Naga Lumber Mill

This bundle is marked as pending. It has not been reviewed by a staff member yet.
This is a Naga Lumber Mill building made in the thread here: [SD/Modeling] - Improve the naga building model

It is made mostly by Retera, starting from the Naga Lumbermill Test file from @Maxwell but mostly remaking it.

Naga Lumber Mill (Model)

I don't think that word means what you think it means.
Niche means it's an interest not shared by many people. In slang it can mean something neutral, just an interest that few people share, or it can mean something a bit more critical. For example “that's quite niche” could mean “that's pretty unusual!”

Let's stop this nonsense conversation. You think it's very useful and I think it's niche and that's fine.

Then I guess you think wrong lol, lumber mills are commonly sought after, especially by people working on custom factions in a game that uses lumber as a resource.
Perhaps the best idea would have been to not quote me directly for sharing a positive reaction to a resource, just to argue that you think something is niche (which would indicate it, being a lumber mill, is "a specialized segment of the market for a particular kind of product or service") instead of being "very useful" - incidentally, the two are not mutually exclusive. If at any point you did not wish to argue, you could have simply... not started an argument.

I will make a version with team color later or maybe this weekend. It makes me feel old to think I forgot something so important.
That will be very useful, thank you :cgrin: (let's hope I don't have someone try to argue team colour is actually quite niche)

Yeah not to add fuel to the fire, but I agree with Wazzz; "niche" isn't a very applicable term here. "Niche" could be used to describe something very specific & unique that only fulfills a certain 'role' in a project (like a bespoke character model, or an anime-style model, or a flying hippo with a unicorn horn). Racial Lumber Mills are pretty much widely accepted & sought-after; basically everyone making a Naga faction will need one.

It could be said to be "unique", how it features the giant stone seahorse. But not "niche", IMO.

We all get old, man. xD

That's a bit of a condescending way of not accepting difference of opinion. The sarcasm was not needed I think.

I'm going to update this post with the above version that has some team color. But I'm on a computer that only has Warsmash and not original War3, and I don't actually know if the way I did the spines renders the same on the original game. Would be interested to see if someone wants to test it and take a screenshot

You still working on Warsmash?

I'll be happy to give it a test if it helps out

EDIT: Here we go

This one's from the World Editor:

Ok thanks, yea let me know how it looks. The spines are using Modulate2x so I don't have to bother making a new texture but this also might not actually render correctly in the fan programs. So my screenshot (Retera Model Studio) and the "View in 3D" button, and even if I try to take a screenshot "ingame" on my computer (with the emulated game that is based on those other 2 programs) might all render one way. But the DirectX Game.dll might render a different way. I am not certain that we ever fully understood the math behind Modulate2x

Thanks! Looks like so. Maybe Module2x was fixed in the previewers.

Mine seems to be pretty much the same like intended.

Anyway this TC was added on a laptop trackpad without a mouse. Feel free to criticize. Meanwhile the person who originally asked for this file wanted something different. Maybe on the weekend I'll get to that.
