The 11th Vampire

The 11th Vampire was a competitive non-save RPG that first began in RoC. It had a compelling storyline along with fun gameplay elements similar to that of Against the Darkness which is in the top ten spots for Map rating.

It is a 5v5v1 map with an optional storyline that at present focuses on the Lieutenant (The solo player). There is a max level of 26, and a handful of quests to be done that provide various rewards.

What I need for a team:

Balance testers - (AKA Beta Testers) who can offer suggestions on how to make the map even, and assure that all heroes are evenly picked, as well as offer tips on how to better the game. They contribute to bug cleaning by submitting replays with detailed commentary. For more info look to the Beta recruitment thread: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/.../recruiting-alphatesters-11th-vampire-156539/

Coders - I need Coders to create quests and events and most importantly add new game modes in. This will greatly improve the replayability of the map. There is currently room for spellmakers, but the spells are half coded already. if you're interested in being a coder, check out this thread: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/...iting-coders-11th-vampire-156551/#post1448667

This particular thread is for the free-flow of ideas, inquiry into positions, and concepts related to the map, and general input. Simply placing your two-cents and thoughts is encouraged. It's where one can see the open source of this map, and mull it's contents over.

It's a staging area until the map can appropriately be placed in the maps section. Perhaps it better belongs in the Idea Factory, but I have this thread here and would like to use it until a mod chooses to move it.

Below, you will find some insight into the game.

The Storyline:

The Fang Squad and The Blood Pack are in a war by night. The town guard unable to stop them has allowed a dangerous procedure to take place. A naive young Lieutenant has taken a non-lethal dose of vampire blood. Will he bring the city salvation or damn it for all eternity? The 11th Vampire has risen.

What's the purpose? How do you win?

You win by PvP. Simply be the first to eliminate all opposition and your clan will reign supreme. Other modes may be added.

What are the quests and how do they work?

Quests are optional and driven by a plot. Some however can be considered merely sidequests or fillers.

They will typically give Vampire Blood to vampires, which is used to purchase valuable artifacts. However they may also yield a few other rewards a vampire may find useful.

For the Lieutenant, you recieve primarily level up scrolls and weapons, but some quests may yield useful items to help you defeat the vampires. Some high level quests can alter the plot, and allow you to side with certain NPCs and alter the game.

So how does the gameplay work. I mean, how do you level and get items?

Leveling is done by killing civilians for blood, which allows you to purchase level up scrolls from havens. As you get stronger, you can start killing guards. This will allow you to level up without spending valuable money.

For the Lieutenant, doing quests earns you paychecks and items, all of which allows you to purchase level up scrolls and slay Vampires for EXP and gold.

You can purchase weapons from NPCs, buy transportation that lets you get to and from areas safer and faster, and various other things.

Be smart when playing. You can't go out of the safety of a haven when day breaks, or you will die. You can gain vampire blood by slaying vampires. Vampire Blood can be spent on artifacts. Getting close to key locations on the map, such as the Palace, Vault, or Castle will most certainly get you killed. Avoid this.

As the Lieutenant, it's important to know that taking on any one vampire is pretty easy, but taking on two is far harder. Don't be afraid to run. Dying to a vampire will result in you joining the ranks of their clan. Still, you'll retain all your power from mortality.

So what else? Are there events?

Every few nights a new event will take place that will altar gameplay. The events are increased blood from strong specimens, the release of two Vampire Hunters and their watchers into the city, and a small handful of others that I haven't mentioned.

Boss Fights?

Right now there are no real "Boss Fights." You may fight certains NPCs for items, and some NPCs are more important than others, but they hardly qualify as "Boss Fights." However with the help of a Coder, this may change and the key NPCs may put up more of a fight.

So how does the Player interaction work, like PvP and Cooperation

Well your team will start out on one side of the map in different Havens, and the enemy will start out on the opposite. Rushing into PVP is as easy as creeping over to the other side of the map and searching for enemies.

The Lieutenant can and typically does go right into PvP. He will maybe do one or two first level quests, but he knows he's stronger than any one Vampire. If he obtains NPC Tynan or Cassidy on his side, this goes doubley so.

If you choose to play with your allies, you'll be surprised at how helpful they are. Each hero can hold purpose on a team. With teammates, you can kill guards at lower levels and reap the reward from it. You'll also have a buddy system, assuring you that any one vampire or lieutenant who runs into you will be caught off guard.

What modes are currently available?

Easy Mode - Extends the duration of night and shortens the length of day. Type -em within the first minute to activate it.

Lives - Set the number of lives for Vampires, Slayers, and the Lieutenant.

-vlives # sets the lives for vampires. 1-7 lives.

-llives # sets the lives for the lieutenant and the mortal vampires. The first death will always turn him into the mortal vampire though.

-slives # sets the lives for the Slayers. Cannot be greater than or equal to the lives of the Lieutenant.

What heroes are there?

