Gather all the stanth lore you can find.

Make up any kind of exciting things to help pay for my lack of being on time.

And make a few stories of your own. Some of the minor tales of your race's doings in the world.

And until the main lore is done, have some fun comparing and gaining ideas for each other ^^

Lol ^^, Well, Hmm.. Ok here it goes: 2 Years after the Celestial elf by the name of Elenai left the underground domain of the Kianor, Those same crystaline creatures began going up more and more often, They even began to construct a new town on the surface, Loads of experiments with the Surface objects came trough that, increasing the incredible knowledge of the Kianor. (some small story I made up^^)

Fukken sorry. There actually was one opportunity during which nothing came up, and I was lazy about doing this.

Flowery: Stanth began when very little could be called old, as a union of various magical warriors who had suffered from the acts of newly emerging necromancers and the dead they raised, who earnestly wanted to put an end to the trouble they caused; ironically enough, approximately half of Stanth's members were archaic necromancers, who now constitute the entirety of Stanth. While the other warriors had reasons such as family and friends (none of them sought fame or fortune), the archaic necromancers saw their arts as sacred (in a sense), and could not stand to see its purity corrupted by bastard offspring of various other sacred magics.

The archaic necromancers were obsessed with knowledge, but in particular knowledge of death; they studied it, temporarily reversed its effects on the body, longing for their own, hoping to know how their journey to their ancestors would be. Though their arts shared the same strengths as their enemy's, their natures were different, and the other warriors came to an uneasy truce with the archaic necromancers.

As time passed, Stanth slowly grew, but so did the emergence rate of necromancers. Eventually, the members of Stanth combined their many different arts to build a fortress to house their knowledge, and most importantly to protect and conceal a mighty magical observatory. The mighty array of magic circles was housed in the very centre of the archives that held information on their enemies and their enemies' arts, and could pierce any distance and any enchantments their enemies could muster.

Not so flowery: Stanth is almost older than dirt, and started off as a bunch of warriors (mostly magical) who had been affected by necromancy, and basically wanted revenge. Some of them were archaic necromancers, who didn’t want their art polluted by random corrupted arts and were also obsessed with knowing pretty much everything. Stanth grew, and eventually created the fortress to house all their information, particularly (and most importantly) the information on their enemies.

Hidden in the deepest level of the library is a massive array of magical circles that form a sort of telescope; this large series of circles is known as the observatory, and is painfully slow and hard to focus, but can see through anything, including space, time, and magical barriers. One of the reasons that it is hard to focus is in fact because the settings for time vary greatly depending on the settings for space, so information tends to be either dated or something that won’t be useful for decades. Towards that end, there are five smaller observatories that can see exceptionally far (but only into the present), but can not see through more complex magical barriers.

The magic favoured by the current Stanth is an amalgamation of the magics that had proven themselves successful and efficient against the undead. This includes advanced hydromancy (efficient), lots of neutral magic (versatile, can do similar jobs to elemental magic, even if less powerful), lots of concealment magic, and LOTS of magic circles (versatile, powerful, efficient, worth the time to make them), LOTS of necromancy, because it’s easiest to fight the dead (and necromancers) with necromancy; take control of the necromancer’s army and use it against him/her, or stop the dead with necromantic command spells, and then just kill them.

And it seems that I've been confusing obsidian with onyx. I'll go back and change the most relevant post, which includes the disaster.

Edit: Wow, I forgot some huge details.

Most warriors of Stanth are fairly advanced in other fields of magic than the three that all Stanth members use.

Members of Stanth use steel swords that are designed to be able to switch in and out plates of various materials that are hazardous to various monsters. Plates of silver, redwood, and oak are not uncommon. The swords are long and thin, and are bladed with obsidian; as it is exposed to all the cardinal elements (water, earth, fire, air) during its creation, obsidian is excellent as an elemental amplifier.

Warriors of Stanth all dress in tan tunics and pants, but hidden under hooded brown cloak. Most warriors wear some form of chain mail over the tunic, although some prefer plate mail, and some none at all. All of Stanth warriors have identical faceless white masks, with a blue line running from the left eye vertically to the bottom of the face, though it fades to white before it finishes.
Nodes of Stanth generally wear similar tan tunics and pants, underneath robes of the same brown colour.

Stanth settled into its current organisation very early in its development, and the members are tiered into the following classifications: Warriors, nodes, and elders.

