and in almost all Bollywood movies there are anti-Muslim and anti-Pakistani scenes, so yea...

That's not true. My Girlfriend is Indian and I watch a crapload of Bollywood movies. I haven't seen one with an anti-Pakistani scene.

In fact, Veer-Zaara is completely the opposite.

EDIT: Also, it could just be that she avoids those movies too. So meh.

YES I do HATE Gays, not lesbians tho.

Sorry, this makes no sense to me. Are you sexist?

Just so you know,
Saudi Arabia = Is not Islam.
Just because Muhammed lived in Saudi Arabia doesn't make the country to a religion.
Many people get confused, If something happens in Saudi Arabia they will think it has something with Islam to do, 15% of the muslims are Arabs, Yes 15%.
I mean many people call them selves muslims but do nothing a muslim is meant do [Except not eating pork] as an example.

Islam is not a culture or any nation, It's a religion.
There are people who believe less and some more in Muslim Countries.

I can't understand why Women aren't allowed to drive cars or W/E they're not allowed to do.

The Saudi Arabian king is a bit weird IMO.

What do you mean by Saudi Arabia = Is not Islam? It isn't a muslim country?

Yes, But if someone in Saudi Arabia kills his wife every one goes ''LEIK WATLOL MUSLIMS KEELS DER WIVES!!11''.

I mean, If someone does anything in Saudi Arabia everyone will think it has something with Islam to do.

*Edit*
Indians hate muslims because Kashmir which is a province split up to 3 [China,India & Pakistan] has 90% muslims and is filled with Indian soldiers who constantly break the Humanitary laws or W/E they're called.
They just want Freedom ^_^, I don't support either Pakistan nor India in this conflict, I support Kashmir who needs independence. Just so you know my avatar is an image that displays Kashmirian Rebels.

What firelord is trying to say is that Saudia Arabian muslims are kind of "Extremists" in their own way. They arent terrorists, but they follow the Qu'ran literarly even though many elements are out dated and have been modernized for modern muslims like myself and Firelord.

Wugiboy Why the hate

Anyways... Just to get this out there...

YES I do HATE Gays, not lesbians tho.

And Yes I DID hate Muslims, but only because I incorrectly believed that it was a brutal religion that bleated their wives, and killed "non believers". My parents are from India, and... Indians usually HATE Pakistanis, who are Muslim, and in almost all Bollywood movies there are anti-Muslim and anti-Pakistani scenes, so yea...

no hate

just got too annoyed of you trolling there and posting something homophobic/anti-muslim
but anything anti-kittens is good..

but I guess its good that your views on Islam is changing so be open on a lot of things not just the stereotypes okay?

I can understand what you guys are saying about Saudi Arabia, but the world views it as an Islamic state. Thus all the misconceptions, I suppose.

LOL load of bull. Please read more about the situation. Pakistan was going to invade kashmir, so the prince of Kashmir gave Kashmir to India, so that Pakistan cant invade Kashmir.

Hated the movie myself, Indian movies are soooo... Um, predictable. Yea, since the guy was Sikh I highly doubt that the girlr becomes a hindu, more likely she stayed a Muslim, since people in India dont hate Muslims. Unlike in Pakistan where there are very few non Muslims, and the non Muslims that are there are discriminated against.

Hmm. I've seen plenty of Indians who hate Pakistani's, but not because of their religion. Hell, SRK is Muslim. I can't say I know many Pakistani's, to be honest.

But the majority of this is slightly off-topic. Also, if you couldn't notice I avoided the last 3-4 posts :)

