This map is based from the original version 1.31 by Skamigo. I improved it very well to make it better by focusing on the gameplay. As of version 2.62, I renamed the map to Wintercore HD because it's not just his map now but ours and it can continue motivate me to continue the map.

Anyone can download the unprotected version of the map. You can edit, modify it or learn from it. (Note: Loading time is horribly slow which takes a minute <Makes it eat my time developing the map>). The Unprotected version of the file is always attached to my latest comments when a version releases.

There will be a time when I will stop releasing updates for a while as to do other important things in life. When that comes I will return someday and add some things that I have learned.

Just defeated expert on hard, and holy crap the last boss was insanely hard. He was easily killing me despite being 1 step away from Core Existence. Truly an expert difficulty.

Tho I have a question, the Elemental Mage's Thunder Strike, it says x4000 spell power. Yet it always felt so weak, like the God's Wand does more damage to practically anything I hit it with despite being only a x1000 wisdom (and I have far less wisdom). My single use to is was just to push bosses around.
My main source of damage was every other spell beside my Omega Spell.

Is it me just experiencing some weird bug? Is it because I don't know how to hit things with an AoE attack? Or is the spell just that weak? I have zero clue.

Also, the Robot Minigame that gives diamond, plant more trees behind the Altar cause the player can just walk up there and skip the entire half of the segment. Making it a super easy 20 dia.

Nice to see that the Expert Difficulty actually brings challenges.

The Elemental Mage's lighting deals normal spell damage meaning it will be affected by the enemies spell resistance. I tested it and the damage numbers line up properly. I did find a bug on that spell -- It actually deals 7,000 x Spellcraft when it's actually stated to be 4,000 so it's actually stronger. I'll fix that in next version to 4000 x Spellcraft. I'll set the damage type to Universal too so that it won't be affected by Spell Resistance and it won't be too weak since it's an omega spell.

On the Robot minigame, I tested it and confirmed that it can be bypassed just by walking on the trees. I'll add more trees and invisible walls. Thanks for telling me.

just finished played abyssal mode on expert with friends and "-bringiton" turned on. we found a command bug. while trying to distribute wealth, my friend accidently typed an extra "0" to -give gold and -give lumber to others and somehow his resources wasn't used. instead, even after typing several times, there was no cap to it as if it was a cheat and it made us filthy rich :mwahaha:. although some of us did die occasionally and it just shows how hardcore it was. some bosses and creeps also became invulnerable and blocked every attack until -debug wave is used and the last part was 🧀 ? come on!

It wasn't actually a bug it's a thing for player 1 (the host) to moderate during the game giving them cheat powers.

Here's a little experience I remembered from 2013 or 2014 something when the version was 2.43 - I once hosted a game using garena (which I only did only once ever) and 5 other random players joined. Later on, some troll stole another player's item that was dropped on the ground and never returned it. I tried to de-escalate the situation but to no avail. Can't do anything about it. That's when I realize that I should add something for the host giving them powers (give or remove gold or diamonds, remove gold, kick a player). Overall the game was still fun but we didn't win in the end though, I surprised and made everyone laugh using the "-boom" command that's not in the current versions (I'll reintroduce it in the future just for fun).

Anyway, I'll add a command in the next version (or after that) the command "-gift" available for all players to type. As for the last part, cheese for now :3. More will be added in the future (like fireworks, congratulatory messages... maybe something about end scoring system if I could... Or bigger Chee-)

i see. well, we did limit getting only 50 diamonds from 1st round tho since bringiton barely gave any chance to breathe and even with that, we did loose...almost a hundred rounds before manage to win once with randomizing heroes. i did see the nick "bluegreen" last time while at garena as well in several games like fortress survival, skamigo hero defense, vampirism. :piru:

I didn't use the name bluegreen there. I use an obnoxious name (though not in offensive way of course) that I'm too embarassed to share of (Oh! My teenage days...). Yeah, I just choose random names and bluegreen is one of them. Thinking of changing it but won't bother cause it would just end up in another random name (I'm not good at naming things :D) and this map is already known with my name on it.

