Warhammer 40k RTS

This bundle is marked as useful / simple. Simplicity is bliss, low effort and/or may contain minor bugs.
In this warhammer map you will be able to choose among 5 races.
-The ingame instructions come up ingame.
-Capture Flags to get more income. V.6.4
-By Spoofone & TYRANID. Enjoy :)
Hehe got it optimized now :) And it is now protected.
Tyranid Warriors and Hive Tyrants now have Sinapsis.
All that we know of reserches work.
Got all the icons that are out there at the moment. Still looking for more.

This map was almost no good at all. The Icons sucked! And the sizes. The tanks are double so big as the tank factory. And why the hell would a tank factory produce soldiers?? You also haven't give any credits.
I didn't test it long. But this is my oppinion. 1/5.
Also the Take over ability name sucks. Change it to Take Over. Or soemthing better.

Yea, this really does need some work, for starters read up on some of the units, I barely checked out the Tyranids before I noticed some huge inaccuracys(sp?) Termagants are ranged units and raveners should really be able to burrow.
And also, What no Eldar?

If you need any help with some of this stuff I'd be happy to help, I have Tyranids and Eldar myself and I have friends who collect SM and Necrons so I can help you with making the units more true to the game

Warhunter is right, this map is shitty.

Ok dude i liked warhunters comment he atleast said some things that will help the map whitch i agree on for the most part. but your comment sux this map is shitty oh no help to makers at all so stfu unless you have some constructive critasims.........

i have imported so much stuff that i cant get any eldar models in it,theres also currently only 1 eldar model on hive. the termagaunts are ranged,and i tried to make the burrow but it was messed up so ill do it on next v and ill add credits next v also. What were the spelling problems?

The people that i played the map with thought it was pretty good and i have imported so much that i cant get icons and still be able to host it cus the map is so big and im adding credits in next v and im also going to fix the tanks.

basing it off of dawn of war was tyranids idea and im not completely done with it im still adding the tech trees and once again i would add custom icons but the map has so much imported stuff, if i import more onto it, it wont let you host the map.

You still have to use the "Edit" button, moderators are hard to this.
And take no offence of hard critism, it's just usuall. It happends to almost everybody.

And about the icons. You still need the DISBTN. Or it will lock ugly, really ugly, and get some real icons for the units. Icons doesn't take much space.

I have just updated the map so the sizes of the tanks are now proportionate or however you spell that, and im still working on the icons. ;)

Don't be so harsh people, while this ain't the best map here, it certaintly isn't the worst map. It's just, Dawn of War is an already good game and the engine is newer and looks better than the warcraft 3 one. Second, what did make Dawn of War so cool? Well, of course the stragetic points were innovative, but the nice explosions and the huge amount of races and units (8 races!) also did the job. You can't make a multiplayer game based off Dawn of War using imported stuff for the 8 races, 4 mb isn't much. So here's my tip: either focus on 1 or 2 race(s) and make that(/those) or add AI. People on Battle.net won't wait to download 4mb map, it just takes far to long.

But if you use this, make sure you have copied your map. When you have reduzed the size, the map is also sort of protected. You can open the map, but much data is gone. It's still playable on battle.net thougth.

I can test the map tomorrow again and try to give you some moore critism.

you were the nicest person yet to reply to tyranid and my map so i thank you for that and i am going to try to reduce the size.

DO NOT, I say, even compare this to Dawn of War! Dawn of War is an existing game which would be boring to play in a Warcraft mod. No offense, but that idea would really suck ass.

If you were to make a Warhammer 40k RTS mod, what gameplay would be different and get the most out of the whole universe? It's a pretty damned big universe, granted, but if you were to choose a certain style of play and use the bits of the universe that are better suited to it (for example, 5 races is more than enough :p), you could get yourself a good map. Or a disaster. When you come up with an idea for gameplay, run it by us, the community! That way, we'll give you instant or slightly-less-than-instant feedback.

As for Spectre's comment, he might be on to something! If you were to base it off only 2 races, you could take it straight from the codex and make the races as detailed as possible! Also, you could try a Total War style of play or something that would allow you to use squads (NOT Dawn of War! lol). And true, this isn't the worst map, I've seen that map already (I believe a Wofflez uploaded that one?). It was Killer Country. It sucked. It was even worst than Don't Move The Tauren. Or about the same.