Each hero will play a role in the map, and have their uses and disadvantages. Moreso they will all have 4 spells consiting of 1 ult and 3 regular spells. The formula for spell levels is commonly 5/5/5/3. However some heres may have a variant, such as 5/5/5/2/1 or 3/3/4/5/3.

Currently the heroes and their finished spells are:

As for spells, they're pretty much all Triggered spells, and all main heroes will have at least 2/4 of their spells be JASS enhanced.

What if I actually have a FAQ and don't like your stupid, made up FAQ?

Then please submit your Question on this thread and I will answer it. If it's something that should be added to the FAQ I will definently add it.

A word of advice from the time i've been mapping:
Add some screenies from the map, and get some fancy artwork from your project.
Abite like the stuff i got in my Battle Depths map.
You can ask my friend xbacuricx, he's awesome at photoshopping.

The newest version of the map has been uploaded. It is open-source but is not yet ready for online play outside of a controlled environment.

The following are known issues or suggestions for the map:

Hotkey Highlight on the passive skill for Spill.
Havens aren't being pinged on first night.
Game Speed being sped up or slowed down instead of jumping backwards for day/night cycles.
Weaken cultist strength
Concoct not removing mana, and needing a mana cost.
Make Lighthouse Keeper's quest MPI
Fan of Knives too strong.
Higher CD for Assassin in the Night.
Place a Warning for Devour giving shared vision.
Knights spawn in unplayable areas.
Light & Nova Damage at close range is extremelly high.
Mortal Vampire won't scale his level with Lieutenant.
Damned Souls should be restricted to daytime.
Place info in F9 Quests

Extras found would be appreciated when reported. This map has the Victory Conditions removed for solo play testing.

The newest version of the map has been uploaded. It has not been tested, and could cause desync in a few triggers.

If this happens, it'd be appreciated for anyone to tell me when it does, so I can eliminate the issue. Otherwise most all of singleplayer works well. I've added the following debugging commands:

As WorldEdit try typing in these commands to control the game and test it out:

level XX

time XX

If you feel there needs to be more, just ask and I will implement them.

Now, for those who are testing, I would like to point out these revisions and issues I am currently aware of:

Some Future changes and fixes you will see:

Transmute will have no cooldown, but will instead create a buff that will not allow you to cast it. This will be to apply a different cooldown to the Homun and Unit Killing portion of it and the Item portion of it without taking up 2 button spaces.

The Gangrel Vampire will have his life and mana negative regeneration based on his level (And/or possibly his STR and INT). He will also have his life consumed faster if it's below his transformation cost, forcing him to return to a haven and change or at least heal.

If you find imbalances or bugs, please notify me so I can improve this map. Thank you!

The vs game was so easy, and incredibly fun with friends - although people would get themselves killed constantly. Really looking forward to playing this when it's finished.

Not a lot of people are on, so it's tough to get anything more than a 3v3v1 going with friends.

when i asked a bot owner (Elno33) to host Parasite 2, he found this map very interesting and it's been hosted for 4 months. And during the 2 first months it was played a LOT while it's a map with bugs (but still THE best map for me on wc3) and it's 3 years old or more.

So there are ways to play a map on warcraft 3 don't worry about that.

EDIT : I TESTED UR MAp and it can't be launched in wc3 o_0

Here is another replay but from the last version (not the one you uploaded today)

Bugs are almost all about the two active spells Sun Glaive and Clash and one item Vampire Blood

I'm on Northrend most of the time.

the second replay (with nosferatu) is form the newest version
and almost everything is ok :)

Some items are still buggy but i guess i found only two or three bugs (ah yes couldn't buy any cars while i did the car quest before it may be linked).

They are pretty long as replay i'm sorry lol it would be better to beta test together sure

EDIT : new replay for vitae warlock, only spell bugs and tynan quest as a vampire, and a watcher running away :p
The fel orc shaman didn't show up after killing the house, maybe because i didn't get the quest before dunno

LAST EDIT : 5 or 6 replays lol small ones and long ones but all point out spell bugs (succubus and alchemist are the priority lol i guess). Some items bugs and some suggestions (one of the suggestion is really easy to make i guess, Let tynan run around the map :p)

Let me be aware of the changes later because i don't remember every bugs i found and i don't want to retest all later for nothing

You can test it now and it'll take a lot longer to bug. But yes, there are still issues with Timer Utils I need to fix so that it never bugs.

Also I'm still looking through the replays. I can tell which issues are TimerUtils related and which ones aren't, so you can test still :)

Go ahead and tell me your idea when it's all written out. I'll take a look.

I'm going through the replays to fix the bugs. I'll hopefully finish up some more tonight. For now I need to sleep before work.

The game isn't far from a stable release. Allow me to update the change log and move it to the thread. I just need to finish scripting one Quest series then start and finish another, after that I will do the Quests in the Quest log and I can release it. I may or may not implement the set spell for Royal Coupe set before I finish.
(Total of 12 Hours of work)

Until a little after the first release, there will be no victory triggers.

Also I've made a thread similar to this one in the Map Development thread, as this one is no longer used for recruiting.

