Map Info:

This is a first personish horror survival map. You can either team up with other survivors and kill the minotaur or try to escape. There are many items and NPCs in the labrinth that can help you achieve either of these goals. You can play solo or online, good minotaur and villager AI is here for any/all empty slots!

The problem with this map is that it's ever drastically changing by whole new features, systems, and ideas being added and removed with the coming and going of different users working on the map. This simply isn't ready yet, map rejected. I HIGHLY recommend a map development thread be created to get attention, tips, ideas, and help you need, as this map has a ton of potential.

NOTE: My previous approval moderation was a mistake and was not following moderator guidelines.

Okay.... So first some things:

1. You must stop the music at the beginning of the map, then play yours so they do not play on top of each other, you can only hear the Blizzard Music. Also about the chase music, you should make it so that only the player can hear and and disable the Horror Music when it's active. Additionally I wasn't able to find a trigger where you disable the chase music and continue normal one, when the Minotaur is not in the range anymore.

Secondly could you please add LOCUST to those critters and other small minor things, it's confusing to find shadows and healthbars but nothing else and their name is "!" or "!?" and then you must figure out they are traps by taking damage. Really bad idea. Player should know what they are without walking into them.

Also, does those spiders have some kind of point in the game? I did not find any triggers or did not gain anything even as I killed some of them. Also they are really small ingame so it's hard to see what they are trying to be. Add locust to them as well, those healthbars are just annoying.

Another annoying thing I noticed that some of the items (Dagger) are really difficult to pick up due the size of their item model. Fix that error as well. Another problem about the items is that you can deal damage to yourself with Bow + Arrow. I'd also like to point out that the item's name could be Bow&Arrows instead of just one arrow.

The map feels rellly monotonic and isn't really scary or intense. I wondered in the labyrinth for good 14 minutes and I did not even see the minotaur. Neither was I able to find Minotaur AI triggers from the Editor.

Sorry but you really need to fix those things and add new features.

A user must be minotaur, has to be multiplayer. Have 0 clue how to do AI. I've never heard any blizzard music or heard that others have before, but ill make the trigger to stop it cause obviosuly it can be an issue, thanks for the report. Spiders are decoration, ill specifically mention in quests that spiders are decoration. the whole thing with renaming the traps, sure, probs a good idea, ima do that. and yeah i know items are hard to pick, tried uping selection and model size, doesnt seem to help. About sound chase music playing for just the one person near it, spent like 3 hrs trying to figure that 1 out, no success. It doesnt seem to work as 3d sound, looked up tutorials, didnt help. and theres no trigger im aware of that says "play sound for player" its just play sound. and locusts, like flying around like flies as decoration, or walking around like the spiders? And yeah items can hurt self, i mean you could kill urself with bow and arrow, or dagger, in real life, so why not right :p lol, ill try to fix but idk how id do that cause i still want to make it so they can kill allies with them. And ill fix those grammar/spelling mistakes too. Thanks for the notes and such, ill update at some point. OH and for additional features...idk what to add to make map more exciting. not a clue. something to make it more exciting, that doesnt change the nature of the game is what is desired, any thoughts, lemme know.

You didn't find any minotaur by playing alone, HOW SURPRISING !

I find your post pretty offensive against mine which I do not like, I based my comments on my experience on the map and on the information that I got. I did not read anywhere that the minotaur has to be a player. Neither did the map give you too much time to read through them. I don't really like your attitude against my comments, they are really rude and offensive, which is not good here in Hive. Instead of pushing down and calling other ideas stupid find out alternative ways to bring out your opinion.

About the traps, if you want to make them undetectable I'd recommend you to remove their shadow and add "Locust" ability to them.

About the music I still think you should work on the triggers, as the music is supposed to boost up the player's horror whom is chased.

Another note: If the map needs the minotaur and runners to work properly why is it allowed to play it without minotaurs or any runners? It should automatically shut down when there is no chance to function or in-game system to set a new minotaur if one leaves.

OK spent like 3 hours adding npcs and quests and shit, and the game gets corrupted and functions stop working every time. WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ME. litterally i make a trigger like, make NPC say text, and all of a sudden the scoreboard doesn't work. LEGIT, NOT EXADURATING, AND I EVEN REDID IT WITH THE PREVIOUS MAP VERSION SAME THING. UGH. with that being said, im not sure if i can edit any more on this map without it corrupting, which is sad but...how it is.

that'd be great. do i email to u or can i send it in a message on hive or what? also if u want i do need help with other stuff. like locusts, ai, music thing, and a few other things i cant seem to figure out. need someone to co-create with me, because this is my first serious map...and i can't do all I want to to make the map great.

