Warcraft III - Fall of Draenor

Why don't we also translate the mod into several other possible language(I don't think blizzard allows you to translate a map written in english to another language). It would give an issue with voicing, but I would read another language with enough feeling if I knew what it meant. Anyway, think about it for a patch if we get this done. Let's not overcomplicate this now.

ikillforyou, we are making a mod. We cannot use models made for public usage. We must make models ourselves. Plus I really dislike those models because they were made using Tempest keep architecture, while we will make buildings which will use actual draenei architecture.

lightning brigade, of course we will translate the mod. Voices actually dont need to be translated.

thecheeseman, I fought about their unic feature, however teleportation isnt one of their skills. I think that they would rather have Alchemy skill that would for example give them poison attacks.

I'd like to point out that while tk is naaru architect, drainie use similar architect as naaru since they are using the naaru's technology. Just you know, putting that out there.

@Alagremm: It's unique, not unic, sorry for being kinda know-it-allish :)

Also, if you want loadingscreen pics done me and I guess dab will get right on it, and as I said be4, I'd like to do the loadscreens(or help I guess since dab seems to know more about photo editing than me, I'm just the guy with the all-purpose GIMP, he's actually the one using photoshop.)

Alagremm, I think that you will get more 3D and 2D artists if you will show more scripted work and general progress. Like, show some screenshots of a custom melee map with at least one of the new races in the middle of a game. Show some abilities, coding, what's unique and different in the mod, and generally show us that this is not going to be another suck-ish altered melee map with lots of custom models and even a campaign.
 
guys, I just made a ogre magi and a tatoo-less ogre texture
well, they are just simple, but the big part is, our 2d artists can base all of the ogre skins to that tatoo-less texture. rawr :p

I will respect you. If you could make it stand from the original game. Make something unique. Change the way you gather resources. Re-invent the Hero System. Make some unique triggered abilities. Then you will be respected. I assure you, placeholder models do not hurt. You will get many more fans and people who would like to help you with your project if you will do so.

Brilliant idea! Though Im bad in triggers.
However you gave me inspiration about unique features.
Since none of our races will use blight or spirits as workers, we will have to figure out totally new ways of HP regeneration, building territory, resource gathering and other unic features.

Probably there could be ores on some rocky places near mountains and stuff.. So from those piles you could gather gold or something like that.. Or the resource: ''Gold'' could be changed into crystals which i see pretty regular in the some parts of Draenor like Terokkar Forest and Apexis Fields

What is most hard is creating something completely new.
For example resource gathering. As everything else you see no other variants, except the ones that are already used, but if you think very hard you will see that there are countless other variants, that just need to be understood.

I recommend the Race-building Contests at WC3C for inspiration. Almost each race had it own resource-gathering system.

Okay, I just read the posts above mine and I think I have two solutions, for one problem: Soundboards, which will allow us to imitate the voices of the blizzard voice actors(I heard it from a friend so I dunno where to find one you speak into). Anyway, there are ways to create environment regeneration through triggers(it's a check if the unit is standing on a terrain type(condition). If you want I can create a race shell, it'll be up to someone else to create the dummy units and triggers that'll make our units interesting. Once I have the units I will export the and pm the pastebin link to alagremm.

I don't mind being on loading screens, even though I am a bit busy these days, due to CoD6(extremely off-topic, but thought i might as well explain my absence)

I was thinking of resource gathering stuff. Here are some of my ideas:
Arakkoa - Initiate(Worker) has an ability to cut lumber. He chooses one tree and uses the ability on it. The spell puts a spirit bird(similar in invinsiblity to the owl thingy huntress' summon)on a tree to collect lumber. Initiate is free to go but he cannot use the ability until the tree is destroyed. The tree doesnt get destroyed by the bird spirit. If the tree with the spirit is destroyed Initiate can use the ability again. If Initiate is killed the spirit disappears.
Ogre - they will have some sort of unit with an axe that will be able to cut lumber. I was inspired by supertoinkz's idea. If you build a Blacksmith there is an ability in it similar to Sacrifise - it transforms the Slave into the axe guy.
Draenei - Im still not sure. I thought what to use for their mining. I ended up with some sort of hanuted gold mine. You put workers inside. Some sort of summoned units appear and carry gold to the town hall. The more workers are in the mine the more summoned units bring gold in the town hall. However it seems to be just a modified version of Haunted Gold Mine.

Also, I invented a few new abilities and understood the importance of a mage unit for draenei.

Do u want a sample of a race to go by alagremm? I'm doing it for a campaign and it's not that unique with the gathering(it could be but I feel like it's good enough since it's got a very particular gathering theme that a modded version of the original harvest ability suits well.) Anyways, for the drainie, they should haunt the gold mine, but there should only be one slot. The drainie can stand on that spot and turn on an autocast ability or use an ability with say a 3 second cooldown that produces 30 gold. But, since drainie predominantly build wooden structures(is that right?) they can have a ghoul harvest ability that allows them to harvest only lumber and their society uses more lumber than gold. Sounds Good?

Well, I'm happy to say i'm back after about an, oh, say, 2 1/2 month hiatus.

Please forgive me, but I've been extremely busy, and I'll even explain my abscence;

Internet was epic pwnzored
Basketball is eating up my life
School is heating up with early trig
Social life getting much better
Computer getting older

I hope to be of use once again; however, it seems I am in need of a job to do...
