Wild guess, are you trying to use JNGP with the latest patch?

JNGP does not work after 1.26, you need to use WEX instead.

Inside a compat folder in your wc3 installation dir.

What information or settings exactly do you require?

Is there a way to change the location, where the copy gets generated in? However, I could just move it manually.

Of you move it it won't work/create a new compatibility folder in wc3 directory. There are no plans for a setting