You obviously forgot that we've had first-person shooters made in Warcraft. They weren't perfect, but they did the impossible. Turning Warcraft III into a SHOOTER?! Come on!

What I'm trying to say is that even if this map is based off of something better, say Dawn of War, it doesn't matter. What matters is the map itself, and if the makers have the ability to recreate such an advanced game in such an old one.

I'm saying it would, as is said in the quote you chose, that it would suck ass. You are basically copying an existing game with less quality, which is crap simply because it lacks originality and let's face it, who wouldn't rather just play the original game if it's got more content and less bugs?

I personally don't care that it 'can' be done, as I know full well it can be. Someone already did it, actually. It's in Russian, I think, so I can't read tooltips, but the idea was that it was a map with no originality whatsoever. Therefore, the idea of copying Dawn of War sucks ass because it's not original. The original copy of Dawn of War isn't great, either, as I'd rather play the original game. To me, the purpose of making a map is to make a game that doesn't exist. Copying existent games to the letter (and finding there are things you can't include and/or bugs) is crappy and doesn't require much in terms of imagination.

And spoofone, change the name of the map. I mean the filename, it's easier to know what map it is then.

I tried the map again. And I have one notice about the necron. Monolith are a upgrade to the the headquarter. Not a unit, So monolith shud be an upgrade to the base.
And, to make this much moore funnier, add moore buildings. 3 buildings are just too little.

I do agree that each race has to few buildings and most the tec trees are crap but what can be done each race only has 10-15 units in it so its pritty hard to get alot of buildings out of it and also there isnt any space to import new building modles.
Another note as you are allsaying reduce file size some of the tools wont work for spoof becuse we both have vistas and the tool you showed us wont work for vista

Also i think most of you are forgeting that this is a "public beta" so no where near completion

About boombox's comment, what the hell? That's the most useless comment ever! I just hate it when you go to a map and see comments like 'Good 5/5' or 'I give this 4.5/5' with no other comments. They are useless comments, and no one cares for them, so don't post such comments!!

Now, back to the map. First of all, I had no idea this was a Public Beta. Perhaps try telling us so we know (like in your description)? And second of all, even if this is a Public Beta, I have no idea what you plan to do with this map or where you plan to take it, but ATM I can't see it going anywhere good.

Think about what you want to do. You say that the Dawn of War theme can be done. I don't give a shit. It would suck for a map as I would much rather play the original game due to the fact that it would be less buggy, have more content and would use proper models. I say choose two races and find out as much as you can from the codex. If you can build a map that includes every unit of just two races from the Warhammer 40k game, you might just have something worth looking at.

As for what Warhunter said about the Necrons, I found that to be funny. A monolith building a monolith! If you're going to use the Monolith as a building, then don't have it as a unit that can be bought, too, that's just too weird lol.

i tried but when you host it, it will auto boot ppl after they get to 100% and when they rejoin it auto boots them right away so untill i know how to solve that i cant change the name, sry.

add moore buildings. 3 buildings are just too little.

i would add more buildings but there are no new units on hive for necrons yet so i cant have a unit to a building so untill i can get another unit i cant really get more buildings.

I dont see why everyone is treating this map so harshly.
If you look past the myriad flaws (This should be a beta version), its not actually that bad!
The terrain is good, there are plenty of units etc.
Suggestions
Use proper icons with DISBTNs\
FIX THE TOOLTIPS!!!
Optimise it
Fix button positions

Wereguy, wth? The two things you pointed out that are 'good' about the map don't really apply at all. First of all, you say it has good terrain. This isn't a terrain showcase, so this counts for little. Second of all, you say there are plenty of units. Dawn of War didn't even really scratch the surface of the Warhammer 40k universe (because it's so freakin' huge), yet they manage to get even less than that!

So, let's way it out. The icons are bad, the tooltips aren't taken seriously, there's no new gameplay concepts and no proper use of the old one (and DO NOT post back saying 'but you capture points', as that would be the dumbest thing of all. Capturing points doesn't present enough of the concept as a whole to be worth mentioning), no real variety and finally, the whole of the map idea is tacky and unoriginal. What's the good points? It has decent terrain. Wow. What a mod. Who cares about the whole idea when you got half-decent terrain, huh.

