WC3 World Championship - Summer 2018

While we generally don't post about WC3 esport events and streamed tournaments all too often, this is definitely an exception that warrants an announcement. This year's GCS Summer Grand Finals is something to tune into!

It's the first premier tournament to be played on the 1.29 patch. Hero balance changes, widescreen, and all that jazz that affects the base game and melee meta are to be put to action on WC3's biggest competitive stage.

the ingame language is english
most of the koreans speak english and we'll interview them
one of the biggest favorites is from Europe/CIS
it's a world championship and the first of it's kind on 1.29.

It is streamed in English on twitch.tv/back2warcraft. It is one of the biggest melee tournaments of the year, it is definitely worth giving a shot! You won't be disappointed.

In China here Netease offers a quite sizable amount of money to the map makers in China, I don't know if it's also happening in occident, can't say it's resurrectional for war3 in china, but it does work, tho Neteast is always being roasted here.

It's complicated.NetEase somehow commercialized war3 custom maps in spite of the non-profit-law of WorldEditor.It has managed to attract a lot of newbies who have no idea of intellectual property right,though most of old-school fans don't like it.

As you know,the models,skins,icons and spells in Hiveworkshop are free.Some of our editors stole them,made some minor adjustment, and claimed the origin authors themselves.To make matters worse,they are selling them on the NetEase war3 market.Yes,yes,they sucks...

Unlike Steam Workshop,War3 and SC2 never had rules for commercial system,which made the community of custom editors into an Utopia.Netease ,in my opinion,are destroying warcraft3 instead of ressurecting.

What is your preferred language for developing Warcraft III maps?

here's another discussion, I desperately want @MindWorX to bring these:
- Map encryption or digital signature to prevent Netease from stealing your maps
- Fix bugs to stop external DLL (to stop micro transactions or in-app-purchasing)