A cool horror map which still needs to be improved though. Here is my review:-

BAD POINTS:-
- The first thing is the name of the map. It is called "Minotaur's Labrynth". Well, this "Labrynth is wrong. The right spelling is Labyrinth
- It is really bad that you need to play this game in multiplayer. A horror map is always made to be able to be played in single player. I would have appreciated an AI for the Minotaur or for the Villagers if I wanted to be the Minotaur
- I'm disappointed that I can attack the item "Despair" (as all others). You may give it 500000 HP but it's unprofessional to leave it attackable
- You cannot make the hotkey of Adrenaline "A". There are 5 letters which must never be set as hotkeys for units' abilities. "H", "A", "M", "P", "S". Those are hotkeys of the common orders like attack and patrol so let's say I want to attack a spider and I accidently press the hotkey "A". I will uselessly activate Adrenaline
- I found a Dagger but I was concerned to see that I can use it on myself. What about if the Minotaur is just in front of me but I mislick and use Dagger on myself? It would be a disaster! This is because the ability of this item is originally taken from Finger of Pain that can be cast on allies, self and enemies. I also noticed that the red lightning still appears for a millisecond and that the lightning impact appears clearly too. This is not a well-done dagger
- Another total-failure item is the Bow & Arrows whose ability was taken from Rain of Fire. I mean, I should be able to use it against a single target, not in an area. Also, it was suprising to see that when I hit a target, it is lit on fire! That's impossible with common arrows!
- Some items are very hard to click. I spend about 20 seconds approximately to pick up weapon items like Dagger and Bow & Arrows. This is terrible because the Minotaur detects my location every 20 seconds and spending too much time to pick an item is too time-wasting. Also, the "Buckler is impossible to pick up
- It's annoying to be able to select the traps
- You didn't use a lot of doodads to decorate the labyrinth. I didn't see any Trash or Skull on Stick. There are also very few Remains Scorched, an essential doodad for this map. Even some archways would have been good. I probably know why you didn't put many doodads. They block the pathway right? Wrong if you know what to do in the Object Editor. I'll tell you in Suggestions
- It's also unprofessional to see that the Minotaur has still upgrades which can be researched for him. The fact is that in game, you may have noticed the "0" in the attack icon and the armor icon. It is really simple to remove them (look at Suggestions)
- Why does the Minotaur use War Stomp with the Attack Slam animation while he has a very cool Spell Slam one more suitable? Same thing for Hurl Boulder. The Attack Slam animation would be better than the Spell one
- Where is the credits list for the models you used? It's very important to make it immediately to avoid a sure rejection


SUGGESTIONS:-
- Fix the spelling mistake of "Labrynth" to "Labyrinth"
- Try to create an AI for the Minotaur at least. You may let the minotaur randomly attack-move through the map periodically and when he comes nearby a Villager, let the Minotaur use his spells and chase the villager. Things like that to make the game playable in single player
- You can make items invulnerable via triggers. Add a command after all items have spawned from the Item category called "Pick Every Item In Region And Do ACtion". Then, click on Action and go to the Item category again, select "Make Invulnerable/Vulnerable. Change (Last created item) into (Picked item) and you're finally done! If you this result, you did it correctly:-

  • Item - Pick every item in (Playable Map Area) and do (Item - Make (Picked Item) Invulnerable)
- Change the hotkey of Adrenaline to "D" or to any other hotkey which is not one of the five I listed above
- To fix the Dagger spell, instead of setting Graphic Delay and Graphic Duration to 0.01, you can simply go to Art - Lightning Effects and remove Finger of Death. Then, to add a bloody effect, go to Art - Target and change Finger of Death (Archimonde) to a bloody effect from "Spawned Effects". I personally like the BloodElfSpellThiefBlood but you can use anyone you want
- For the Bows & Arrows spell, don't make it Rain of Fire. Instead, use Firebolt. Set the Stats - Duration - Normal to 0.01 and damage to how much you want. Then make the missile the arrow and you're done with this too
- Look, the items are too hard to select. You should give them the common "gold chest" model. Attachment models like the sword and buckler were not made to be easily selectable and be made into item models but only to be "attached" (hence the name) to units
- Use more doodads to decorate the labyrinth. Just set to NONE the pathing texture for the doodads you'll use from the Object Editor ---> Doodads ---> Search the doodad you want to use ---> Pathing - Pathing Texture ---> NONE. Now you can use them and they'll not block the way. Some archways coloured gray (128 Red, Green and Blue) would be really nice too. Just don't apply them where there are traps and items otherwise they cannot be seen
- Talking about the traps, add to them the ability Locust to avoid selecting them
- Change the animations used for War Stomp and Hurl Boulder. This can be done from Art - Animation Names. It's the first option of all abilities. For War Stomp, add a string and type in it spell. Now you should have the word spell and below it the word slam. For the Hurl Boulder, delete both spell and throw and add two strings. One called attack and the other one called slam
- To remove that "0" for the Minotaur, search for the Minotaur in the Object Editor and go to Techtree- Upgrades Used. Delete everything: "Steel Armor", "Steel Melee Weapons" etc...
- Create a credits list where you list the names of the creators of the models/icons/skins you used in your map (very crucial)


OVERALL RESULT
And finally, I'd say this map has some chances of becoming a good horror map. But for now, I will give it 2/5 and AWAIT UPDATE!