You want to say 'look past the myriad flaws', but if you do, what's left? A good terrain. Nothing else.

Crucify?!? All I have done is point out the obvious flaws, which is the entire map right now! That's all everyone has done. It's not called criticism because we say nice things even though it won't help them. Pointing out the flaws like the entire gameplay at the moment would be a lot more helpful than 'Oh, good terrain'.

As for the map itself, I have already suggested what could be done to make it better, so don't get all high and mighty. I've already given it a chance and haven't heard anything back from my suggestion. As for your suggestions, they aren't exactly helpful towards making this map actually worth playing. The icon placement is not the only issue, it's the whole messy structure and the fact that this mod obviously wasn't taken seriously. When I see 'muck-around' tooltips, I can't get into a game at all. It looks scrappy and unprofessional.

And how about the stats of the units? I'm not sure how they came about these numbers for health and attack, but I really don't think that there is an actual system for it. You say look past its flaws. This ain't pre-school where everyone's a winner. Expect criticism when you post a map to a community full of professional modders. If you can't take it, come back when you don't cry over spilt milk.

- There should be a board, at the beginning, where you can easy select a race
- It would be good if you can upgarde the flags(f.ex build an outpost on it or upgrade to an outpost)
- Only standard flags; no other variant
- No strategic points where your units get defense bonus
- Terrain is flat
- Many many things are missing llike good sounds,........

All in all good beginning for a maybe great map but it has up to now many problems

I have vista and it kind of works for me. If you need help whit optimizing it, I can do it for you.

Well this is actually helpfull for once you have manny things that if we could get them to work would improve the map
It actually seems like you tested/played the map for more than three seconds and now my replyz about your ideas

- Thousands of grammar errors (Ugg well yes i know about manny of them and we havent got the insperation to go through the intire mod to get them all alot of work ><)
- There should be a board, at the beginning, where you can easy select a race (I was thinking of that but was going through manny tutorials on how to and messing up each time this might get put in the game at some point)
- It would be good if you can upgarde the flags(f.ex build an outpost on it or upgrade to an outpost) (The problem with that is we have triggers for each flag giving money to the player who owns it but if you upgrade the flag doesnt that change whitch unit it is so the triggers dont work)
- Only standard flags; no other variant (Hmm perhaps perhaps this might be changed i might do something like that on it)
- No strategic points where your units get defense bonus (there was coversaves certan things gave but i think spoof broke em......)

- Terrain is flat (well we wanted it like that......)

Ok now I have tried this a couple of weeks ago I'm not sure if you changed it from then. What I have troubles with is these:

-Icons: Download and use Button Manager in the Tools section of the site to create fast and easy icons. (His icons is about 5-6 KB large.) I don't really need to comment on why there a problem if there green.

- The name: You need to change the title from Warhammer 40,000 RTS to something else. Cause it sounds really plain and not exiting. Ok I just came up with a title, Warhammer 40,000: Assault on Primos VI toke me 2 seconds to make a name like that and it's probably a crummy one to lol.

-The units: Ok sure imports are nice, but it's gameplay people want, not graphics or whatever. Look at Ralle's Warhammer 40k TD for example he didn't used a single import on his map (other than the minimap preview), and it turned out great. Plus add almost all of them for each race, if you own the Codex that is. I got Space Marines, Orks, Tyranids, Tau Empire, Chaos Space Marines and Eldars if you ever need help.

-The Beginning, ok race choosing is nice but you start with no buildings what's so ever, atleast start with a HQ.

-The grammar errors, I don't need to explain any more about this.

-The Terrain, flat, grassy, not torn by explosive marking or ruin buildings. Plus there's a lot of unused space (ocean hint hint)

The good thing about this is that both of you are accually trying to do a Warhammer 40,000 map that isn't a TD.

, do you've any idea how much space sounds add to a map? Including the fact that optimizers make maps with imported sounds bigger.

As for the imported models, this map needs them. Warcraft 3 units don't suite the Warhammer 40.000 K theme at all, they are not futuristic at all.

And like Tau Empire said, add a changelog.

You should have a building at the start that upgrades into a race instead of -choose

I added the start with a base, i just updated the map, it just doesnt upgrade ill think about adding that. And if you want you can add a screen at the begining to make it easier to pick a race and if you dont know what im talking about ask tyranid.
