Winter Mountains

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
Here's a littl melee map i made when I didnt have anything too do...

Have fun.

I took APproject's advice and made more rocks and stuff in on the ways to make them look less "empty".

Now I've made even more rocks and stuff to make it look bettter ;) Take a look.
Please say what you think is good and what is bad so i can make it better.

Now I've made another melee map! You can find it here

Winter Mountains (Map)

Reviews
18:02, 24th Feb 2009, by Rui I was not sure if I was going to rate 1 or 2, but either way, this map's not getting approved. The terrain was not well planned, to start with. The drops were not well set. No good mark for the creep choice either...

Well, terrain looks okay, but all those Cliffs looks unnatural. I actually liked the way how you put all those trees, you mixes them, that's something new, at least for me, lol. Afterall you could put more doodads, because the ways and lanes looks kinda empty.

Ok, I will make some more rocks and stuff to make those ways look less "empty".

But when I've changed it, how can I replace the old map with the new one?

Down the description there is a button with UPDATE word on it. Press on it and reupload it, also you can configure all the rest information about your map, just like uploading a new map, but it'll just replace the old map with file you select.

There you go ;) I uploaded the new version with more rocks and stuff beside the ways. Have a look. please comment what you think...

Points

Originality: 2/10 X
Basically a badly pulled out winter symetrical melee with nothing that can or will make the game fun.

Balance: 5/10
Symetrical, however some NPC-s buildings are closer to some of the players then to the other, that is even visible on the minimap.

Bug Free: 2/10 X
Problems:

- Creeps attack my base at start, they are not placed far enough
- Set them to camp range
- South NPC building, when producing a troop, the troop gets stucked

Terrain: 1/10 X
Very bad terrain, too much blizzard cliffs, definetly place for improval:

- It looks to unnatural, the cliffs are all squary
- Not enough shrubery, dodads
- You didn't use the height tool properly and not enough of it
- Mix the tiles more
- Don't use Blizzard cliffs, rather use the height tool

Drops: 4/10 X
The drops are done poorly aswell:
- Green camp drops - mostly useless (Invis. Cloak)

Gameplay/Fun Factor: 3/10 X
Mostly boring to play, caused by:
- Narrow roads, not enough fighting place
- Bad terrain, mentioned above

Lag: 10/10
No lag, fine loading time.

Proper submission and crediting: 5/10
More info, images.

For the hive grade: 1/5 I suggest this map for: Rejection
-------------------------------------------------
In overall a badly pulled out melee map. It has severe problems, most of them mentioned above. I suggest you start from scratch. Your main goal should be to make good terrain and to have a decent idea. This map isn't really a much of a fun play. Improve and try to make a new map. I don't suggest this map to any warcrafter, and I suggest it for rejection.
Good Luck, bounty hunter2

The second melee map I'm reviewing today, this one by Grave_Digger_.

Well, the terrain looks even, at least. It turned out to be pretty boring. Lots of trees, too many narrow areas, little space left to fight. Leads me to think it should have been smaller, and that's bad, because it's really annoying to have to rebuild a terrain, and that means you won't. Plus, bad ground texture variation.

Yet another author who has not set the drops correctly. So three level 2 Ice Trolls drop a level 1 permanent item, and three level 1 Gnoll Poachers drop the same? By the way, their positions should be switched.

The worst was that you had to be extra careful where you would build, since the creeps would begin attacking you if you built way too close to them, and that's BAD, because, they would attack you if you put your buildings a little to the periphery of your hall.

My rating for this map is 1/5 (Unacceptable), and I am rejecting
, for the reasons I stated on the second paragraph.
