Sothern California Earthquake

Just had a 5.9 here around noon in the greater LA area, it was centered in East LA, and was felt about 100 miles away. More here: Earthquake rocks Los Angeles - CNN.com

I was at work. It's a 4 story building. It started to sway back an forth. I was on the 1st floor. The building had to be evacuated after that for an hour while they inspected the building for damage.

It was a 5.6 right when it hit, then they changed it to a 5.8. Then an hour later, they said it was a 5.4. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as the Northridge quake a number of years back (6.8), I don't want to go through something like that again.

I was at work and it just felt like a gentle swaying of the building. I actually had the California earthquake watch page up before the room stopped shaking. But they didn't post it until a minute or so after the quake.

No one in my class bothered ducking and covering because we were in a portable classroom, and even if the ceiling collapsed on us, it'd be like hitting our heads against styrofoam.

Anyway, this thread was really meant more for the day it happened, as I could not find any reports of damage on CNN and though maybe someone from Hive had something to report. Might as well lock it up as it's served it's purpose.
