my signature has a size of 640 x 192
Rules said:
Images may be no greater in size than 640x192 pixels or 976k (whichever is smaller).
and only the upper half is shown
is it a bug or supposed to happen because of some weird reason?

Signature code:
[ IMG]http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/members/165558-albums2488-picture30832.png[ /IMG]
(stuff inside of [ CODE] tags is still interpreted as code instead of text...supposed to happen as well?)

edit:
same for google chrome, opera and internet explorer
and it's not possible to see this signature unless one is logged in
and neither does it work if the image is uploaded on a different page but it fixes the problem for non-members to be unable to see the signature
I'll attach the signature here so I can be sure it won't be deleted
edit:
just measured the height of the signature and it's equal to 8 lines of text although it's no text
it would be really nice if the signature could recognize the difference between text and images so I don't have to redraw it again :ugly:
edit:
just scrolled through the site code and found this:
Code:
        <!-- sig -->
            <div style="max-height: 146px; overflow-y: hidden; overflow-x: hidden; ">
                __________________<br />
                <img src="[URL="http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/view-source:http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/attachments/site-discussion-97/83646d1276361249-signature-cut-off-sig_perfect_sized.png"]http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/attachments/site-discussion-97/83646d1276361249-signature-cut-off-sig_perfect_sized.png[/URL]" border="0" alt="" />

            </div>
        <!-- / sig -->
change 146 to 192 and it should be fine

This is on purpose. Signatures are placed in a contain that has a fixed height and hides anything that overflows outside of that height. This is to keep people with large signature images from stretching or breaking the page.

I'm guessing the rules don't match the current height of the signature container.

EDIT: Yes. It looks like the signature container has a max height of 146 pixels.

Just shrink the image then. Not that hard to do you know.

Can you guys also increase the number of lines you can place in a signature, including a double of the number of characters and codes you can use? Because my signature is already at it's maximum, both characters and lines.

I've got a screen with an uber hight resolution so it will look crappy and small
and it would be deformed and I want to use every single pixel I am allowed to use :S
(maybe the size limit was adequate when there were these tiny 640 x 480 crap screens but today...)

This, I cite, "uber hight resolution" is how large exactly?

On a 640x480 resolution these signatures would cover half the screen.

Besides, your signature looks exceptionally ugly. Large, blurry text and it looks like you've scaled the whole signature up to "fit the width capacity" .. you absolutely need to shrink it so it doesn't looks so blurry and plain. I think half the size would be decent.

I don't want to argue about if it is ugly or not because I didn't make anything with GIMP before and am not as experienced as some others are but it's not part of the topic anyway

and actually it's that blurry because I scaled it down a lot (didn't shift the proportions though else the symbol would be deformed)
the tree had a size of 2000 x 2000
the symbol was 600 x 600 and the names were 600 x 200
if there is some make it look better when scaling it down feel free to tell me
I'll change it from time to time anyway but first I'd like to know how this size stuff will turn out now
the tree is rather high so a signature on the right side instead of one at the bottom would be perfect anyway and wouldn't take that much space since every post is at least as high as the avatar+name+text+date+postcount+repcount+eventual icons etc.

I want just put a thing here - disallow animated signatures.

imho a little animation is nice if it's decent enough but a fullscreen flashy green-red-orange-yellow thing wouldn't
hard to set a border

*bump*
I remade the signature (this time with 146 px size) but it doesn't work since the "__________________" between signature and text influences the size as well
what's a reliable size now? (don't want to make it again again)

if ralle still has issues because of moving to the new server it's ok but I'd like to get a response by someone who has something to do someday :)
