Basics


The Ideia
In truth, this project is old. It began in 2010, but due to problems with my PC it got canceled and never got out of the paper. However, now with my PC problem solved I'm taking it back to life. The old thread got closed for inactivity, I asked Rui and he said it was better to create a new thread, taking into account that the project is significantly different. So here I am, presenting you now When Angels Tasted Blood reborn! A RPG campaign in two chapters.

The Campaign

Basicaly it's an RPG campaign, where you control a single character, but will meet many companions along the journey. Settled in two distinct chapters (this means, two small campaigns), the first being something like a Demo and the second the oficial campaign, but both have its importance in the storyline.

Features
Combat System: Based in the combat system of Tyr's Apprentice by Approject (with his permision). It forced the player to constantly interact with the fight, and not just click and watch the bloodshed. You will need to constantly use "abilities" to attack and defend.
Interctivity: Many good RPG's have systems that allows the character to interct with the scenario around it. Following this path, WATB will feature a moderate (and perhaps vast in future updates) interactivity system, with which you will be able to talk to people, use objects and etc.
Customized UI: I'm planing to use a great UI found at WC Campaigns that will transmit all the creepy atmosphere of the game. But I'm not certain about it, so if anyone knows about any good creepy UI please post a link or something.
Customized Models: the campaign has a wide variety of custom models, ranging from units to scenario elements and attachments.
Customized Soundtrack: To intensify the thriller, all the playable maps features a heavy soundtrack. But to anyone that dislike it, the player is able to turn off the custom music, turning to standart warcraft soundtrack.
Voice Acted: Perhaps the hardest part. The campaign is planed to be 100% voiceacted. But until now I'm the only one who's taking care of the voices, so its proving to be very difficult. Anyone that speaks english fluently and is willing to voiceact, please post it here or PM me.
Thrilling Storyline: Based in Kentaro Miura's Berserk manga series, WATB has an intense and well structured story. Only note that the campaign have nothing to do with the Berserk series universe, it only follows the same intriguing and disturbing path that things take during the storyline.

Story (with no spoilers)
We are in the world of Agate, an ancient place where political and religious conflicts strikes the very balance of nature for long as anyone can recall. Little is known of the Primal Age, when everything began, all humankind know for certain is that the great War of the Three Extremes has scared the land for generations and no one can tell why it even have started. But this war will prove to be the smallest problem of the three great countries, Termaria, Goroth and Ungar. For an unknown tribesman from the south have travelled his way across all Agate's greatest cities, carrying an asking for urgent help... As the elder Inscriptions of Karax once said: "Humankind will face the purgatory in it's own home, and every sin will be purged by he bloody hands of Uryah's sons"... The tribesland at the extreme south are being savagely slaughtered by shadowy beings. But will the great leaders hear what the tribesman have to tell? Will they be willing to leave the damned war behind and face this dark new threat? Only one thing can be taken for certain among this... If none answer the call, Agate will face its end.
(Note that tihs is only the 'spoilerless' sumary, the full story is significantly bigger and will hardly be released out of the game)

Campaign
A Path to Ruin is the first chapter of WATB. This is the Demo campaing and its currently under development. It tells the path of the tribesman along the three great nations asking for their help... The roads to the North will prove to be really dangerous, far more than the expected. It features two cinematics (prologue and epilogue) and three playable maps.

Story
Xahrek, the wize Rex (somekind of leader) of a tribe in the South sends a trusted messenger to the three great nations, in search for help, after noting that the fel inscriptions of Karax might be true. This messenger is Herex, a skilled alchemist well known for his "persuasive" abilities, but Herex is an old man and canot travel all this road alone, so he calls for his young brother Tahrok to scout him out of the shadowy forests of the South and across the the lands of the war-torn North. If Herex will be heard only the time will tell... The only thing to be certain is that if he is not... The feared Karax's Madness, the prophecy of the world's end... Will be fulfilled.

Game
The player will controll Tahrok, the champion of a pagan tribe to the South. skilled in the many arts of war, Tahrok can fight with almos any weapon, from short swords to firearms. Following his older brother, Herex, in his quest across the great nations.

Campaign
The Touch of the Sun is the second chapter of WATB. This is the oficial campaign and tell the disturbing conclusion of Karax's Madness. Can't tell much about the number os playable maps or how the storyline will unfold, for now I'm currently working steadily on the Demo.

