On recent weeks, there are some storms of n00b maps. Although this week don't see that many, I still think about one thing.

WE NEED A NEW MAP MOD!

My reasons are:
1. ap0calypse is an active member, but, he alone can't handle an assload of maps in the Maps Section (Which is the reason why Linaze left).
2. Rui is global mod, which makes him unable to concentrate on one section only.
3. There are many users who are qualified for this position (e.g. krisserz and Barathrum).

So, what do you think about this?
I'll also post a poll to see what do the members think.

To the people complaining about the amount of pending maps, it's been like that since I registered here, which has been a long while ago.

There have been attempts to clear it up, as well as a reduction to about 300, the most we could achieve. You can't say the staff hasn't tried, but more like there is a lack of suitable candidates and methods of achieving a long-term success.

Complaining about it without adding anything constructive is just entirely senseless, because we all know what the situation is. If you want to post, then add some content to it, thank you.

Coincidence that they are both online, right now. :p Yes, yes we do need much more map mods. There are a crap load of maps that have not been yet seen by a mod, and that are really good.

Well finding good staff members can be a pain from time to time, seeing I ran a maps section for Wc3 a while back for around 2 years which was owned by incgamers, finding someone that really wants to make an effort and does so qualitatively is hard.

I would love to do cinematics cause I always review them anyways, but that's just a too small portion of the total amount of maps that are being uploaded in the end.

Work up a system that automatically approves all maps above a certain download limit or average rating.

I understand we're going for the quality approach and don't want to become an epicwar, but this flood can't be fought for too long, and the pending maps will equal the total amount of maps on epicwar.

If you do so though, there still has to be a moderator, which keeps the ridiculously low-quality shit and the trolls off.

You can write your comments and send me a private message linking to them and I will approve the cinematic maps with your reviews.

I been telling them to implement Q & A section upon reading the submission rules, but most of then it was rejected.

It was quite efficient way to ward off those people who does not read the submission.
That's actually a great idea  it would frustrate those people so much.

Making it harder in a methodical way towards the goal we're trying to achieve, yeah. I mean, it most likely won't happen, of course, but people would be forced to either read the rules or select random answers, which, depending on the number of questions, would take more or less time than actually reading the rules.
EDIT: Well, the idea is hilarious. That's what I'm trying to say :xxd:

Ridiculous. BUT. It can work in one way or another.

How about that the Q and A are then sent to the moderator, who quickly inspects them, and sees if this person means serious. Sure it can cause serious prejudice and it smells like bureaucracy, but I'm quite sure that of 10 maps you could easily fend of at least 8 of them, and one of those 8 was good but the author didn't want to bother with the Q & A.

When you look at it, it doesn't sound as bad, doesn't it?

Well that would double the work for the mods wouldn't it :/

I think we need a new system which approves/rejects the maps after a certain amount on good votes is done.
It needs to give the people certain powers because otherwise the mods work wouldn't change.

I'd much prefer to enforce the rules from that stand, to be honest. Whether it increases the overall work is questionable. If it permanently prevents those users from submitting maps, we have much less work doing the quick check.
The greatest problem is, in my opinion, the reviewing of maps, however, and not necessarily their approval. The majority of the users are displeased about not having their map reviewed, rather than approved. I'm actually surprised we still have problems with the map section when, at this moment, the priority is only to quickly check the maps and ensure they follow all the rules so as to gain admittance.

I don't understand how one of my cinematics has just gotten approved:

It was me who set your cinematic to Reviewed status. Hemlock's review was good enough for me to set it to that status, but I thought I'd include the others as well. I did this on two other cinematic maps and I believe you'll be able to tell which advices are the best and most detailed (not only because of the review itself but also the review author's prestige/experience on the matter).

It seems that the discussion has deviated from "We Need A New Map Mod!" to "New Moderating System Discussion". Well, since it doesn't deviate so far from the topic, it's okay anyway.
