Hey i just saw that the signatures has too low limits
Only 8 lines? 1000 characters + BB-codes? 500 characters without BB-codes?
This is crazy:hohum:
Can you please make the signatures limit biggers?
How about 10 to 20 lines(it is still a limit and most users will not use them all)
And 5000 characters + BB-codes(it is still a limit too, and a... stupid limit :slp:)
And 2500 characters without BB-codes?
I think this would be better so users may add more information to their signatures.

I made a voting pool for this :nw:

Edit : AirHead came with a new idea... Small signatures(4 lines limit) for comments!(for example in social groups, that small messages. To have a small signature for comments)...

hmmm.... here a 300 characters limit without BB-codes
and 600 character limits with BB-codes, and all tags(excepting HTML of course) allowed.

/!\ These are the ideas /!\
/!\ Please agree or do not agree /!\
/!\ Vote /!\
/!\ If you do not care about this subject vote for not care instead of voting to disagree /!\

The 8-line limit is fine. The char limit can be a bit annoying, but that's why you can learn to use efficient vB code.

A useful tip is to use [thread] tags when linking to a post on the forum. See how this thread's url is http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/f97/signatures-changes-104482? See that number at the end? That's the thread ID. Use [thread] tags like you would tags. So to link to this thread. ...com/forums/f97/signatures-changes-104482]link
[url=http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/f97/signatures-changes-104482]link[/url]

After:
[thread=104482]link[/thread]
[thread=104482]link[/thread]

Much shorter.

link...[thread=104482]link[/thread]...

Nice :razz:
And i may agree with 10 lines at least... And the character limit is realy pissing on me!
I want to add more information in my signature and i am using hidden tags
And a more intelligent idea from moderators is to put a person's WHOLE signature in a hiddden tag

I've been thwarted by the limit needlessly when using [BROKE] tags.

[BROKE="Lots of words that don't bother anyone scrolling or otherwise."]Stuff![/BROKE]

So yeah, there are valid reasons have larger limits. Also, why have these limits when sigs are already forcibly cropped to 146 pixels tall?

And since a whole lot of you will complain, how about we only grant bigger limits to people who wouldn't abuse them?

I find it an art form to design a signature that tells a lot without taking a lot of space or letters. I think you can handle saying everything you need to say without a limit increase. Consider it a personal challenge. :)

Look at my sig... It contains more information than any image may contain...
I would like to use HTML codes in my sig D:

Edit : Hey maybe you're asking why i made the third choice in the pool...
If any person reads the subject and doesn't cares it should better ignore it than chosing to disagree...

A while back I had this sig, but had to abandon it because the limits thwarted my full entry of data.

And I included you so you don't feel left out. ;)

I say there should be no line limit and no char limit but only displays a certain amount of space (like HT said) but I think the amount of space displayed should be increased to roughly this much

this would make a great deal of people happy without covering tons of pages with signatures. And maybe a mini-sig for comments and things of the such. like when you are posting in resource section it makes your sig the mini-sig that can't fit allot of space, and maybe if your post is one or two lines it does the mini-sig; which would be roughly

I think they're perfect as it is. There's no need to have things like incredibly oversized images in your signatures. However, I think it would be reasonable to make it so that if you put something in
tags, when you click them and it opens it stretches to the needed amount. Currently that doesn't happen, it still cuts off.

I don't want an unlimited lines limit, the line limit is still too low... maybe 10 or 12...
But there should be no character limit since only some characters will be showed in the signature 'cause of the lines limit. And please study my signature and find my way to use "hidden" tags... I can't show all my projects... I have more than 2... I use a GUI tag to make enough space on the screen to see the project table... Other things are in a "simpletable"...
Edit:And yes... simple comments small signatures is a very good idea!!!
AirHead, i will include this idea in the thread's root post!

I think we should use Spoiler on the Hive.
When you press the button, the length of the post is lengthened. The spoiler itself should have a char-limit (higher than usual sigs), but you should be able to have more than 1 spoiler. ofcoarse you can press the button again to remove it again.

This way, people that are interested can read your sig and others can just scroll past it.

Vote ended!

So 20 people agreed, 19 disagreed, and there are 17 or more people that do not care.

Result : Changes should be done.
I let Ralle chose how much lines to be...

So(i know Ralle :smile:) 10 lines limit
5000 characters limit (+ BB-codes)
2500 characters limit (without BB-codes)
And a small 4-lines signatures for comments(like in social groups messages)

Result image attached!

Well, I voted that I don't agree, making it 20-20.
Let's face it, it's an art form to make a signature that says a lot with very little text. It's hardly site-critical that the signature be extended or even adjusted in any way, shape, or form.

I say make do with what you have, and we'll consider changing it to something else at a later point. If you can't handle the current signature limits, then the answer is to either reduce what you have to say or not say anything at all. It's not difficult, I know you all can do it. :)