Warriors are the members who actually go out on missions to slay the dead. They are technically the lowest classification, and have varying sub-ranks that are generally based on tactical skill and experience. These sub-ranks only matter in Stanth Fortress (a small amount) and for missions in which many members will be participating, with the highest rank technically being in charge. The ranks are soldier, warrior, veteran, and generals. The majority of Stanth's warriors are ranked as warriors or veterans, with several generals present. Generals technically have rank higher than most nodes, and soldiers are generally members with little or no tactical ability, and are somewhat separate from the rest of the hierarchy; technically soldiers have the lowest rank within Stanth, but they are generally treated as warriors for all purposes except organized battles.

Nodes are responsible for maintenance of Stanth archives, and management of Stanth's information. Because management of information includes directing the movement of Stanth's members who are conducting missions in the field, all but minor nodes technically hold higher rank than warriors. Like the warriors nodes also have sub-ranks; minor nodes, general nodes, senior nodes, field nodes, and librarians. Ranks within the nodes are based on talent; minor nodes are the lowest ranking nodes, and have the same rank as warriors.
  • Minor nodes are tasked with maintaining the archives, and learning its layout. Aside from librarians, minor nodes are the smallest rank of nodes, as most nodes advance quick enough to become general nodes fairly quickly.
  • General nodes are referred to merely as "nodes" and are tasked with maintaining and organizing the archive, keeping information that is relevant near the "newer" areas, as well as pushing irrelevant information to the "older" areas. "Newer" and "older" are relative, as the entire library was built at more or less the same time. Senior nodes are the largest group of nodes. If the senior nodes' hands are all tied, general nodes sometimes perform duties generally reserved for senior nodes.
  • Senior nodes are mainly tasked with organizing information received from field nodes, as well as relaying information between field nodes, and to general nodes to be archived. Senior nodes will also be called to operate the smaller observatories,
  • Field nodes are sent on missions to relay information back and forth between senior nodes and warriors. Field nodes are only sent out with groups of warriors, and generally are as talented as senior nodes. When not on field missions, field nodes act as senior nodes, and hold the same rank. Unlike most other nodes, field nodes have intermediate to advanced combat abilities.
  • The nodes ranked as librarian are extremely talented, and tasked almost exclusively with operation of the observatories. When not eating or sleeping, librarians are generally seen asking general nodes to retrieve information for them, or hurrying to one of the observatories. The librarians currently number eight, six women and two men.

Elders are the absolute senior members of Stanth, who oversee and direct all of Stanth's larger movements. All elders hold equal rank.

Stanth's sub-ranks dictate authority, although they are usually ignored except in the cases of elders, librarians, and generals.
  1. Elders hold the most authority in Stanth.
  2. Followed by the elders are librarians and generals, who hold the same authority.
  3. Senior nodes and field nodes are next, and hold the same authority
  4. General nodes and veteran-rank warriors hold the same authority
  5. Warriors
  6. Minor nodes
  7. Soldier-rank warriors

Stanth fortress is carved of pure stenet ore, and built in the shape of a circle, with five towers spaced equally apart. The fortress is anchored to the mountain with massive chains, also made of stenet ore. The way to enter Stanth Fortress is actually a bridge on one of the chains that anchors Stanth Fortress down. Stanth Fortress has eleven floors, with the fifth sixth and seventh devoted to the archives. The sixth floor also houses the five lesser observatories, and the main observatory. All of the important areas are generally built in the shape of pentagons or circles, which most members of Stanth notice rather quickly after their introduction to the neutral pentagram.

As a matter of fact, most of Stanth Fortress' architecture is designed to incorporate the pentagrams and defensive inscriptions carved into the floors and ceilings. This is actually rather strange, since the art of actually carving stenet ore is lost; there are techniques to shape stenet ore by magically removing or attaching pieces; stenet ore is outrageously hard, but Stanth Fortress was quite obviously carved by something harder. Whenever the main observatory is free, there are generally three or four librarians using it to discover the way in which stenet ore is created.
All of the rooms in Stanth Fortress have magical circles that may be activated for light and heat.

Edit2: DarkKnight thought of something else to add, as did I.

People generally join Stanth through invitation; people who are show the will and talent are given the opportunity to join, usually by field nodes. There are also several families that have been in Stanth for generations, and children whose parents are members of Stanth generally become members of Stanth themselves.

The minds of all members of Stanth are generally viciously protected by ancient spells, that require extreme amounts of skill to break. The spells are somehow woven that intruders may be led to unimportant areas of information by someone who is familiar with the person whose mind is being invaded.

Can't think of anything else for the moment, please approve of everything. Also, please note that the main observatory takes days to weeks to properly focus, and the slightest inaccuracy can result in seeing something completely irrelevant. That's why the five minor observatories are there, but they can only see through space.
