War of the Three Hammers

War of the Three Hammers is a project that has been in the making for more than two years. Over this time people have joined and left, new leadership has been established, and goals have been changed; the project is still standing.

The original plan: to make an entire three story campaign featuring the three races of the War of the Three Hammers, as told in Warcraft lore. The three clans:

The Bronzebeard: "Held close ties to the High King and stood as the traditional defenders of Ironforge Mountain."

The Wildhammer: "Inhabited the foothills and crags around the base of the mountain and sought to gain more control within the city."

The Dark Iron: "Hid within the deepest shadows under the mountain and plotted against both their Bronzebeard and the Wildhammer cousins."

Information quoted from http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/story/chapter2.html#18.
Unfortunately, the original task has proven too difficult, even with such a large team, due to inactivity on many members' part. We aren't placing blame at all, it's just a fact that we have accepted.

Due to this, we have decided that we will finish the original demo map, "The Settling of Loch Modan", which has been diligently worked on by our very own Fanatic-Templar, including quests, models, terrain, and all that good stuff. The campaigns however are not on the to do list.

At the moment, the team has been regrouping in an attempt to finish the unit models for the three races. For the most part, the Bronzebeard and the Dark Iron clans are nearly complete, only the Wildhammer need some serious work.

This mean that the finished project will consist of model packs for the three races, a hero model pack, and a pack or two of custom tiles, doodads, or terrained maps that any map maker can put to good use. And of course, our beloved "Settling of Loch Modan."

We are not really looking for more additions to our team as of right now. Only very skilled artists, mainly texture artists, are what we are looking for. Perhaps a triggerer, or better, a JASSer would be appreciated as well to help with the "Settling of Loch Modan." Other than that, please do not badger the leaders with requests to join the team, other than what was stated, we aren't interested. This is not a recruitment thread, this is a way to spread the word about the project far and wide.

We would like to bring you daily updates in this thread, to give you an idea of what we have in store. We shall begin with our very own....

Drenn Stoneaxe - Bronzebeard - Hero

Captain Drenn Stoneaxe is a feared warrior among his enemies. Many Bronzebeards envy his leadership and fighting skills. Attacks are often planned around Drenn's strength and endurance.

Spells:
Granite Skin - Temporarily transforms Captain Drenn Stoneaxe's skin into granite. Granting him bonus armor but slowing his attack and movement speed. (15sec.)

Axe of Stone (passive) - Increases Captain Drenn Stoneaxe's damage.

Boulder Strike - The Captain's hammer transforms into a large boulder that he throws, damaging, stunning and pushing enemies aside in a small area.

Ultimate: Rallying Speech - Grants nearby friendly units a buff which improves their damage as their hp decreases.

Special thanks to Antihero for the skin inspiration, and to Candy_Warlock and Frostigt for the spells.

We will kick off the start of these daily updates by bringing you two today.

Mind you, his spell animations are specific for the abilities listed, so one transforms him into stone, the other makes his hammer disappear for a second and so on.

Sorceror - Dark Iron - Caster Unit

The sorcerers are some of the most senior magicians in the clan. They know the ways of the mind, and can create false visions to fool the unwise, as well as urge on their own warriors. The sorcerers are often distrusted even by their masters because the way they manipulate the weak minded.

Spells:

Ironforge Guard - Bronzebeard - Unit

The finest of Ironforge’s warriors, these fearless defenders wear the traditional Dwarven plate mail, made by the city’s finest craftsmen. In times of peace, they will keep the dwarvish people calm and safe, while in times of war, they live only for the protection of their glorious home.

Battlepriest - Bronzebeard - Caster

The dwarves have never been marked as a especially spiritual people, but many of the Bronzebeards believe that their shaper, Khaz'goroth is in fact a deity, and from this belief, the priests of Khaz draw their powers. Although few in numbers, these warrior-priests may well turn the fortune of war with their powers alone. Their healing powers outmatch the most skilled surgeon, and some of the greatest of these holy warriors can even bring the souls of the dead back into their bodies.

Spells:
Heal - Regular priest’s ability from Warcraft 3

Strength of Spirit - Positive buff that increases the armor of any friendly unit.

Second Chance - Revives one dead friendly unit nearby.

Slave - Dark Iron - Worker

At the bottom of the Dark Iron hierarchy are the commoners. They serve their masters by doing lowly works like cutting timber or setting up buildings. Even though the ones above them sneer, these are the ones who make Dark Iron society prosper.

We originally planned to change gold into iron ore. I do now know if we will continue with that idea. When he gathers resources they appear in his bag on his back.

Crossbowman - Bronzebeard - Unit

The engineers of Khaz Modan spent years refining their inventions. The crossbow was created, and is often used instead of the more clumsy and impractical bow. The crossbowmen of the Bronzebeard have during the days of peace trained themselves into some of the most skilled in the art.

They will all be released publicly when the 30 are finished. We are currently at 21 I believe.

Here are a few of the currently showcased models in this thread animated:

Swordbearer - Wildhammer - Unit

As proof of the great Ironforge blacksmiths, these swords are often presented. They are nearly as long as the ones who wield them, and could cut a grown man in two, from head to crotch. The blades themselves are carved with mystical runes, and the special society of dwarves who wield them always sing the hymns of the ancient sagas when they go to battle.

Firelord - Dark Iron - Summoned Unit

The firelords are the servants Ragnaros. Even though they serve their master's end, they are often summoned by those in need of power, who are foolish enough to believe they can control them. The firelord's purpose in the material plane is to spread chaos among the mortal races, thus weakening the barriers to the elemental plane.

Spells:
Immolation - Regular infernal's ability (passive)

Dreams of Fire – Creates a hole in the ground, which spits out fireballs in waves damaging any enemy who comes within it’s broad range

So many beautiful models! I'm having a hard time finding the thread about the progress. I'm pretty sure you guys had one here. I even looked over at wc3c, and could not find it. You're close to finishing all the models aren't you (not including animations)?

I agree with Pyritie here. Although it looks good than than that. Workers don't need to have amazing models.