Anyway, I did test impossible diff with cheats. Some waves do get unkillable no matter what I do like Expert Wave 33 - Aqua Lord. I'll remove the damage block on impossible difficulty. It seems the damage engine is hitting it's limits.

Just finished Abyss Dif on Expert on Solo (I'm starting to question my life choices). Was insanely hard, but I found a hero that can conveniently do it. I noticed 2 weird things:
1. is in the image, like does Gamble Master normally spawn with a dropped Sperical Blood?

2. I didn't get a replay or screenshot, but the final boss for some reason always dies immediately. I don't think it was my hero cause I tried playing it again, but my hero was still walking when he spawned and died. My running theory (lol) is that he died to the Ultimate Tower (with Kings Armor) somehow before his stats got buffed by the triggers or something. I doubt it was the bear cause the bear isn't that strong.
Either that or I just didn't notice my hero shotting him in one hit.

3. The Omega boss tried to bug on not showing the Wave Clear, but the wave debugging commands solved it, so no major issues there.

Either way, I still can't beat Abyss Expert using other heroes. lol. The Crab + Sludge combo is too strong to face head-on for most heroes I've tried.

oh i forgot to mention about some of the bugs as well...and winning solo is almost impossible on that mode unless....using certain commands :ogre_hurrhurr: . Also.....
1. yes it actually does and its exploitable by using debug wave to get multiple spherical blood.

2. It is intentional. just read the script and you'll know.

as for me, i think we won impossible mode just because we really got lucky and got golden knight, drakon, avatar chaos, and spider queen. even so, being able to win solo is epic!

i do remember last time "teenage days" i met a player nicked bluegreen on garena and he told me that he was the map creator and we even did duo play. or maybe he's an imposter. also, didn't fortress survival also had someone with bluegreen nick as one of the map creator? and known with the infernal builder....ohh the good ol days....when garena hosted warcraft games

- The Gamble Master should be given the spherical blood but since I forgot to actually give it to him. The code gives it to a unit that does not exist so it drops in that certain place. Easy Fix.

- It is actually not caused by the divine tower with king's armor. I tested it and he still dies without it. What I found is that when he is given spherical blood at abyssal he dies for unknown reason. I easily fixed this by adding a 0.10 second wait before giving the item which is very weird and doesn't make sense at all (another game engine bug that's beyond for me to fix).

- I'll put the Omega Boss bug on the list that i'll fix in the future.

Congrats on beating expert on Abyssal. I'm glad to see others spending lots of time playing the map.

Yeah that's a different guy. This is the only map that I released. I did not release other maps except from one no-effort slop I randomly posted on epicwar.

I didn't win it without save spamming of course, I'm not that try hard yet (have no memorized the waves). The Sniper hero is the only one hero I found that can win for now, with quite a lot of cheese that Mr. Map-Maker will nerf soon(noooooooooo). I'll list the basic core of what I did.

1. At wave 1, just run the hero towards the shop above. the robots will priorities your hero, so you can basically kill all of them no issue and get a LOT of money (they cant go to that place). Buy Tauren Totem for damage, and Rexar Totem for the bear stats. As for the bear, bring it along. can't risk to waste money.
2. at wave 2, Aim for the big crab immediately or he will kill you. Buy towers to deal with the little ones.
3. Wave 3, kill the big sludges first, the small ones has manageable damage. more towers, Buy damage taker cause the bear will die, unless your good at micro (which im not). You need the taunt to run around. BE CAREFUL of the elite sludge, he will break all towers no issue, 3 shot the bear and the damage taker. You need to pick your targets. This is where I usually load the game.
4. wave 10, don't fight the boss immediately. just taunt, run, bear stun when possible then nuke them with your ult to stun more.

