So, i recently thought about a suggestion concerning the relations between moderators and users as there were some disagreement lately..

So, how about Mediators?
Wikipedia said:
Mediators use appropriate techniques and/or skills to open and/or improve dialogue between disputants, aiming to help the parties reach an agreement (with concrete effects) on the disputed matter. Normally, all parties must view the mediator as impartial.
So basically, Mediators can be 'used' to clarify mod-user-related-arguments and/or problems.. or even to prevent them fully.

Let me hear your opinion on that ;)

How exactly are they going to prevent/break up arguments or conflicts? I doubt the Hive needs Mediators. If you have a problem with a Moderator, talk to them. Or contact the Admin via the Contact Admin forum. Mediators aren't necessary for the Internet really. I guess Blizzard uses something similar on their sites to have a connection between the developers and the fans, but I think they just call them moderators.

I think it's basically not a bad idea, but I don't think it could work out well. Could lead to unnecessary conflicts, and I think we have enough already. I say let's keep the admins and the admin contact forum as the settler of mod-user problems.

So who solves the conflicts between the Mediators and another party? It just seems circular.
states my thoughts exactly.

People will always house a variety of opinions, and, by extension, conflicts. Adding a whole new rank with the hopes of them "settling" an argument will only result with them adding to it or starting a whole new one.

Don't like a moderator? Talk to an admin about it. Don't like an admin? Talk to another admin or the webmaster about it. Will no admin agree with you? Then, my boy, you are probably wrong, or should suck it up, because nothing's going to change.

While its not harming, its not solving anything. Your just putting an open door between the problem.

Rather then make a few users feel special, it wont help much. We might as well keep things simple instead of complicating matters and not really solving anything.

How about a group of people whose job it is to make sure everything runs smoothly? How about then giving them powers over both mods and users so they can knock heads together when needed.

*files patent for admins/directors/shamans/whatever*

Uh buddy thats what a moderator is to make sure everything runs smoothly and have the powers of a mod and a user. x/

And who mediates between mediators and moderators? And between mediators and users? It will just create another layer between users and moderators, difficulting even more communication rather than improving it.

Yes, arguement is how most people function. It's how I've learnt a lot of what I know. I put my preexisting information up on the table, and wait for someone to prove me wrong. If no one can, I win, if not, I've learnt something new.

Same way with conflicts like these. It's all a learning experience. If the moderator makes a mistake, the Admin sorts it out, the Moderator learns. It's all a necessary part of this website, because Mods aren't perfect. They need to learn too.
