Passive effects

  1. Give them the "ancient" classification in the the editor and make your trueshot aura and other things that should only work on ranged units have "non-ancient" in their targets list.
  2. Remove the abilities from the melee unit (keep some dummy passives probably to show on the command card). Instead, on every attack spawn a ranged dummy unit with 1-1 damage and the appropriate abilities, then order that unit to attack the melee unit's target.
  3. Trigger the effects entirely yourself (Freezing Breath is gonna be a little harder but Burning Oil is reasonably simple).

Isn't there just a way to turn off its visual? It supposed to be a passive ability for siege unit that causes building to "collapse". However, I'm unable to change the visuals, so it always shows the green, poisonous cloud. Other than the visual effect, I'd be okay with how to slow poison works.

You should be able to delete all the models listed under "Art" on the ability and the buff it applies to make it completely invisible. Be aware that if you delete the buff from the ability it will use the default buff for it (with associated visuals) because you can't have no buff.

If that doesn't work then slow poison is unique and can't be changed, but I feel that's unlikely.