after that......... just play.
4. Always make sure you have 10k for the BS levels where you just can't react in time before the base dies (sniper wave, marine wave, more robot waves). You just won't be able to handle those levels where they just oneshot the base (un-upgraded) due either range or just them spawning in base.
5. Attackspeed is key. Buy that crit with attackspeed that cost 40k or something, its basically the only item you need for a long long time.
6. Repair a lot, the towers are not long for the world if your not willing to spend money to repair them. even if you upgrade them.
7. Most important, the currier can be used to cheese the Winter Core boss. You just send it there and the sniper guy can just kill it safely. You can't do it early cause you do no damage.
8. Cheese the warlock the moment you can do damage on him. Use the currier again. That spherical blood is your only hope.
9. Your main source of diamonds is basically just the wintercore boss. The other sources are only viable when you feel safe and strong to just risk leaving the base a little - the mobs will no dif the tower. The King's Armor drop, just give it to the Ultimate Tower or something.

As for the number of towers and when to upgrade them, you try it - its mostly about the feel. I have zero nitpicking in how to do it cause I just usually go "oh shit, I'm gonna die next wave... maybe." then waste time by just standing in the base too afraid to leave sometimes.

I'm not trying other heroes, I can't - after some tries, i realized "holy crap, I am not going to break my keyboard doing this." and gave up. who knows if there are more that can win.

our style is different. we're more to spamming crafts...especially capitalism at first, so by wave 10 we already have our 1st or 2nd diamond star and whenever we are able, we buy talisman for stat & craft increment so we can tank the later waves and then buy eye of unknown to be able to nuke them. can u share your gameplay? :cool:2

I'll try, its going to be pure pain to play without saving constantly :xxd:. as for rushing talisman and crafts, I usually just go for stats first cause I'm playing solo. Crafts are good, but they don't really help my character tank some hits early game. That's why the sniper was a gamechanger cause I stopped caring about my hero dying.

Finally, the end of my journey.
*insert phainon drama

here is me cheesing the game to win.
1.29 btw. so dunno how replay works.
extremely impressive gameplay. ah and the end, did u notice the big black cat? i think its a troll!! LOL. uh and there is another bug for wolf whisperer. when you type -t, just the camera points to the castle but the hero did not move from its location

Nice! I saw the replay, you did great! Though the expert last boss has some stomach issues as of this moment... Anyway, There will certainly be difficulty adjustments in the next version. The things you can do in the current version will be different in the next one.

On the wolf whisperer bug, I'll look into it in the future. On the other note, Yes! the funi cat, I just randomly stumbled upon it on this site and I think... why not?

I got tricked by it during my first win on expert(only on hard), I kept trying to pick up the cat the entire time. lol. I even sold all the cheese to see if the cat will move or not.
The cat wont do anything but spin forever and ever :) (Protecting the universe from baddies with just presence alone). Here's a fun fact: If you found all the shades and get the item (Only on non-expert mode). Look closely and you will see.

i think there are 2 hero that are able to win solo on expert. sniper and the new secret spirit hero. since the new hero can turn most of the wave mobs into your pet and the 1st would be the huge crab
As for me, It will be way harder for Chooser Spirit to survive on Abyssal Difficulty. I tried it and did not survive till the Ogres (Trying my best to keep the Lord of Crabs alive). Maybe someone way more skilled can do it we'll see. The major roadblock for this new hero are the Wave 16 Cultists, they completely obliterate all the Spirit's units.

-

I'll release the next version in a couple of days. These are the changelogs. I'll also provide a Beta Version for you guys to test and play.

last time i got chooser spirit, we managed to get until aqua lord before the block bug appeared. i just put the units that had longer range near the box area so they wouldn't get attacked and buff them continuously when able. but, i prioritize buffing the sniper and marine mob that i got and they were my main killer

It's much more doable when there are multiple players. But on expert abyssal solo, It's basically almost impossible. I managed to past wave 8 where the turtles are. I lost because I'm saving for the Divine Shield at wave 10 even if I survived it, I'm not confident I could beat the boss.