Sorry, but I am not able to help you the way I was planning.

  • Item - Pick every item in (Playable Map Area) and do (Item - Make (Picked Item) Invulnerable)

Couldn't he just remove the "Attack Targets : Item" from the units that players can control? It would do the same trick without triggers. (I think).

Aww, its alright. yeah im still working on map, but again, i'm just not that good at map making and don't have 100 hours to work everything out quickly. a pro mapper could do all the stuff in 20 hrs i assume but, i have to look at tutorials and trouble shoot almost everything i do. so it may take a really long time but the map will eventually be really good. and i have a credits list! its in quests in game, should it be somewhere else?

I think it's important to have credits list here on hive workshop as well.

About the Locust, it's no custom ability, it's original Blizzard ability, just search for "Locust" on standard unit abilities in the object editor. What locust does is that it makes the unit lose it's patching (you can walk through it and vice-versa and the unit cannot take damage from any external source (another units). Only if the unit has negative regeneration it or via triggers it can be damaged. Additionally, it becomes impossible to select the unit, it cannot be selected which of course means there is no health bar shown either.

EDIT:- The map has been greatly updated. I highly recommend to all people who tried the earlier versions of this map to replay it again.

This map description is poor as dirt.

You can edit the description by doing this:
Open a random reply to anyone, go Advanced.

Open a new browser tab and visit this link: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/miscellaneous-tutorials-456/map-description-templates-171659/

Go here and pick anyone of -Kobas- map description templates.
Copy the new template to the reply tab, and edit it as you see fit.
Hit preview as many times as you need so you can see how it would look.

Then when you are done, copy the map description and update the map so
it shows on top of the maps section.

Voila! You just got more people to look at your map and it has a shiny description that would entice people to at least give it a try.

I'd love to give this map a try, but I read its a horror survival... I'm a sissy about horror movies and games and I get easily scared :> so this map isn't for me.

I kept wondering and I found despair, and found the Minotaur fighting an ally (dem AI is smart). My allies died one by one but left the Minotaur with one-shot health (yeah, I'm on whosyourdaddy but the health is really really little).

Was fun, even though I didn't on the sounds I really got scared.

Wow the AI got 10/10 and it's still improving! You know, I am trying to let the AI make the same things a human would do but of course it's no easy task.

Upcoming updates:

- More bloody doodads
- One extra region of crippling fog
- You'll not be able to pick similar items e.g two Mithril Axes. Charged items will just increase their charges
- One extra item (Bronze Boots) for increasing your movement speed by 20 (not enough to become faster than the Minotaur however! Just to give you a greater speed to escape and explore the labyrinth)
- Hardcore Minotaur mode and Normal mode will be implemented. Normal is the one you play now,. In Hardcore, there will be NO Despairs so it'll be only you and the Minotaur >:) Have fun err... have terror!
 
I could disable the "iseedeadpeople" cheat in someway
Indeed, because it ruins the feel of the game.

Trigger:
Player chats iseedeadpeople

call Cheat("iseedeadpeople")
That's an auto disable
already useless against the Minotaur because his player is a "User" not "Computer".
Oh, I see, so my AI allies were really good for them to leave it one-shot. :3

The rules state that the maps should be leakless. So im unsure of how this was approved. But the gameplay is great. Whats the point of rules if not followed.?
Edit- I did not realize how bad the leaks were till now, There is way too many leaks for this to have been completely checked.

I said that I'll be trying to fix the leaks as soon as I can but it's really bad that you reduced your rating from 4/5 to 3/5 just for the leaks. I don't see that they cause heavy lag in game so they are not a very big issue as you would like me to believe. Then, I am sure that there are many maps with some leaks that have been approved so I don't see the point of rejecting this map simply because of leaks.

Its in the rules. every trigger in this map has a leak. "Center of region, random point in region" etc.... im not voting for rejection, simply lowering my rating till its fixed.
And they wont cause lag in single player, but if playing with my friend online for instance, he has awful net, so this can make it alot worse for him.
Btw good job on this map shadow. You practically made it for him.

Can you make an option to reduce the props/doodads? Because I think some people (including me and some of my friends) dont have a very good computer but an old one for working and wants to entertain ourselves, and cant really play the map due to the low fps. If possible it would be very appreciated :)

This map is amazing, however the camera is very awkward. Would be nice if it was not fixed to your character. If you can find an alternative, that would be very convenient.

Unfortunately, I have no idea on how to remove props in game. There are np triggers to do that but I can do something for you. I can post in the pastebin a version of the map with less props and doodads just for those who have old computers. If you agree, I'll implement this plan.

The camera is purposely made to be attached to the character to resemble a realistic situation where you see everything as if you are materially walking in the labyrinth. Believe me, any other type of camera would seriously ruin the atmosphere and gameplay.

It should be so but as I created most of the map, I consider it one of my own maps, that's why I still work on it. Oh, so you know how to remove the props. I would really like to know how.
