This tournament was created by the Ogre high-priests to settle arguments between clan lords. Many come to this arena but few leave it in one piece.

##############################################################

This is a mini-game type map in which you take on the role of one of the rivaling clan lords and attempt to score points with a ball while pummeling your opponents on the playground.

The ball it self spawns in random locations on map every time it's take out of the field via throw or player has scored a goal. There is a spike trap that also is activated at random locations and causes damage. In the middle line of the playground there is a blaze trap which damages players or transforms the ball in to a fireball that travels faster than normal.
Chests spawn in 2 locations and needs keys (random spawn) to open them to gain their bonuses (tomes or gold). The player uses 3 abilities "Grab", "Trick" and "Throw" to play with the ball. There is AI which is kind-of basic for now but will help you to understand the game better. The game lasts for 10 minutes and after that total score is calculated and the team with more points declared the winner. Will add shops and more items and events in later versions.

Why don't you play the game first and then comment? :)

nothing personal, it's just that boring description that sounds a lot just like another map doesn't make anybody appealling enough to download it.

Why not add some screenshot or video to your description along with detail of what makes this map different than other map of the same genre out there? It doesn't hurt you to do it.

Yeah well even if a map has a good description with enought eye-candy that doesn't meen that it's gonna be good content. Like some of your maps I could mention  nothing personal :D

P.S. Don't judge a book by it' cover :)

Well, a good packaging is what it need to allure customer to purchase it.

The same goes to here as well. Sort of like business marketing where you gotta make something sound as interesting and as good as possible.

Good content or not, it was decide by the community itself and about 80% of all my map was just done with the objective of reaching the min approval requirement at hive and be bugless. To be frankly honest, I only start to be serious in 1 project lately. :p

It been my past experience that author that did not put proper description about their map often did not have enough incentive to work out the map quality standard even to the min standard. Of course, your map does have proper description; it just that it lack of interesting package.

Ok I don't know how to say this but I will tell you few things you can like them or not, but thrust me nothing personal about it, just professional!

Ok I saw your map and first thing that I can see is map review, then I think 2 ogres strange name wtf is this! I open map! then I see playable size 32x32 see map category and type, and I think how can this one be good map with only 32x32 but I want to check more, I check map description, damn no colors, tables, video, poor screenshots without description about them, I read few thing about description, then I move mouse pointer to map preview to see terrain, looks ok for this kind of map so I still don't know everything about it, and at the end see this 351.15 KB! Now I know 50% about your map you can thrust me or not!

ok let see.... 351.15 KB means:
you have map preview that means in best way 200 KB
so map has 151.15 KB left
now come imported stuff like Loading Screen dude no room for that, no models no skins no nothing just base blizzard models!
Terrain alone takes 25 KB maybe more
So you use 100 KB for triggers and all else stuff

Dude I don't need to try map, I know that it is bad!

You got a point about some of the stuff... but still you did not play it and such arguments are not aways true and an opinion such as that (judged before even trying it does not speak very good for your so called professionalism). Just imagine that there are custom models that are actually using in-game textures. Yes there are not allot of custom models but there are some. Flashy descriptions does not aways guarantee a well made map. In game style, I think it's really unique (to my point of view because I have never seen something like it uploaded here) though it needs some minor tweaks at the moment. And a real professional would actually try it before posting a comment and risk being wrong am I right? I'm not saying your gonna like it and I doubt even if you do that you will say it but just give it a try and then comment.

Oh god. Where did this section degrade? You people are fucking judging a map by the amount of custom models? By the description?

Wow. That's it... I officially declare it, we are EpicWar 2.0.
Ahahhaha we are not we just increased, call it, map control quality :D
I can write review if ya want?

BEFORE you judge\review\moderate a map, you MUST download it, play it THOROUGHLY(which means NOT for 1 minute or so), and with the recommended amount of players. Otherwise your review is worth NOTHING(except for ap0calypse who apparently rejected the map because the description looked like the map is bad).

Linaze was the last good map moderator... And look what happened; PurplePoot quit because that's how hopeless the Hive has became, then of course he quit. Great...

Maybe you are right but I see that you didn't checked my work so far
Np isn't big deal!
Point is that I can give nice suggestions and show people bad stuff about their maps, so far there was only 1 map that really impressed me, because I wanted to give mark above 3/5 I played map few times with friends checking stuff like balance etc!
Map name is Scars of War, created by Skar
and I give 4/5 at the end!
After all, all this is only my opinion! If user don't like my rating, comment etc he can ask stuff to remove it from map!

FINALLY! Someone that talks some sense. I had a talk with ap0calypse and asked him why he rejected the map and... well see for your self and think is this how a moderator should act or judge a resource.