Also, like any other major religion, it's based on rules made thousands of years ago, and as such is incredibly unfit for modern societies.
Show me one.
most christians and jews (and other faiths of course) have accepted the fact that those rules are out of date and should not be followed.
So don't follow the laws about not murdering? Again, find a law that doesn't work today.
This is a really rough and vague, don't quote me please. :p
Disclaimers FTW.
Oh and to add to Elenai, there are six (correct me if I'm wrong) pillars of Islam.
Pretty sure it's 5, but I could be wrong too.
Explain what you mean and tell me where you have got all this information from.
I can tell you one place it didn't come from. :p
Do not ever try to read about Islam on the Internet, Anything can come out from the Internet
If you want to read about Islam on the internet then
Find a copy of the Qur'an.
Let me guess, your the type of person who learns about Islam by looking at media coverage of Iraq?
Or thinks Bush is representative of Americans? :p
Most of the rules are generic, rather then specific. And can fit into any time period.
They can be real specific. But they're specific to something static, namely, the human brain.
That is completly false. Infact, the Prophet mohammed taught that the gift of Islam should be presented upon people, but not enforced.
As if you could force someone to believe something, right?
Alcohol is forbidden
Pretty sure it is actually only wine that is forbidden.
and so is any form of drug, etc..
I have never heard of any such thing.
Seriously, where the fuck do you people get this shit from? CNN?
It is the most trusted name in news, after all. I know this because they told me so themselves.
one word

Wikipedia

/thread
Not quite. Wikipedia does not contain an exact copy of the Qur'an so far as I know.
I only dislike 2 religions, scientology and Islam.
Because you know them so well as to judge an entire religion?
People say Islam isnt a bad religion, yet there are quotes fromt he Quaran that seem to be the oppposite.
Context.
Maybe what im reading from the internet is a bad translation.
Arabic is very, very, very, difficult to translate into another language. Unless you can read Arabic, the quality of what you are reading is diminished.
O ye who believe! Fight the Unbelievers who are near to you and let them find harshness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him. (S.9, A.123)
Nothing about murder. This could just mean simple hostile flaming and such. Many of the words you read in the quote you do not understand, because the English is but a fraction of the Arabic.
Point in case: "Unbelievers" To start, a more accurate translation is "deniers", and even that you don't understand as a mere word.
This seems to say that ALL unbelievers should be fought.
And I quote:
O ye who believe! Fight the Unbelievers who are near to you and let them find harshness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him. (S.9, A.123)
This one seems to state that those who reject Islam should be killed.
That's because you're picking out a phrase form the real meaning.
For example:
"Kill people that are murderers."
You can crop that to
"Kill people"
and lose the real meaning.
And fight them [unbelievers] on until there is no more persecution, and religion becomes Allah's in its entirety but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do. (S.8, A.38)
This seems to say fight if you are persecuted, but it also says that only stop once they convert to Islam.
Notice how it starts with "And"? "them"?
This quote actually has about zero meaning without context.
There are alot more. if someone can clear up any bad translations that would be great. I still cant take Islam to be a good religion after seeing the extremists, and learning about whats in the quaran.
Pay no heed to the extremists.
or in short those books(bibles, qu'ran, and torah) we're written back in the time that was sexist(about women and wives and they we're seen as "properties of men") trigger happy violence(crusades and jihads) and just downright different from our time
It says otherwise in the Qur'an. Eh?
They read a proper interpretation of the Quoran
Well we try to. It's very hard to come by.

Relating to wives, to most you can do it hit them with a stick the size of a pencil or something.
And no, not hard enough to welt or something.

Women practically have it made in Islam.

More than anything:
The single thing you can use to judge Islam is the Arabic Qur'an.

wine, along with all alcoholic drinks are prohibited in Islam- wine is the same as vodka, if u drink either, youll get drunk- so the only difference is the name,

and drugs are also prohibited because they make you crazy. the effects are same, theyre all intoxicants, therefore prohibited, BUT cigarettes and smoking are allowed as long as they dont have intoxicant stuff, like normal cigarettes are fine

Uhm no?
Cigarettes are Not allowed.

I never said the Quran was outdated, Never did I say the Sunnah's are.
I agree with Hakeem, Try to find One out dated verse before you claim something.
It's very hard to translate the Quran into any other language, Like the Swedish translated Quran, They call [Isa] Jesus, Jesus.
And Jesus means Masiah in Greek or was it Latin.

Thats a fatal mistake to call Jesus Jesus in the translation of the Quran, He should be called Isa like he does in every other translation.

Another question because I'm too lazy to search for answers on the unreliable net:

As far as I know there is no head of Islam here on earth (ie. the Pope). I remember hearing of a group of religious leaders coming together to discuss things like updating rules, or addressing new problems in the world. Basically is there a leader(s) of the Islamic faith (that aren't dead)?