This is my replay below. This is using version 2.72c Beta 1 that is a bit easier for solo players. (The map is attached in my previous post)

last night i tried to play solo by randoming to get chooser spirit. i restarted game for i think almost 50 times and only get the hero once... and on the turtles wave, i think that i got the big boss that moves very slow, has ultra long range and teleports when attacked and also the mob wave of golem, which when attacked, looks like it has a magic shield as tanker

Bug report. 2 of them. Was on Normal mode, abyss dif.
1. Lightning mage's I think it was his Omega Spell or the item, I can't tell. But it killed the angel who sold the Core of Existence instantly after he was spawned, he probably wasn't invulnerable or something for a split second and died.

2. Same hero, his item's ability never vanished.... dunno why.
Events:
  • I bought it, then used it. It lasted quite a while but it eventually turned off.
  • I used it after cd and then for some reason it lasted shorter?
  • then later I used it again, and for some reason lasted longer?
  • then used it again and it never turned off ever again....
I don't really know how many times I used it before the spell never stopped, but its duration was very inconsistent. Probably cause I kept dying while the skill was active cause the ability never turned off even when I'm dead. So I just abused it by hugging the greater warlock or other bosses and just die beside them, while my skill gets to hit them for the entire respawn time I have - then do it again (cause the spell would just move back to me after I revive, so I'll just hug them again and die).

That's an ancient bug that's reported. Thanks for telling me. I'll fix this in future version 2.73 after the one I'll release shortly. I plan to improve lightning mage next. (Version 2.72c is for Fire Mage and Faerie Dragon)

The duration of the personal item spell actually scales with spellcraft (I'll make it so that it won't scale after the fix). I literally forgot the spell since it's been ages since I added it which was the time when I'm not that good at map making (before 2015). That spell is made by someone and I can rewrite it to fix it.

Version 2.72c has now been released! (February 15, 2026) []

Major Changes:
-o-
Added Diamond Stats in the Multiboard
-o- Added "-gift command
-o- Added What's new in Info Quests
-o- Overhauled Info Quests (in a way to be more beginner friendly)
-o- The Wintercore Embodiment's message has been changed.
- If dies too much, a unique message will now show
- At certain point, he will no longer fight back would not give diamonds if he dies too much.

-o- Difficulty System changed. On the surface nothing really has changed. But here are the changes
-x-x-x-x-x- HP and Damage are now scalable by Player counts [1=0.75x , 2=1.00x , 3=1.25x, 4=1.50x, 5=1.75x, 6=2.00x]
-x-x-x-x-x- Meaning the game is now easier for single player and more challenging for multiplayer)
-x-x-x-x-x- HP and Damage is now directly modified instead of relying on a global aura

-o- Waves Captains (The burning enemies that appear in Nightmare and above) has been remade
-x-x-x-x-x- No longer rely on Damage Engine (No longer 100% 2x Custom Critical Strike)
-x-x-x-x-x- They now spawn with 2x HP and Damage than their counterparts.

Expert Wave Changes:
-o- Wave 12 Marines can now summon stealth siege drones (75% transparent) that only attacks structures. They summon once per 3 - 8 seconds if the marine attacks.
-o- Wave 16 Cultist will no longer deal extra damage to units with resistant skin.
-o- Wave 33 Advanced Unstable Drones can now defuse their explosion if there are no units that will be affected by explosion.

Technical Changes:
-o- Updated the code of the Unstable Drones [Now fully Multi Instanceable]. Also added for the drones the ability to defuse (Only in certain waves).
-o- Added Universal Move to Point Spell System [Also fully MUI and highly configurable]. I will use this to create more spells in the future. Used by Fire Mage's Flame Travel and Faerie Dragon's Mystical Orb.

