War3 Model Editor

This Model Editor is not made by me, but is made by Magos.

War3 Model Editor is as the name suggests a Model Viewer and a Model Editor dedicated to Warcraft 3. It supports both loading and saving of .mdl and .mdx model formats which are used in Warcraft 3. It also supports .bmp, .tga, .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .pcx and .blp texture formats.

There is a built-in MPQ Browser that allows you to browse any MPQ archive, which also includes Warcraft 3 map files (.w3m and .w3x). The MPQ Browser has been optimized for speed and is very fast to load and use. The Browser is customizable so you can add/remove your own icons and filters.

In recent years, both with modern OSes & with Reforged, W3ME might require a few adjustments to work properly.

One common issue over the years was missing DLLs; as described in this post by Hero_Lief and this message by Pyf, the DirectX Installer can be downloaded here. (Alternatively, as Hermit describes here, you can Google & download the specific file 'd3dx_9.dll' needed by W3ME.)

(Doesn't apply to beta v1.08)
A new issue with 1.30+ is its use of the CASC data system, replacing the old MPQ system. As described by Hermit in this post, you will need to have/find a copy of the old MPQs & put them where War3 Model Editor can find them in order for it to work properly. It appears 1.28 files work the best in v1.07

The v1.07 zip has been repacked to include the dll needed to make it run without having to install the DirectX runtime, thank you to @Dr Super Good for noting that that's the proper way to do things now with deprecation of Direct3D9 taking place.

You can now also download a new version, v1.08 beta, which was updated by me (@BogdanW3) and has some nice new, albeit still to be thoroughly tested, features:

* Edit texture paths directly from the textures window (no need for MDL for this)
* Support for v1000 (1.32) and v1100 (1.33, only loading for now) SD MDX models
* DDS texture support
* Hierarchical loading of textures (a texture referenced as tga in a model will no longer fail to load if the file is for example blp)
* Loading assets from CASC (no CASC browser at this time due to library limitations)
* 24 team colours
* Replaceable IDs 36 and 37, as well as a few more event objects are added from entries in the game data (thank you @Hermit)
* And more!

This version currently works best with 1.29 MPQs or 1.31+ CASC.
Requires the 64-bit Visual C++ 2015 runtime.

To set up the War3 Model Editor to load data (be it MPQs, or CASC in v1.08) from a specific folder, you will want to set up the string Registry value InstallPath in the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III\ to point to the Warcraft 3 data folder you wish to use.

Sweetness. I downloaded this a couple of times and only got to the point where I could view other's models. I'm a complete newb at making models and was planning on making one, but I don't quite know if this will help me in "extracting" parts or just making a model from scratch.

Hopefully when I get enough free time I can give this a college worth tackle at it.

Detected: Keylogger

How come im geting a detection of a Keylogger when this program is open ???
Had 134reports of a Keylogger in 34seck, so i dont tink its totaly safe having this program.

Thats Too Easy :p

if u want to use this model or play it in the game make sure install latest direct X
after that u may need to make models right
then if u want to not recieve errors
some errors may come if u import some models/importing other models like custom Geoset so u need install latest direct X this is too very easy dont install BLPConverter this ModelEditor has complete tools But its too hard to make Spongebob or u need to go file menu then click model editor after that select all units to make it to square or something (i dont know whats X,Y And Z what is it Z means Down and Y Means Up and X Means ???)
when i install model editor it does not error something
it only errors when importing models... did u try it
some models may error during u import it
Converting BLP dont need to install other BLPConverter
Just Rename it Example: Sword2.BLP and rename Sword2.TGA into .BLP Such Complete. UBer Tool!!!!:smile:

I'm a little worried about downloading this due to the complaints of it having a keylogger/trojan in it. Can anyone offer some insight on that?

Anyone know why I cannot save my edited model?

All I did was remove some geosets and tried to save it and it comes up with an error message reading "Unable to save "C:\Program Files\Warcraft 3\Warcraft 3 models\Jedi\MasonsJedi", unknown extention""!

How can I correct this so I can save my model?

Does this program need the original War3 TFT?Because a friend of mine is having ploblem with this Model Editor and he has a not original(Fake CD-Key) War3 TFT,but with me is different,I can do models and etc. and I have original War3 TFT.Now,does it needs a Original WAR3 TFT to use it?If yes I will say to my friend that he must buy a war3 tft ^^.But if not I think his war3 has some ploblem. o_O.Plz answer fast(My friend is getting crazy =D )

even I dont know how to create good models this tool helped me like when i didnt like the sword/shild or something else was to small i just resize it..Its a useful tool.I would say 5/5

Nice tool but when I use the Loading-Screen extra and make it 512x512 and the editor saves it, theres coming an error:
