Guys, tell me why the heck would you want snow?

Maybe it's because I'm in Canada, but snow is REALLY annoying. You can't drive (though you can drift ), you need to shovel it, everything seems colder with snow, it gets stuck in your choose and is freezing, when it's high, you have difficulties to walk, sometimes you can't even get out of your home.

The only advantages I see is you can do snowboarding/skiing and when I was in HS, I used to love when there was snow storm, you wouldn't be able to go to school the day after.

Same here in Wisonsin (State in Us, close to canada.) We got way too much snow, and it is gay cold all the time.

the resulting chaos we get from 1cm of snow never ceases to crack me up

We get 4,5 cm snow, and the soceity breaks completly down! :D
People haven't bought snow tires for their cars, so they can't drive up hill. Well we just had snowstorm during the night, so now there is 10 cm snow everywhere.

New hat, commie style

Meeh, the kind of snow here in north/west germany, near the netherlands, just causes desperation... I mean I love snow.....but the probability for snow is like 5% here... and if it is snowing, it is just 1cm snow (like today), this will just make the ground be wet, muddy and slippery since it melts away damn fast. This kind of snow sucks because snow's only great if there is A LOT snow...or at least enough for a SNOWBALL WAR!! MOAHAHAH!!

Exactly like it is right here now... just a small 1 cm layer of snow that makes everything slippery.

Well there is not a lot of snow here yet, but it has been snowing all day long and this picture was taken in the morning.
My camera was failing though so it's blurry. :<

(Yes, I don't know how to post a normal image)

Bike in snow?
You gotta be out of your mind. Since your in England (and by the mention of trains) I'm guessing you don't have a snomobile or four-wheeler to pull yourself around, why not a moped?
Walking? By your pic, I think you should get outside more. =D

I live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada; always cloudy with neither snow or rain. :<

I deny your chosen living spot, the Sierra Nevada foothills are not cloudy, they are either desert, or alluvial plains, sun almost year round.

You are thinking of places like Lake Tahoe, which is in the mountains, not it's foothills, and even then it is only cloudy in the winter, gets rather hot in the summer.

Edit: HappyCockroach, nazgul pee.

I was talking about winter. And it's cloudy right fucking now. You're trying to lecture me with shit you just googled on the place that I live. -_-

This is the weather forecast for this week:

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 44. East wind around 8 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58. Light and variable wind.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. Calm wind becoming east around 6 mph.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 54. East wind around 6 mph becoming southwest.

Sunday Night: A 20 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45.

Monday: A 40 percent chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49.

Monday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40.

Tuesday: A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47.

Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 51.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Also, what the fuck? Foothills are not alluvial plains, that makes no goddamn sense. How are hills plains?

Please tell me how those are similar.

Here is how, you linked a regular plain, alluvial plains are created by runoff from large mountains.

See that valley? I have been down in there, it is hot, dry, and sunny year round, as well as the hills around, and the mountains themselves, although they are noticeably cooler, sometimes they get snow too.

Edit: Btw, before you go on me saying that isn't the Sierra Nevada, no, the one in the foreground isn't, but the mountains in the background are.

Edit2: and to prevent whining over how that is the southern Sierra Nevada:

Oh hai, a couple little clouds.

And where the hell are those supposed foothills :p (Eastern side has no foothills)

I live in the western foothills of the Sierra Nevadas, just 40 minutes from Tahoe. There are no deserts, no plains here. I know there are on other parts of the Sierra Nevadas, but I'm not there, so it doesn't matter. You're talking about the eastern and southern sides, the sides that get no rain and clouds because the mountains block them and because there is no humidity, thus it looks how you just showed.
How long have you lived where I am to know it better than me?

You can't disprove me because I'm looking at clouds right now, have been looking at clouds, and by all indication will be looking at clouds for the rest of the winter. I'm not talking about year-round, I'm talking about right now. I know it gets fucking hot in the summer, I live here. It can still get cold in the winter. It got to -7 the other night. I would hardly call that hot.

that isn't the foothills, 40 minutes from Tahoe at 55mph is only 36.5 miles, your dead center in the mountains

Just tell me the damn town name

Btw, South Lake Tahoe and Tahoe are different cities technically.

And one more thing, I live in Silicon Valley, I have been to Tahoe 7 times in the winter, and 4 times in the summer -.-

/me gets out pic of rafting company for proof

On the boat it says MTN. Air, you can go check out the damn company if you want, it is near the start of the Truckee, boats were blue and white

Note: this pic is old, not sure if the company is still running

Edit: don't say post the pic, it's in a plastic fridge magnet they gave us as a souvenir

Just putting this here: I like turtles

Wow, a whole 11 times. You must be an expert on the climate. Also, you've clearly never been driving through the mountains from Tahoe on a weekend. I would love to drive down at 55mph. >_> 40 minutes was really more of a rough estimate on a good day.

I live in the foothills and it is cloudy and cold in winter.

I was doing standard highway speed, I know the freeway there you can usually only get about 35 in the winter, I just gave 36.5 the maximum distance.

each of those stays was more than 3 weeks, so I have been there almost a year total