Story
In the giant fort city of Amarantir, in the kingdom of Termaria, one of the Three Great Nation, lives a man that dreams to carry the familly glory foward. He is Velmont Aurestair, the son of the glorified Lucas Aurestair and the brother of the heroic Andrasse Aurestair. His father once saved the entire city by ambushing and destroying the attacking gorothen siege engines and dying heroically in the middle of the battle, and his sister saved the own Viscount of Amarantir, Sir Alamair, from the gunfire of a gorothen refleman. Velmont's mother never agreed with his willing to join the army and became as famous as his father and sister, she never wanted to lose another beloved person to the war, but Velmont's dream is greater than anything and he will never rest until he can accomplish somthin even greater that the heroic acts of his father and sister... However, Velmont's path will lead him to something much bigger than any Aurestair ever dreamed to be part of... For he will soon meet a traveler from the south that carries terrible news.

Game
The player will control Velmont Aurestair, a warrior from the city of Amarantir in Termaria. Velmont will meet Herex, a tribesman from the South, and this man will convince him to change the path of his entire life so a huge catastrophe can be avoided. In addition to Herex, Velmont will come across meny people who will help you on your journey... A sarcastic ex-gunner from Goroth, a proud ungarian archer, a peculiar man from the east...

Beginning working in the classes and abilities for each one rather than the chaters first.
I want the game to be completely playable before working on the playable maps.

The abilities are quite common, but that is due to the fact that in the world of WATB there are no magic, meaning that the player can count in only with the fighting capabilities of his character.
And also, due to some specific abilities, I'm thinking about removing the combat system, allowing the player to attack normally.
The playable classes are meant to be self sustaining. All of them are complete capable of fighting alone against entire hordes with no problem.
Talking about the classes... Here are they:

Sword and Shield
Defensive class, specializes in protecting itself and debilitating the enemy, needs some time to beat the opponent but also takes minimal harm during the fight.
Abilities
Abilities
->Defend - Protects itself against incoming projectiles, but reduced the movement speed and almost cut off the attack speed.
->Shield Bash - Strikes the target using the shield, causes stun and minimal damage. If the character have Shield Mastery, this ability will cause knockback.
->Shield Mastery - Passive ability that drastically increases the character's armor. Also makes Shield Bash to cause knockback.
->Bashing Combo - A high damaging sword combo that begins with a shield strike to stun the target and ends with a powerful charge that cause knockback.
Dual Swords
Aggressive class, specialized in fast combat and causing damage, can easily take down an opponent, needs to do it fast for lack of protection.

->Sword Dance - Highly increase the attack speed but leave the character a bit defenseless. It causes more damage but also takes more damage.
->Cripple Strike - A high precision attack that debilitates the target, slowing it down in movement and attack speed. Also leaving it vulnerable for Critical Strike.
->Critical Strike - Passive ability that gives a chance to cause additional damage in the opponent. If the target is debilitated by Cripple Strike, that attack will cause even more damage.
->Shifting Attack - The hero will become invulnerable due to its speed while attacking all the opponents around him doing critical damage.
Two Hand Sword
Aggressive class, specializes in fighting against many opponents at the same time. Depends too much in brutal force, so its really powerful abilities will consume a great amount of stamina, forcing the hero to hold a while between the usage of his abilities.

->Charge - The hero will attack the target after running against it, the strike will stun for a short period the target, cause a moderate damage to it and a small damage to enemies around it.
->Bleeding Strike - The character will hit its target so bad that ill make it bleed to death.
->Cleaving Attack - Passive ability that allows the character to strike many opponents at the same time while using normal attacks. Also makes Charge to cause more damage to surrounding enemies and Blood Fury to cause AOE damage.
->Blod Fury - The hero will strike his opponent with a monstrous strength, causing an absurd damage, if the target dies it will explode in blood, the surrounding enemies will be consumed by fear and will miss great part of their attacks for some time.
Two Hand Maul
Defensive class, specialized in debilitating its opponents easily to take them down with normal but lethal attacks. Depends on its abilities to neutralize the enemy rather than to cause damage, depends too much in its attack strength to actually take down his targets.

->Knockback - Self explanatory, an attack that will throw the target away from the hero, cause minimal damage.
->Roar - Cause slowdown on the surrounding enemies and increases the hero attack for some time.
->Bash - Passive ability that allows the hero to easily stun his opponent with normal attacks. Cause stun also when using Knockback.
->Maul Frenzy - The hero will frenetically strike the target, causing some damage and completely destroying its armor.
Bow
Ranged class, specialized in debilitating the enemy and causing great amount of damage. Needs to stay away from too many direct hits for lack of protection.

->Crippling Shot - Neutralize the target's movement, stacking it on the ground. But he will still be able to attack, so keep a safe distance.
->Multi Fire - A sequence of random shots that causes great damage and a short time stun.
->Fast Eye - Passive ability that drastically increase attack speed and almost negates the aiming time for Deadly Shot.
->Deadly Shot - A high precision shot that causes an absurd damage, if the target is not killed, it won't move anymore. This ability requires a really long aiming time, that can be canceled with Fast Eye.
Well, these are the classes and abilities that will be avaliable in the first campaign, A Path to Ruin.