Hmm, alright.
Can you fill out the form that i use to take sig requests in my signature shop?
It'd be easier for me to make them to your liking.
You can find the form here.

Once you've filled it one time for each request you'd like to make, send it to me in a PM and i'l whip up something for you. :)
I wont be able to do anything until after christmas though. :S

yes i tested the returned (and i like Tanasren the Returned, i feel so powerful with this name xD) no bug on spit but sometimes it disappears in the ground
need to test with u !!!

EDIT : i attached two replays, one shows a bug with Dave (normaly) a guy told me he was blocked dunno if its right
the other is very long since its a public game
it shows how the PureBlood is weak xD he is stronger than before but he is still weak. He is funnier but he is not so fun though. I didn't try the telepathic crush on items i forgot. Otherways i wrote in observers the bugs but it's hard to find them so i list what i remember :

The returned Bug (en)rage dmg increase stacks
Spit may be rebalanced (i tried only a few it seemed like it was underpowered) and tooltip must be complete !! I also suggest to make it a little bit faster and long range !

Tynan's quest not working, and his beast is enemy with me. He says nothing when I free him.
Charnis' quest implemented but why she is friend of you when you go into the tower ? The phoenix was almost dead when i found him, she should summon him when enemies are near. She also dropped nothing.
F9 has some bugs inside
Pureblood Ultimate bugs, no cooldown or soemtimes it doesnt work or sometimes i'm invulnerable to sun and sometimes it works lol
I also suggest telepathic crush should have an effect on self (lol)
Bug with the other spell of pureblood you need to check the middle game
Blood Knights don't grant any humans blood by killing
I couldn't attack the house for the Ogre quest
The guards were already at rank 3 whereas there were no lieutenant
The mayor didn't drop the Amulet

Maybe there are more

Spit is actually suppose to be weak. It's so you can spit between your slow attack and keep the enemy from running away or attacking you very fast. Every time you spit it adds up on slow too. It helps for chasing purposes in a team fight. However it does need more power to it, so I increased the duration of the slow. You can cut any enemies run speed down to half if you keep doing it.

The Pureblood is much stronger in the version I am working on. His voracity has a pretty killer effect, and Blood Star deals major damage in areas with a large amount of people. Also you can put two stars in one area to double the damage.

Telepathic Crush is kinda weak, but it benefits from (AoE) knockdown, push (Can push allies up walls, which may help you find a secret item/quest sometime later ;D) and long ranged pick up on items (change the effect). It does pretty good single target damage too.

The bonuses from abilities were majorly buggy. It was the system I was stuck using. Bug has been fixed and I've imported a much better, more reliable system for bonuses. :)

The Phoenix is actually Alexis's. Someone must've fought and/or killed Alexis in the game you were playing and didn't kill the phoenix.

Fixed the Blood Knight kill bug. They grant blood now.

The Pureblood Ultimate may or may not be fixed, we'll have to test that :X

Guards actually become stronger if you don't set -em. That's why they're rank 3. (Might just make a slowest/slow/normal time mode and then a 0-7 difficulty rating on guards settable by the Host.)

The Quest bugs I think I fixed. I just wish I could get them to update now.

Everything else is new bugs I didn't know about :) I will fix them asap. Thanks Tanasren!

P.S. A new map will be available in the next 32 hours. The current map is backdated to when I implemented 2v mode and 3v mode, so about 3 days old.

I've looked over the replay and I'm super excited. I see a lot of areas where I could balance out the game. :) I do have some questions about it. Hopefully all the players enjoyed it tho.

lol in 32 hours (made me laugh)

i hope you remember the funny ideas we had (like Cassidy yelling "Hey i'm back City because the lieutenant was a big noob" if Dave dies after Charnis took the power)

About the guards they were rank 3 but i wrote -em, i always write -em now i know it reduces the daylight. One of the big problem is there is nothing to do during Day time and for beginners it's hard to understand lol or to not leave ^^
We should write a guide which would appear during the first days (like at 2.00 PM a message appears saying "If you want more informations about ... type -xx). Same for a little guide for the first 2 minutes so the beginners start killing as many humans as possible and don't fight guards. It's boring for me to explain to every players ingame in french and english how to play xD and i know i'll win anyway lol

Yes telepathic crush highest rank does high dmg on single target but the knockback is really weak (but a knockback used by a melee Hero is not so useful that's why I proposed some sort of "Entangle roots" or "bones" which would rise from the ground but takes 2 or 3 seconds and then catch every units here so you need to aim well with the knockback. Maybe two modes for the knockback spell, one which does dmg and little knockback and one which does little dmg and better knockback). (lalalal) (yes i like () )

And as for spit, it doesn't interfere with the attack ? so i can use it even when i'm attacking ? it wont make me miss a hit or lose attackspeed ? anyway you need to write that it stacks and that it's useful ^^

The blood star did very few dmg at hight lvl on the sniper it did 35-45 dmg during the whole duration lol But it's the best farming spell xD
