I wonder why there aren't any new cinematic maps submitted anymore. Before there were tons of users who create cutscene maps.
I noticed that there aren't that much users who create cutscenes anymore. Then again, maybe they're preparing a huge cinematic for the cine contest 2007.

Daemon/Daemonkiller was the guy who created "Creatures of the Night." Definitely one of the earliest and best cutscenes ever made.
rulerofiron made Battle Cinematic
who's iron?
Player72985 = I haven't seen him for a while
KingKlear = disappeared after he made it second place in the latest cine contest.
Teal = Well, it's been years.....
creyzi4zb12 = is now making his Battle Royale 5 which will be up soon
TheGreatNoob = I've never really seen all his maps, but all of his known cutscenes were great.
PurgeandFire = I've never seen him too.

Many cinematic authors have indeed moved on to other games or in real life itself, Bob27 being another good example. Fortunately, Warcraft III always continues to attract the interest of newcomers of all skill levels.

~ Thread moved to Warcraft III Discussion .

I think it should go in Warcraft III Discussion Forum instead.

I've been playing Warcraft III for 2-3 years and I still haven't learned everything. My goal was to make a mod, to somehow keep Wc3 up. Not with World Editor, I mean, a REAL mod. Like Revival of the High Elves, for example.

And player IS still around as I just said a few posts above, he and that panda guy is working on their cinematic project hosted at wc3campaigns.

And I remember Daemonkiller now, thanks.

It seems as though warcraft 3 mapmakers are now slowly fading away. Well, not the players (there's always that DoTa game they call).
- But I really find warcraft 3's world editor as the best in the world. It's a shame most good manipulaters of making cutscenes in them are gone. I'm kinda new to cutscene making, I discovered the many things I could do with the camera and the GUI triggers on it. I don't do JASS BTW, and don't intend to learn.
Oh well, Warcraft 3 has been going on for 5 years now. I wouldn't be surprize if it deteriorates slowly now.

New people are comming along with old people leaving, that's how it has always been and yes at some point Wc3 will die out but untill Sc2 comes I think modding will live on perfectly fine, so that's atleast a year or more. Perhaps Wc3 will even stay alive after Sc2, it all depends on the quality of the game and it's modability.

Its because of WoW. I mean i have a 70 pally it was fun but all mmorpgs get boring. For some ppl takes them to get 4 level 70s lmao. But I say blizzard fucked up warcraft, and bad! Mmorpg was great idea but I say they should keep the main storyline out of it. I mean introducing illidan wtf!!! Now you can kill illidan every weekend with your buddies. We all know someday Arthas well be there and that is the only reason i've played WoW is for the storyline. I'm a big time lore follower. Also Medihv's tower is bs cause moroes is there but Medivh killed his ass right before the staircase. Then even inventing blood elves that aren't with Illidan? They are only alive because of him geez wtf. The Draenei look cool in full plate, but very bad on allience or even horde. Should just be creeps with the Burning Legion. Everyone knows even Blizzard That it was a risky move to bring Draenei into it and they blew it. Watched collectors edition dvd that comes with wow TBC. They even say it was "very risky" but they think they did a good job. Yeah goodjob guys you got couple million WoW players and thousands of wc3 players pissed off,GREAT JOB:infl_thumbs_up::thumbs_down:
But don't worry that new LOTR mmorpg will make the numbers of WoW drop big time. They released it perfect timing bout 3-4 months after TBC release so players r bit tired of expansion and not enough time for Blizzard to do something big. They will be working hard and fast on next expansion probly release it next year. If they don't it will be dumb on their part cause if people can create a mmorpg to stand up to WoW, there WILL be more.

From cinematic makers to starcraft2 to WoW. 'All roads lead to rome' goes the old saying. In these forums two modifications seem to apply, 'All discussions lead to WoW', 'All discussions lead to Dota'.

What do you guys think about dota btw? Lets hear some oppinions on that!

lol a mod going off topic too =P, well dota absolutely sucks. I hate it and main reason like alot of others is because if your hero falls behind in levels or items or kills your screwed no coming back up unless you have a leaver to give u some shit.

I hate DotA, because it doesn't let other maps break through.

I don't like it, because it's weak. Only few, really nice spells there, only few, really interesting heroes... And too much pressure on items- it's more about items than heroes and that's bad. Items should be an OPTION. And if they are important, the items system should make some sense and should be user-friendly. In DotA- it is not. Nothing tells you where the items you need for recipe are. And why the hell there is some fucking shop in the forest? It only annoys you, you have to run there to buy something, then you realise that the needed item is too expensive... That's stupid.

And DotA is ONLY about killing. There is nothing else there- you just buy items and kill- BORING. In DoE, ToB and AotZ you got pushing with help of the hired creeps. In EotAT you got loads of things to do except for ganking and killing...

Oh, and what was the problem with cinematic makers? ^^

haha, mini-me was joking about going offtopic, but:

That part of your post gave me a good laugh. DotA has many kill moments, but it is focused rather on farming with killing from time to time. And in ToB and AotZ killing is way easier, because you can leave your lane without consequences, you can hide in fog of war for years without consequences, and if you attack enemy hero, his creeps won't even help him.

If you were frozen slowly, you would die, but not if you were frozen in 5 minutes.

To decipher; one thing is letting this discussion eventually fall into DotA, WoW and the rest, another thing is to jump to it on purpose.

Nothing tells you where the items you need for recipe are. And why the hell there is some fucking shop in the forest? It only annoys you, you have to run there to buy something, then you realise that the needed item is too expensive... That's stupid.
It is true that some heroes are old and aren't worth a fart, but the above is relative in a way. If you play DotA alot, you will already know the prices of the items you seek. The same for the recipes.

My God.. Iron_Ian. I remember him most among the top cinematic makers. I remember he also stopped mapping for his final cinematic when he got bored of it. I assume many people have moved on from Warcraft, and it's really a shame. Warcraft's golden age has come and gone...

And where are the CAMPAIGN makers? Razorclaw_X is the last man standing, but I didn't really like his campaigns- some missions were awesome, but some of them- totally boring. And those cinematics- so damn LONG and BORING!!!

The best campaign maker was Med. Map Guy, but he abandoned mapping.

There is ONE interesting project- Random Reasons(password is password) from this page:

http://www.cryptikarma.com/

But it's still in progress... When 0.4 comes out I'll dl it.

God, all this talk of campaigns makes me want to make one myself...

*Sigh* If only I had the help from an awesome website where a lot of brilliant minds worked... if only.

I remember being apart of the Med. Map Guy hype a long time ago, and as far as I'm concerned his work is still the best on Wc3. It's funny, and he tells stories with that humor.

I've never seen MedMapGuy make cinematics before. Except for his Joe's quest campaign cines!! I loved that game!!
And he's a Filipino!!
Also does anybody have any link of his Deandara's TALE map?

By the way does anyone know if Phoenix_VIII stopped mapping? He made The Voyage Part 1 and Part 2 and some other maps... He was extremely good at terraining... If you just watch his map "cinematic tri-x" which is just a bunch of terrains being shown, you can see that he had really good skills...
