Pelt mapping and seam questions

I'm teaching someone how to model and so far we're making good progress but I'm having a hard time explaining seam placement when pelt unwrapping (i.e. the whole concept of "where you should cut if you want to "unfold" this).

Do you guys know of any tutorials or guides that could help?


EDIT: If you don't know what I mean by pelt mapping or seams, then please don't post. Nothing personal but I don't want general unwrapping tutorials unless they're specifically about pelt unwrapping (especially seam placement). But mostly the seam placement.

do you mean unwrapping when you say unfolding? and what program, i wrote a tutorial about this yesterday, might help

I'm aware about the pelt mapping, and it can be very useful in harder situations.
There's a 3DS Max tutorial about it in this link:

Though newer versions of 3DS Max have a slightly different UI look on the pelt mapping part.