Bug Fixes:
-o- Fixed Elemental Mage's Omega Spell [Divine Lightning] damage to what is written in tooltip which is 4000 x Spellcraft. Also set the damage type to Universal (Spell Resistance will be bypassed)
-o-
Added Invisible Walls in the Drone mini-game alongside the trees to prevent the drone from bypassing the star showers area.
-o- Fixed Expert Wave 38 - Gamble Master's Abyssal Difficulty given item "Spherical Blood" not being sent to him instead dropping to the undefined point which is near the castle.
-o- Fixed Quests descriptions about Expert Wave having inaccurate description. (Originally planned to be 60 waves but changed later to 40 waves due to insane time need to complete it and the game would take too long. Forgot to update the quest logs)
-o- Fixed Expert Wave 40 - The Divine Evil dying after spawning in Abyssal Difficulty by just adding wait delay before giving Spherical Blood. (Weird.. the coding looks right, Spherical Blood giving 100,000 All stats causes this but there's a deeper unknown issue there.)
-o- Blimp can no longer be teleported to the Wintercore Area from the obelisk
-o- Fixed Net Worth Leaderboard not updating when using "-give" command

Hero Changes:
-o- Chooser Spirit's Units are now granted Resistant skin and Gold Colored Names.

Fire Mage
-o- He is now a high mobility hero at late game.
-o- His mana is increased by 1000 and mana regen by 5.
-o- Ulti Skill "Star Shower" Cast Range increased to 1200 (from 1000)

[1st Skill = Fire Spray]
-> Greatly improved the code, It now acts as a proper fire spray. It's no longer clunky.
-> It will now also slow enemies by 50% for 10 seconds.
-> Damage reduced by half overall. Now also has a 10 seconds small amount of damage over time.

[2nd Skill = Fire Bomb]
-> Now has 400 AoE Stun (3 seconds) after target unit dies.
-> Explosion Aoe reduced to 250 and Damage greatly reduced.
-> Can now target enemy heroes
-> Now has 0.35 seconds stun twice per second that lasts for 5 seconds.
-> Rewritten the code and fixes a bug that makes it unable to target certain units like most of the units in expert waves.

[3rd Skill = Fire Mastery >>> Flame Travel]
-> New Spell: Target a point to turn into a ball of fire to travel and damage enemies in it's path. Cost 1 mana per distance. Can travel anywhere on the map once the mana pool is big enough. (Think of Storm Spirit's "Ball Lightning" from DotA as it is very similar)

Faerie Dragon
-o-
A hero added a long time ago and forgotten finally gets an update.

[3rd Skill = Phase Shift >>> Mystical Orb]
-> Unleashes a mystical orb that will eventually teleport the hero at the target location. Damaging enemies in it's path.
-> Costs 10% of Max Mana to cast which is added as a bonus damage.

[4th Skill = Faerie Blast >>> Arcane Embodiment]
-> Grant Truesight (1200 Range), 5/8 Spellcraft + Wisdom per level, Damage Taken restores mana (2x if spells), and Passive Phase Shift if damage exceeds 10% of Max HP and blocking it.

[Omega Skill = Chaos Portal >>> Faerie Destruction Orb]
-> Can be auto-cast. Adds bonus damage to an attack against enemies, but costs 20% of max mana per Orb. Deals half the damage in an area.

This is a Major Version but mostly Quality of Life update with lots of technical changes behind the scenes. Compared to beta version I posted a week ago, I only added -gift command and some expert wave changes.

Alright, It seems there are no bugs reported this time after the release of 2.72c. I have made some changes to Lightning Mage. Also made changes to Wintercore Area and some Expert Waves becoming harder particularly wave 21 - 30.

it seems the game gets laggy on later waves. or was it because we farmed for too long? shouldn't be right?anyway, take a look whether its a bug or not. we almost won the game but it gets too laggy. sound breaker and naga didn't get omega skill after omega boss wave and we had to use debug wave to repeat the wave but to no avail. still...almost won abysmal mode on expert with bringiton. i think we lost just because of the lag

we managed to win as a team in abyssal expert mode.....with a lot of tries...wolf whisper seems still to have bugs where the hero isn't respawning after dying.
Nice! I'll take that as a win for Version 2.72b

wolf whisper immune to kicks
I'll fix the wolf whisperer..... again. I thought I fixed it but this hero proves to be really tricky. Also mostly relating to it being randomed and the fact that there are multiple types of wolf whisperers that switches.

