Val'kir/Djin inspiration? It does have that Halls of Valor vibe to it.
btw, try to work with darker background colors. The light ones usually make your texture flow go wild sometimes.

mainly because of the color scheme. and yeah, i kinda like how the upper part of the first one looked. the entire shield seems more 3d to me, if it was finished.
