Introduction

Archimonde's Arena is a Warcraft III: Frozen Throne map where players must choose a unique hero to fight off creeps in an arena-style battle. Heroes each have four different abilities; three normal abilities and an "ultimate".
These abilities in combination make each hero powerful, but teamwork is required in order to defeat all the levels of the game.

News

I am currently rewriting all of the map's code, so that it performs better and there are less bugs. This is going well, but will still take some time.

I am also considering making a PvP (player versus player) version, where players must kill creeps to earn points. The player/team with the most points after each round will win that round, and gain some sort of bonus.
I will obviously need to adapt the current abilities to be able to have heroes fighting against each other. If you have any ideas for this, please let me know.

- Special creeps spawn with each level, which have abilities to use against players.
- Fight up to 25 levels of creeps which get increasingly difficult each level.
- Take on 5 bosses which also have 4 abilities each.

Well all maps must be playable with patch 1.24, and quite soon with 1.25...

How is that even possible?! I have version 1.24e and it worked perfectly fine when testing! I think it must have been the map optimizer that I used! I have uploaded a new one that should work. Please tell me whether it works...

Okay so it works now, but why does a mantle of intelligence give +3 agi and also I found on round 5 if you played solo and got surrounded by the kobolds you got what seemed like a perma stunlock >.< not fun.

EDit: it would be nice if the bots bought stuff as the game went on also round 15 doesn't teleport you back to the outside where you can buy stuff I also though 1 minute between rounds is a bit short for new players maybe start the round via everyone being "ready" or increase the time a little. Also I would Strongly suggest that the bots wait at least 30 sec to pick their heroes; I played with a friend who got pissed off because the bot picked his hero before he got a chance to.

Hi, thanks for the feedback!

- I just checked now and the Mantle of Intelligence does give +3 intelligence :eekani:...
- I will change the special ability of the Kobolds to something without stun.
- I also just tested and you do get teleported back to base after level 15. Must have been some weird glitch...
- I changed it so that the bots pick 45 seconds into the game (forgot to change it from testing).
- I will add a "ready" function in the next version.

map seems interesting going to test, will give "Game Play" Feedback ONLY (no triggers)

EDIT: ok here is what i got:

The Bad Stuff:
- AI wont buy anything later on, that then he dies and leaves me alone fighting :p
- Bashes for the rusty pickaxe STACKS :D
- the kobold whatever their name is, epic perma bashes lol
- some items are just too powerful :p
- Not enough time between rounds :(
- AI CHOOSING MY HERO :mad:
- Players 2-4 cant choose their hero, unless they random :S

The Good Stuff:
- the terrain is not bad
- Heroes are unique dude ME LIKE :D
- Arena is not bad arena, but can be bigger :)
- and everything els i guess

Suggestions:
- more time to buy read and stuff like that
- AI choose hero little later
- balance the items :p
- more heroes babe (^^)
Will give more soon :)

Note:
the map is not bad and fun to play, i think the only problem right now is the items and the AI, i didnt play for long, my war3 crashed no idea why :S

Points
Description =>7/10 (A bit Short but i think you said enough about it. There are screenshots too)

Gameplay => 6/10 (Some Heroes are really weak, like the Ice Queen)

Script => 8/10 (I think everything is working well, just i thought sometimes i had some lags. If there are leaks you should fix them)

Terrain => 3/10 (Ah, that's the bad point about your map. The Middle of the Arena is just too simple. You should change it, there also should be some Spots where u can Hide as Range Hero etc. You could also do more then 1 Arena, that can be chosen in the beginning ;))

AI => 3,5/5 (For this map is just a simple AI needed, but i think yours is working well, just a few bugs with Items in late game etc.)