Woah! file size of that replay is HUGE! The game time lasts for more than 2 hours and the title of the map becomes Wintercore ORPG :xxd:.

On a serious note. Unfortunate that the final boss won because of the terrible lag. I saw that in the replay. When a new units and SFX get spawned, terrible lag spikes happen.

This is the list of possible causes of the lag spikes.
1) It is written in GUI because it is not as optimized compared to JASS. (It might take a while for me to become good at JASS. I am also slowly learning a mainstream programming language which will also transfer into learning JASS)
2) There might be some hidden memory leaks in the map and I'll try to fix that.
3) This map compared to others uses very flashy Custom Spells which also slowly adds to the lag.
4) There might also be invisible dummy units (placeholder units used in spells) that are not removed.

I'll find the memory leaks and dummy units if there are any. For now I'll also do things that are considered band-aid solutions (Like reducing SFX, etc.). There's no guarantee that I could rewrite the map to JASS in the future (Massive time, effort and also motivation required to do that).

For now, try not to make the game last for too long especially if there are many players. Performance drops will accumulate over time.

The Omega Spell bug will be fixed in the next version or two.

well, with the game that hard, we feel dedicated to win however we could. But, yeah...a change in strategy is all we need.our current playstyle is because that's the current way we maybe could win with full 4 players after i think from other strategies (and we even found a way to get the secret hero). just farm for the diams from winter boss until he says he has nothing else to give...which made my friends LOL'ing immediately. still experimenting for other strategies and help with bug finding along the way.

When I was watching the replay on the solo sniper abyssal expert. A random idea came to me that I should add a funny message to the winterore boss. I laughed thinking what would other players reaction be and I could not be wrong.

I'll release the next version somewhere on May. I'm currently quite busy with other things. Expect some changes on items. I already fixed the wolf whisperer bug hopefully for good this time.

Anyway, I attempted to do your long method of winning the game. I won with Enlightened Wisp on Expert Abyssal solo. Chose the hero because it has a 1shot boss killer spell, escape spell, fast leveling and has the best attack speed in the game (0.3 Base attack time). The game took 2 hours with lots of grinding. Doesn't feel as satisfying compared to winning it normally without much grinding. Still a win though.

well, from your recent update, its seems quite easy for solo player since the difficulty also scaled based on player count and all of us can win solo too. the challange starts when you have multiple players and with 4 players increases the hp & damage by 1.50x .. i would really love to max the player count and see whether we could win or not. i tried creating the map on several private hosting but its hard to look for players that has the drive to win and after several looses, they'd just quit. oh and before i forgot, time berserker cannot get omega spell as well in abyss-expert-impossible. and there's another bug that we found out where when using some heroes that has translocation type spell, other players would loose their focus hero when the hero uses its spell and focuses on the hero that used said spell. for example like in the game replay below, whenever fire mage uses its spell and translocate. another hero is fearie dragon, and void king.

another win with 3 players on abyssal expert. death night dont have omega spell after omega boss as wel
You can max the player count that affects the difficulty by adding Computers to Player slots. I have made an attempt to fix the Omega Spells Expert bug in the next version. Let's see if that fixes things. Also, I made a mistake in using triggers that select a unit to all players which should have been only for the casting player only. That will also be fixed too.

Spent a couple of hours playing this and its a very pretty looking map, dressed very nicely; the heroes are unique, though not all of them cause there are a lot of them, but the Shaman was cool and the Sniper, the Builder, they made me want for this map to be a full blown RPG.

this time we played the map with full players and somehow the game can be considered unwinnable due to severe lag + delay with final boss at impossible mode. we didn't farm diamond for too long and we managed to kill gambler quite fast. we even tried getting 5k diamond early game and max earlier to avoid the theoretical lag due to farming at wintercore area but the game still lags on final boss every 2-3 seconds. maybe the boss attack buggy?
