Opening Cinematic (WoW one) gets skipped instantly when playing on latest wc3 patch.
Ch1
Love the outland atmosphere of the opening cinematic camera shot.
The small size of the map was good--- reminded me of Ch1 Human Reign of Chaos, just something light to start.
Ch2
The clans joining you was a fantastic feature of this level. Anything with friendly AI is always good.
I chose the clan option with the least number of allies (allied with yellow, the only base with a hero) since I wanted to see if it was worth it, and got the cloak of flames. Not sure if that item is also available to people who side with the more numerous allies (brown/green).
Ch3
Glad I had the infernal stone for that 2nd wave that attacked when I was defending Tempest Keep.
Allessandra destroys the portal too early; 2 workers got left behind with her.
Ch4
Love the snow terrain here.
Before finishing the mission, bought as many slow orbs as possible to stack up mass damage on all heroes (did this in future chapters too, so no hero had empty inventory slots).
Ch5
Showing the Wretched watching the energy being channeled from a distance was a fantastic scene to add in. It basically foreshadows their attacks without needing to directly say they will attack.
Would have been nice if Wretched had a hero of their own to give their bases a bit of flavour.
I don't think the purple UD base actually attacked me at all, and his workers were just standing there.
Ch6
Sylvanas' base was very overpowered, it was great.
Really like missions where we don't start with allies but we can gain them through side objective.
Ch7
Nice dark cave effect, loved the spooky theme.
There was no resolution to the ghost story line. We saw it fighting Sylvanas then saw it again in a weaker form at the end. It was supposed to be the being that was trapped here to contain it, and it felt there wasn't a proper ending to how it died.
Ch8
I know it's good to have the chance to play other races, but this still would been good opportunity to have AI control the Forsaken.
Would have had trouble winning this if I didn't rush the green base at the start and destroy its workers/ main building.
During the final scene, when the Undead retreat, some of them try to run back towards the Elves, as if the AI were fighting for control vs the trigger trying to make the leave the area.
Ch9
I enjoy this being a short mission.
I enjoyed walking through the Blood Elf bases/ areas to get to the Infernal, since the Waygate was in the opposite direction of the Infernal ping spot itself.
Good way of explaining why Kael went against Illidan. His reasoning here sort of made sense.
Ch10
My favorite mission I think because of all the allies we can gain. Would have been nice if Illidan was so powerful that we needed all our allies sending waves from their bases in order to defeat him.
Ch11
It would have been better to make orange's attack waves not AI controlled, and just trigger based instead, to avoid it going back and forth when yellow sends new units to replace old guard units.
What happened to Illidan's forces that were about to reach us at the end?
Ch12
Would have been nice to have some enemy heroes attacking us, not just waves of enemies.
The barrier on left side of Sunwell could have been removed once we reached Kael, so during the fight with him and Kil'jaeden at least our forces could reach us quickly.
The Draenei base should have been placed more outward and not in the top left corner, since whenever the Demons sent out units, like 1 or 2, the Draenei would attack them and retreat. At least if they were in front of us, they could act as a meat shield.
Besides positioning (putting AI base in front of player base, and not behind or in a corner, to at least help us defend if nothing else), other things can be done to reduce AI screwing up, such as removing timer between waves so computer forces attack instantly, and instead have the number of unit producing structures be what confines how "fast" it takes for an AI to launch an attack, so if it hits a single unit and retreats, it heads straight back out again.
Epilogue
I like how Lor'themar and Aewynne keep stopping periodically when walking in that cutscene, as if to emphasize certain topics of their discussion, and then they continue walking.
The political topics they discuss (future of the Blood Elves / Dalaran) make these cutscenes pretty interesting to read.
Rommath is suspicious of Dalaran not having good intentions at heart, but seems to forget how he and the other Blood Elves basically drained the life out of M'uru.
General Points
I normally try to avoid replaying campaigns I have played before, but sometimes I give in and replay really good ones. I really enjoyed playing this campaign last weekend. The highlight of this campaign, in my opinion, is all the RTS missions where we have friendly AI. That is probably my favorite aspect of campaigns. Something about watching allies AI crush enemy AI while I sit back after doing the heavy work at the start of the mission feels wonderful.
Saw some comments about AI attacking harder in "reforged". Honestly, it feels like slander against the recent version(s) of Wc3. Yea, some missions were hard, but since there is no difficulty setting, there will inevitably be some missions that people find difficult, since no one difficulty fits all. Hopefully, people in the future are more accepting of the good changes the latest Wc3 patches have brought, instead of bashing Blizzard for no reason.
