I was informed today that the gaming major at the college I am attending uses Warcraft 3 for its game level design class, and its game story design class.
It is a community college, they have a 2yr transfer program, so the second 2 years of the bachelor program at the state school costs the same as the community,
I am in the Computer Science major though, so no map making for grades for me
They move on to using the unreal engine because of this, in the second year I think.
U also got to remember this is a community college, and only 2year degrees are given out,
A friend I have that is in a 4 year game making major at a private college is using C++ and Maya. That would be a much better experience, but hey, we all gotta get our feet wet somehow!
Worth it's only that you know when you finish school (or not finish at all). And many times you learn more useful stuff in college than in university. What serves you the knowledge of complex integrals, if you will end programming in PHP?