Ahm... http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/maps-564/tumbler-169175/#post1675196 Rejected? Care to comment on this? Have you even tried it or is it the 2nd time you look at the comment of -kobas- without even taking your time to test it? The map really needs an update but rejecting it is a bit... extreme. And since it's in the "needs fix" section what do you think needs fixing?

My complaint: look at the status before complaining.
This color: temp. rejected (aka "Needs fix").
This color: perm. rejected (aka "Rejected").

Instead of ranting on about your map being permanently rejected, look at the actual status.
It will reset to pending once the map's been updated.

I DID noticed that and didn't "rant" about it being permanently rejected ->
And since it's in the "needs fix" section ...
And you did not answer my questions.

"rejecting it is a bit... extreme."
Look, it is NOT extreme: it is one of the most commong things on the hive, far more common than approving maps.
And if you look at the pending stats, you can see a "0 pending maps" somewhere, so we basically HAD to moderate your map.
If a map doesn't qualify the current standards, I reject it - leaving it pending wouldn't be productive at all.

Just fix what you think needs fixing, I didn't download your map.

The point is there is nothing to fix and if you have bothered to test it you would know that :) (everything is working fine and map is fully playable in multiplayer) the only thing that I have in mind by updating it is just adding some skills and items and improving AI [optional].
There are no errors in the game.
So if I understand correct by saying:
Just fix what you think needs fixing, I didn't download your map.
you just put it under "needs fix" without any kind of testing... very unprofessional. That is kind of insulting after the work I put in this!
*sigh*, whatever.
I won't reply anymore.
Not in the mood, go whine at someone else, I'm tired of being whined at.
Unprofessional? Sure, whatever you say! If you knew how it actually worked, then maybe I would've cared.

Well I just finished game: me against nothing :D

Honestly idea is fantastic, I really like this game!
But still no more than 1/5 from me and that means rejection!
Why because of Bad Type:Arena, Mini-Game, Miscellanous / Other (use just Mini-Game)
and really poor description, check links about map descriptions in my signature and try to improve it a little

I don't have nothing against ya but map can't be approved without description!
Create one and I will vote for 2/5!

Why not approval, well you must wait for review (tomorrow I guess)

takakenji pls read my post above, I played map...
Nah there is no point to continue with this, I go write review and leave this thread!

Finally something unique.

Map description:

Map Description is really poor!
Why we bothering ya about it?
The reason why a good description is necessary is to encourage players to play your game.
It will grip the attention of people who (accidentally) pass by, attention is one of the basic things a map must have, otherwise it will be forgotten in the thousands and thousands of maps on battle.net.

Every time someone passes by your map and pays attention to the description, is a step closer for your map to get famous soon.
Not only will it get famous: more people will respond, more people will find bugs, more people will try to help you and not only the map will get better, but it might be possible that you improve your own mapping skills.

Ingame description / Custom GI:

Grrr this one is really bad, you just changed upkeep status to your name...

Remove that lumber icon, same for gold (if you don't use them)
Why not to do that this way!
Gold Icon can be changed into Speed Icon
icons_1379_btn.jpg

It show player his movement speed for example
Lumber can be changed into Luck
icons_6666_btn.jpg

Increase chance to steal ball, pick same and so on
Food icon can be changed into score point
nervous-football.gif

0/3 -> No Score, when you score 1 point this can be increased to 1/3
Once when you reach 3/3 It can be show on screen!
OMG PLAYER NAME just scored Hattrick!
This can increase your luck and reduce same for enemy player!

You can also use moral instead of speed etc etc

Now about damage armor icons, grrr you can add whole set of possibilities there!
Hero stats can be changed also!

Recolor GI a little!

Ability icons are bad, check link below so I don't need to explain why...

Multiboard is fine, nothing to comment about it for now!
Maybe few more hints, how to play etc etc in quest log (can be changed also into "Map Info" for example)

Here check this link, maybe will you learn some new stuff...

Why GUI, well I know Jass a little, I can understand but I can't explain it, so I posted only stuff that I can help you with!
Also if someone see that some new tutorials are uploaded or maybe deleted tell me so I can fix list, thanks!

Memory Leaks:

  • If (All Conditions are True) then do (Then Actions) else do (Else Actions)
    • If - Conditions
      • (Player 1 (Red) slot status) Equal to Is playing
    • Then - Actions
      • Unit - Create 1 Ogre Warlord for Player 1 (Red) at (Center of Re 1I1 <gen>) facing 270.00 degrees
      • Set U_Player[1] = (Last created unit)
      • Camera - Pan camera for Player 1 (Red) to (Position of U_Player[1]) over 0.00 seconds
    • Else - Actions
(Center of Re 1I1 <gen>)
and
(Position of U_Player[1])
will create memory leak
If you checked tutorials above then here is no point to comment more about this one!

