Moin moin =)

It's me again with a mysterious problem. When I create an own unit, I duplicate it. But know whatever I click and whatever unit I duplicate and whatever I make, I just got this:

I think it's just a kidding fault, but I don't get it, what I do always wrong -_-

When you duplicate the unit, de-select the model in which it uses when you are presented with whatever it is you want to duplicate.

In that list, personally, I don't duplicate anything.
But de-selecting everything, you only duplicate the unit, and not everything else.
See when you duplicate and unit you have the option of duplicating all the models, attacks, animations, sounds, etc that they use as well.
However when you duplicate a model it makes a new path, and the end result is the big white orb.

Ok so far, so clear, but now I have a unit AND this white orb at the same place.

At all: When I create a new unit, I make a right click on it, click "duplicate", a new window is open and now I can select things. I learned from Dr Super Good that I need to select "Actor", so I do this and press ok. Now I right click the new unit > modify and give it another name and then I got a unit AND the white orb. What now?

======
Also I have another question. When I create a new unit, I see in the "Object Explorer" (have German version, hope it's the correct translation - the window left-down), that are some lines green marked. In those lines I see that the editor copied something. Is that correct? Is that needed? Can I delete it?

Translation:
- Builder (Name)
--- Actor
----- Archon-Warp-Sound
----- Archon-Warp-Sound Copy 2
----- DarkTemplar_Death (Unknown) Copy
----- DarkTemplar_Death (Unknown) Copy 2
----- DarkTemplarAttackLaunchSound (Unknown)
----- DarkTemplarAttackLaunchSound (Unknown) Copy 2
----- Dark Templar - Attack
----- Dark Templar - Attack Copy 2
----- Dark Templar Copy
----- Dark Templar Copy 2

====
And my last question, for this but not directly to the topic: I want make this unit like a builder, so he can build structures. What must I add to do this and where can I set the buildlist?

Hope you can help me (again) -> Thanks

You now have two actors that are both linked to your unit. One with model and one without, they are both displayed (the one without as sphere). So just go ahead and delete one of them (In the list that are "Dunkler Templer Kopie" and "Dunkler Templer Kopie 2").

Builder: I suspect it's the "build" ability. In the Info+ field, you add buildings that can be build (and set build time), then you need to add them to the units command card as well (same way you do it for any ability). Also buildings propably need to have "Buildable" ability.

Delete your unit and start from scratch.
When you duplicate the unit, do not duplicate the actor unless you want to edit it, for example you want this specific unit to be larger or thinner than the average DT. If you want to do this, I can't help you. But if you don't care if it uses the original actor for the DT, do not duplicate the actor. This problem will cease to exist.

The green lines indicate something that exists souly in your game, and will not carry onto another game in the GE. For example, if you edit a barracks, it will become green to indicate you've changed it. However if you make a new map, it will be blue again.

What you need to do is right click every green box and select "use parent link" or something along those lines. Then go and delete whatever it is you've made so you don't get confused in the future (the 'link' to the object that was greened out).

As for builders.. well it is MUCH more difficult than the WC3 version, but can be MUCH more better in a lot of ways.
The way a builder works in this game is rather simple; command cards. Create a custom image (if you want to, that is) or use a pre-existing one. Place this image on the command card (usually at the bottom left). For Command Type you select "Submenu". Then set the "Command Card" field right below it to a number of your choice. For the example I will use #2. After you are done this, go to "Command Card" at the top and select #2. Place the abilities (build abilities) in the places you want and make sure you have a "Cancel Submenu" ability somewhere so they can get out of the building menu.

Essentially how the building operation goes now, is an ability leads the user to another command card which contains all the building abilities to create whatever it is you want.

Unlike Warcraft 3 where you could just say "okay, they can build this this and this" you need to actually create a build ability for each and every building / unit that you want another building / unit to be able to make.

So for "Build Marine" it has its own ability. For "Spawn Drone" it has its own ability. For "Build Pylon" it has its own ability, and so on and so forth.

You should be good to go now. It's been a little while since I've done this kinda stuff, but if you fittle around with the knowledge I've given you, you should do just fine.
