20 YEARS OF HIVE WORKSHOP

Today marks a significant milestone as HIVE Workshop celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Thanks to @frostwhisper for creating this video.

Two decades ago, the platform began as a simple forum I created alongside my friend, Bloodletter, to gather feedback for our Warhammer 40,000 TD map.

However, I soon discovered a deeper passion for developing the site itself, leading me to shift its focus from just our map to a broader modding community. That decision has shaped HIVE Workshop into the vibrant hub it is today.

Over the years, we've been fortunate to witness and support some of the coolest modding projects ever created—innovative maps, game enhancements, and custom content that push the boundaries of creativity. We’re incredibly proud to be part of the excellence our community continues to produce.

To celebrate this milestone, we’re hosting a special gaming session tonight at 20:00 UTC+2, where we’ll be playing some of the most amazing projects our community has brought to life. Everyone is welcome to join in and take part in the fun!

As a simple mapmaker, I want to express my sincere gratitude for everything this platform has done for modders and developers over the years. HIVE is not just a place to share ideas and maps—it’s a community where we support each other, learn, and create something new and incredible. A huge thank you to everyone behind this amazing place—from the founders to the members. You keep our creative environment alive and thriving. I’m sure even more awesome projects and successes await us in the future!

It turns out that I had no idea about HIVE’s anniversary, but by a happy coincidence, the release of my project is scheduled for tomorrow. It seems like a spontaneous gift for HIVE’s big day!

Hive has grown to be a significant part of the Warcraft 3 modding community over the years, hosting content ranging from fun to masterfully made maps, spell packs and systems, models, icons, tools and more.

It has been fun seeing this site evolve through the years, as it hosted numerous contests, projects, and discoveries / quirks within the game which modders can utilize to further enhance the quality of their maps.

May there be more developments, discoveries and new and exciting content to come.

However its not just the site. Its a huge congratulations and thanks to Ralle for keeping with it for all these years, giving the rest of us a place to visit, stay at and grow with.

Hive was and somehow still is, a huge part of how my life ended up and it will forever be in my mind. It is rather crazy that it has already been that long.
Damn how time flies. So many missed from back then, including myself. The days when I could just sit in my room modding, posting things on Hive and recognize many others there. Luckily we still have a good strong showing of the veterans here, but I miss seeing Shados purple text or Wolfrabid (been so long I don't even remember the name correctly, and with the new member showing system, I can't go back far enough in the categories to find them).

Its a well deserved birthday!