Umm... ya.. hi der. it seems that the devotion aura from Bladebane Armor is also given to the enemy creeps.. might want to fix that... :thumbs_up: Good Luck

And also the AI buys only 3 items and thats it! I know ur working on that, but try faster :)

This is really a good idea :goblin_good_job: I played it for an hour or so yesterday with bots...cant wait to play it with real people :goblin_yeah:
EDIT:But it also took me about 15 minutes to figure out I need to type -ready when you want to enter the arena xD

going to post a new feedback for you (will be about game play only)

EDIT: ok tested, here is what i got:

The bad stuff:
- the lightning revenant ulti, USELESS!!! i find NO use for it, it like another version of the electric sheild, but worst, because the electric shield you can attack (so you get lifesteal, that will make it hit, and AoE hit) and the ulti, is just stand and dance until you die -_- PLEASE CHANGE

The good stuff:
- terrain improved
- arena improved
- starting location in the arena is better now :)
- "ready" system awesome

Suggestions:
- now because no one takes boots anymore (only cawords) how about you make a new hero, that have like barathrum (from dota) ability the: when gained MS this units get #% damage, and also increases his MS with #% you get my point here?
- change the lighting guy ultimate
- more arenas, like one time this, next time that, so it wont be boring ;)
- you could add whats the next wave will be, so you know if you should continue with this item or choose that item :p you get what im trying to say here?

Anyways map is GrEaT

The map is great and all, but it's just too easy and gets boring really fast. I suggest adding bosses with unique abilitys after every 10 or so waves. You could also nerf the skills you can buy from the unit that looks like silencer (in dota) most of them are too imba. Basically if you get the INT blast skill you can kill steal almost all of the kills and so easily it's not even funny.

This game is too easy..

I was able to solo as priest buying the ability "Blast of intelligence" and just focus on getting high intellect.

I came to level 20, but died there :p

Anyway, nice map.

Things to be fixed shud be:
Fix terrain a bit.
Nerfing the Buying abilites.
Making boss waves, like every 5 wave for a bonus gold.

Overall 3/5 | May be higher if you fixes a little bit.

Make the game more challenging, like add boss every *level or make one stronger unit for each wave. because it's boring to fight creeps without interesting ability :hohum:

But overall it's nice map Gj.

found a bug in the new version:

the mind staff recipe says in the text that it should cost 700. instead it actually costs 2075 which is the amount this item would cost in total.
please hotfix that

also small suggestion: having a priest with "chain lightning" while having a lightning revenant as an avaiable hero? it seems a bit weird. maybe rename it at least(like i dont know...cleansing wave or multi inquisition or something which would fit a priest) so its not that irritating.

Hey, I think I found error, about the priest ultimate ability.
When i was lvl 23 and my ultimate lvl 4 it's say, heal all heroes 10 x priest int. My int is 102 and the heal amount should be 1020 each heroes right? But my hero and allies only got 200++, is that divided amongst heroes? If not that's must be error, need to fix that :)

After ready, change the timer to 3, to make it quick. That's just a suggestion.
 
I'd recommend taking the image (Archimonde's Arena) in Photoshop and convert it from Indexed to RGB ;) (There's a special way to tell)

I like this map :)
It's pretty good :D
I only have one suggestion: You could change the Upkeep text from "Archimonde's Arena v1.3 AI" to something shorter that could fit (This would increase map visuals a lot)

Something like "AA v1.3 AI" would be suitable, or to avoid people mistaking it for Angel Arena lol, you could simply put "v1.3 AI" :)

let's say something about this :)

quite fun map to play but if you don't cheat u can't defeat archimonde because your hero transforms into doomguard and then archimonde aims only at you so when your doom guard dies game stand's in "unlimited space and time" XD
So probably that's a bug... still map is under development so you can only make it better :)

Okay After playing the latest version I must say it's a lot more polished now, however it would be nice if the AI bought at least type specific Items instead of all the same thing at the very least you could have 3 sets and depending on if it was Strength Intelligence or Agility buy a set based around that. Even to a certain extent that wont work well but its better than what it is now( eg necromancer works best with Mana/Attackspeed not INT)

Found a crash too, trying to reproduce now; as a Necromancer I died on the Naga round the blademaster AI finished the round and my w3 Fatal error-ed when it was trying to revive me

also a quick suggestion I would say give the necromancer's spells that's damage is based off the casters intelligence

EDIT: found another bug on round 21 the AI dont "ready"

You need to have custom heroes, I tried 2 of them (thief and lightning master) and there were only 2 spells that were custom. Be creative, you have a master of lightning, his Ult is simple, but effective, you should think of other spells like this one.

Thief is just simple mix between blademaster, warden and demon hunter, nothing special or exciting to play with.

maybe you should make a stealth mode or something fun to use.
