )
anyway: the only thing I have to complain about the terrain outside the cathedral. around the walls of the location where your quests are starting, it's just plain grass and some bushes, that are placed in the same direction and scaling :/ fix that and also, I WANT TO PLAY AGAINST THE SKELETON KING
Looks awesome! But it sais KI instead of AI and when Skeleton king sais: "You dare to bring the warmth of life into my tomb?" it should be ?! insted of just ? in the end.
Great job anyway.
There's this room where you try open a chest, doors close and ghosts start spawning until you destroy the obelisks. I think the number of ghosts spawned in total per obelisk should be limited, because that room could be used to farm max lvl by Hold Positioning near the obelisk so that ghosts autoattack you but you won't accidently attack the obelisk.
Brutally Honest Review #2!
This map has definately improved from borderlands but still has some of the same problems. I get massive lag when casting the Wizard's energy twister thing. Most of the spells are still rips from CloudWolf's map. The grammar is still terrible and there's a part at the beginning of the game when you talk to the women she says something then she says something else before you can finish reading and if you walk by the bandit he says something too so your screen is just spammed with bullshit fix that up please. You can just walk by the Thousand Pounder at that point of the map he won't follow you nor is there a pathing blocker at the top of the stairs so you can just go up the stairs and out the door without fighting him. The balancing is still alright but it remains a problem. The mongrol spell is still messed up mongrol still don't follow you. Everything else is ok.... So it earns you this professional review of 3.5\5 and a personal review of 4\5 (I liked this alot more than borderlands but it still needs imba work.
I also noticed that the items you can pick-up aren't supposed to be used by your class in most cases and this hasn't been fixed from borderlands which greatly reduces your rating.

Again, you are overreacting a little, although in this one i didn't get the map to translate since booody just based it on the borderlands map. But i have contacted booody and i should be getting the map to improve the dialogues

I'm not overreacting in any way a map must be almost absolutely perfect and without error in my opinion to become a 4\5 - 5\5 map. This map is way too buggy to beat cloudwolf's or get a rating above 3\5 the terrain carries the map without the terrain this map is like a 2\5.
And if you're wondering how come I am making these assements. > Because I am a very low profile very skilled mapper.
And btw this map is MUCH more stable than borderlands I thought borderlands what a pretty bad rip-off which would be declined without good terrain.
I played this map as a wizard to the end, and i have to say that this is pure awesomeness. Although never saw a Item Set for the wizard class, that could be because i only went through the game once. I think this is a very good map, and the terrain was really nice.

1-7 marks = (1) Poor quality map, unfit for the Hive (usually a beginners map)
8-14 marks = (2) The beginnings of a map are there, but it still needs work and is likely unfinished.
15-21 marks = (3) An adequate map, is fun for a game or two and functions.
22-28 marks = (4) Shows promise and has some interesting features; playability is high.
29-35 marks = (5) A fine example of Hive-quality; will keep you entertained for several games at least and updates are looked forward to.
35+ marks = (6) A simply brilliant warcraft map. Features are flawlessly implemented, code is legit, game is fun, and the constraints of
Warcraft 3 are challenged.
Subsection Review
Terraining (5/5) - Although you do draw on many of Cloudwolfs original ideas and some of the actual environment itself is snapshotted from Diablo 3 trailers, it is nevertheless brilliant and beautifully implemented.
Triggering (N/A) - Map is protected, thus this section will be discounted.
Gameplay (14/15) - A.I. heroes are available that follow you wherever you go, combat enemies, and use abilities. A plethora of different creeps fill the tristram cathedral dungeon; many of them have special attributes or spells that make it so you must combat them differently. Dungeon "feel" is awsome and is supplemented by the combat, characters, environment, items, and general gameplay. Random events are very cool (Cain's archer being crushed by a nearby collapsing wall was epic). On the con side, the creeps need to be weaker to give it that more "hack n' slash" feel we have come to love and expect from Diablo games. I experienced a large amount of lag in the first dungeon fight where you are swarmed by ghouls and during some Boss activity. The Wizards twister ability causes horendous lag; fix it or remove it.
Innovation/Originality (6/10) - While you did take some ideas from Cloudwolfs "Diablo Warcraft" map and this is ofcourse based on Blizzard's upcoming Diablo 3 (both of which I must count you down for), you still did much yourself and the overall sense I got was that this was an innovative project that can be set apart from the rest.
Interface/Object Editor Work (5/5) - Ability tooltips are well-done and adequately detailed. The UI is appropriately modified and helps the user understand gameplay. A custom interface is even used!
Errors and Suggestions
- You spelled strength wrong in the Bone Chestpiece tooltip
- Nerf the spawn rates of the ghosts in the four-obelisk room
- The Witch Doctor's "Dark Helmet" item has a usable ability that does nothing or isn't mentioned in the tooltip
- During the first Deckard Cain interaction, the hero says "Cain you still alive!" instead of "Cain you're still alive!"
- The Frozen Sword is not classified as a Barbarian item even though it says it is in the tooltip
- The first Boss's knockback ability causes notable lag
- When the game is over (and your entire team is dead) nothing happens. Your screen just sits there and stares at your body. I would suggest implementing some sort of end-game message or official ending.
- In the first village-area (before any combat) my screen was filled up with text. If you base this on when I get near npcs you need to decrease the text-trigger radius for the npcs. If its a timed thing you need to just make it so there is less text.
- There is a really cool mirror-image icon for the blizzard in the icon section that I would recommend using.
- As a witch doctor, I was able to pick up a shortsword by consecutively picking up two of them within a second or so:

Remove the "My Maps", that's called ads and it isn't allowed.
Edit: somehow, with each new diablo 3 map he makes, he puts my name deeper and deeper in the description so no one will find it
That was really good, loved the terrain, spells, etc. Although, like N1ighthawk pointed out, I too picked up a barbarian class weapon, but as a Wizard. It was a Frost Blade of some sort. I loved the fog effects and the feel of New Tristram that you brought with this map. The only thing I disliked was that the same music was played over and over and over again. How about some creepy New Tristram music, and some creepy dungeon music? That is, if the file size will allow it.
All in all, great map, loved it, very fun
4.5/5
2 main problems.
When you walk off the edge of bridges that creeps crawl out of you are teleported to the start of the dungeon. this becomes a problem if you walk off the bridge present in the middle of the dungeon.
The problem with the inventory system still exists. you could try to mute items that players pick up if they are not their class's (though i don't actually like that, i rather you fix your inventory system as it is)
extra: the translation still has many errors. e.g: the class of "axe of courage" is Barbar. who's that?
3/5 just because it has no siegebreaker yet, thus no ending. and that makes it less fun to play than borderlands.

AMAZING JOB!! ;D
A great map, very fun, very diablo!
I loved the outdoor terrain especially, looks just like in the Diablo III gameplay video! (inside the cathedral as well)
