You don't necessarily need to remove avast. There might be a update to fix it already once you're back.
Others that could be faulty are Flash, Manycam, Comodo Firewall/Antivirus/Defense/etc, Java -- The list goes on. Try looking for a update for any software that might manage Drivers.
