vBulletin to SMF Convertion

Hello, I currently use SMF as my website at: http://blizz-craft.com/
SMF is a good software as there are a lot of portal systems for it, themes, and mods. SMF is like a FREE Version of IPB and vBulletin combined.
The Latest version is: SMF 1.1.10
Latest in Development: 2.0
I came up with this idea becuase The Hive Workshop is lacking behind schedule on Upgrading... SMF Has the following features:

Admin Controll Panel: INCLUDING: Information on Updates
Theme Manager
Package Manager (Where you upload updates or mods)
And More!

You can add a portal system for it! The best portal for SMF with compatable themes is: TinyPortal: http://tinyportal.net/

I've admin(ed) at both SMF and vB forums, and vB is certainly a step above. SMF has a different style, and it is one that is as a whole far less user friendly. Furthermore, THW has modules home-baked for use with vB.

This is pretty stupid. SMF is crap compared to vbulletin. I've used multiple forum systems;

• IPB
• Vbulletin
• PHPBB2/3
• SMF
• MyBB
• PunBB

And vbulletin is the best, by far. It's well worth the cost too.

And your asking hive to downgrade to SMF...?

It's a subscription, so that doesn't hold up. Also, free stuff is often better than paid stuff.

However, in this case it is clearly not so.

Let's say someone bought a steaming cup of coffee at the local Starbucks and threw it on the ground because they disliked it. It sat there for 3 days before you stumbled upon it. "Oh look, free coffee," you say with delight. You could simply take this 3 day old free coffee and walk home happily, or continue on to the Starbucks and buy your own. Anyways, Hive gets donations, and if you guys continue upgrading, you would have to pay more and more, smf= free free free. Its not like a cofee thrown on the floor, its like getting a free Windows Vista without Lag, Additional Free Space, and More!

And The Hive should be at v3.8.x right now.

NOTE: This is only a suggestion for the Hive Workshop to earn more money.

NOTE: The Hive Workshop can convert to SMF then Earn about $100,000,000,000 and convert to IPB or vB again and have a better comunitty. LOL
But still, this is only a suggestion.

VBulletin has most of those too. However, some of them are implemented apart from the initial installation.

Anyways, this wont happen. Trust me. It's not worth the time and effort (which is valuable too).

It doesn't cost to upgrade. Takes up little space, probably about the same as SMF.

And the hive is at 3.8.x.

Well I just think that it resembles a ForumCircle website. ForumCircle is like invisionfree, they let people use their webspace for forums and websites etc. but you have to use their name in your URL. They're generally know for having a lot of clutter on their front pages and it kind of jumps and attacks you...Not to mention you have like all the posts on your website lol

Actually, I run a vbulletin website. And I've used every popular forum software and it's by far the best.

SMF is just plain ugly imo, the layout is horrible, no style will fix that ugly-ness aura it has.

Anyways, vBulletin is a good software, I always wanted vBulletin, but I knew that I had to pay for the software and after one year I had to pay for updates, so I chose SMF as it is similar to IPB and vBulletin in a free format.

I've Administered sites with MyBB (currently administering two sites that use this), phpBB, and SMF (can't say I've used IPB or vB).
SMF is slow, the ACP a mess, and overall the software just sucks.

The hive already has a buttload of stuff that Ralle made that only works with vB. vB's very good. The only bad things about vB is that it can be a bit resource-heavy and its staff permissions system is crap.