Also btw, this triggers are just example, there is other bad thing there as well!

How you used Import Manager:

No large mp3 files, no LS with more than 1 MB, no uber large textures etc
Looks cool!

But I didn't see custom loading screen, maybe you should get some!

How you used Object Editor:

Everything is organized nicely

How you used Sound Editor:

You used sound in your map and that is ok!
Epic effect for each different action!

Gameplay:

Gameplay is really great, I really liked how is ball throwed!
But as usually I will comment only bad stuff and give suggestions!

There is no any difficulty, game mode or something like that!
Bad thing, game can become boring and people will stop playing it after a while!

All units are same, grrrrr

Create races!
Ogres (the strongest, the slowest) -> Can stun and knockback enemy units sometimes while attacking
Humans (normal, normal) -> No idea right now :D
Undead (weak, the fastest) -> Can jump

I think that you get point

Then create different units for each race:
Ogres for example:
ogre.gif

Basic Runner (the fastest units here, good for quick bashing enemy units)
AggronStonebreaker.jpg

Goalkeeper (slow, but large chance to get ball from others, has fireball ability for example)
images

Stunner (slow, and the most powerful of all, has bash, and stun abilities)

Etc etc, you see that there is just 2 many different possibilities!

You can create more random events like that spikes!
Create tornado, earthquake etc etc

This map is really awesome project so far!
I really liked how you created physic in your game!
But unfortunately it don't have proper description, some triggers are bad, we saw memory leaks!
Map Type is wrong!
There is no gameplay commands (change camera, music etc) or modes (slow, fast, funny, normal, hard and so on) that can increase game quality even more!

I will give you rep because idea is fantastic!
So far only 1/5 from me, but I can't wait to see some updates, and improved versions!
Good luck with your project!
And for the end my last words:

The Hive includes many talented Warcraft III modders of all skill levels among its users. New members (especially friendly ones) are always welcome. Take a look around and enjoy your stay, may it be long and productive!

Some good places to start include:
Searching the site using the above link always helps, you can learn a lot that way: just reading and learning is usually the best place to start, especially if one feels overwhelmed.

Likewise, the tutorials can really teach ALL of us a thing or two.
The chat room is cool: lots of people can answer questions there.

A few other tips that might help too:
-Always search first! Did I already mention THAT?
-When creating a new thread, make the title VERY specific: so the site's search engine (and we users) can easily understand just what the thread contains.
-Post your new threads in the proper forum: read the descriptions of each one so that you know what to post there.
-If all else fails, just send me a private message! I'll try to do whatever I can to help.

For new users:
If map isn't finished jet, use Map Development forum for that! You can make thread there upload your map so people can tell you what they think just like here! Also for any help with triggers or how to clean memory leaks post triggers and create threads here Triggers & Scripts! Btw if you need any help with WE we have World Editor Help Zone here on THW! And at the end if you need any resource from icons to loading screens check this out Requests!

I hope that my comment helps even a little so you can improve your map, if you want to know more, or just simple ask for something else I will try to help for sure!

BB codes.

Breaking any rules:

Yes one (actually two), your description is not very attractive right now.
Next there are a few leaks, however not hundreds of leaks.
These 2 points can easily be fixed, for the description use these BB codes.

The Rules:

Original Work
Maps must be significantly worked on, or entirely created, by their submitter.

Originality
Maps must be distinctively different from other maps in concept. This may include story, gameplay, goals, etc, but restricts maps which are effectively clones of older versions, such as most LOAP and Footman Wars maps.

Gameplay
Maps must be fairly fun and decently balanced.

Presentation
Maps must have adequate spelling and grammar. Maps must contain a valid author and map name. Maps must contain a proper description of what the map is about.

Map quality:

[Short Review]
Gameplay:

[+] Multiboard
[+] AI
[+] Abilities
[-] Throwing skill is a little glitchy
[-] Custom Music

Terrain:

[+] Ok for its type of map

Originality:

There are some other mini games that are like this one, but it does differ a little, for example you can steal the ball without having to kill your target.

Overall: Well since you are breaking a few rules, you will need to improve the description and remove the leaks if you want your map to be approved.

However judging the map itself, it's a 3/5 from me.
Just improve the description and I will contact a moderator to approve it.

Woah woah woah wtf.

This has got to be the worst user reaction to a map I've ever seen. Seriously wtf guys. The description has nothing to do with the map's quality. Don't judge the map based on the description...just tell him to fix the description.

Also, regarding ap0calypse. That is the worst moderation I've ever seen. Ever. Seriously wtf are you thinking. Play the map before you tell him its screwed.

I mean wtf. "Just fix what you think needs fixing, I didn't download your map."