Also how many prophets are there/is there still prophets today? What are the criteria to be proclaimed a prophet/are prophets proclaimed here on earth or after they die?

Islam is like Christianity but we just differ in some issues. They aren't evil, Christians are evil too. Well, i'm a christian. But these muslims are my friends. But there is a war here in the Philippines. Christianity vs. Muslim in Mindanao. They wanted to be a seperate country, they want to be seperate from Philippines.

these leaders are for shiat islame (like me) not sinna, they are the wise people who studied islame since they were 10, they solve people problemes
But leaders, no the prophet was the last leader of the islam united

there are more than 20000 prophet over the history (including Jesus known as issa son of mariam, noah, ... )
the last prophet was muhamad
there are no prophet after him

prophet are choosen from god, and they can prove them selves by miricales

The books are hardly sexist... The New Testament (Christianity) was widely accepted by women BECAUSE it offered equality to men.

The Old and New Testaments told wives and husbands to be obedient and loyal in marriage... I guess its just too sexist to ask not to cheat.

I have yet to see one verse in the Old Testament or New Testament that says,

"If you wife does not make you dinner, beat the hell out of here...so sayeth I the LORD your God."

And of course the old laws in Leviticus and etc are strict because at the time strict laws were needed.

Of course Christ came a long and pointed out, that while the laws were indeed just, that no one is innocent enough to make the judgements themselves.

"You who are sinless, Cast the first stone"

As for trigger happy Jihads and Crusades, I will note that there has never been or ever will be a "holy war" initiated by man, because all war has an unholy beginning, and unholy actions through out it, where faith is a pawn and tool, not the root.

And people these days are STILL trigger happy. Violence didn't just disappear when you were born you know. Humanity has hardly changed for the better in the 10'000 years civilization has been around.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's very hard to translate the Quran into any other language, Like the Swedish translated Quran, They call [Isa] Jesus, Jesus.
And Jesus means Masiah in Greek or was it Latin.
The names and titles for Christ are relatively numerous: But the two main ones (aside from Immanuel) are The Messiah, and Jesus Christ.

The Messiah is a Hebrew word that has been transformed in its sound (as words often are) into Greek, and then anglicized into "Messiah".

Jesus is the Anglicization of the Greek word Iesus, which was Greecized from the Hebrew name Yeheshua, or "Joshua".

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

prophet are choosen from god, and they can prove them selves by miricales
Correct me if I am wrong, and try not to take this out of context...But did Muhammad ever perform miracles?

I have my own copy of the Quar'an (albiet english translated)...and I have not seen a Muhammedian Miracle. Though I haven't actually read it all the way through, just the stuff concerning the relationship of Muslims and Christians...which disturbed me to be honest...But I hope I wont have to elaborate.

Quar'an is writen in a anciant complex arabic language, if you understand this language youl know the true meaning of quar'an
Prophet mohamed first miracle was when god send him gabriel the first time, to tell him he was a prophet, he suddenly known how to read, and he have never known how to read in his life, its in quar'an, we say his biggest miracle is the Quar'an
The Quar'an: is the words of the god send to muhamad on seperated occations to help him get more beleivers and to teach people about religion history before muhamad.
there are minor miricales that helped mohamed a lot on his quest.
Muslims and cristians beleive in god
but the conflit is between muslims and christians that believe Jesus is god or son of god
quar'an says that god is one never born and never gave birth, and he is the infinite force no one can match him.

Uhm, I'd say the miracle Muhammed got, Is his wisdom & kindness.
An Example: Muhammed used some stick or something, [I don't know what they're called] to clean his teeth, If I'm right those ''sticks'' are being used these days when making tooth paste etc.
I'm not sure how it was.

If I'm right, Muhammed said that Constantinople will be conquered, And after a long time it's conquered.

He stood for days and spoke about the Judgement day, He was given the information about Judgement day and told us [Muslims about it].

And when I said his kindness, You guys should know what a man he was.
No human may be compared [Don't count the prophets] with him [How Kind he was etc].
I've heard that Muhammed had a Jewish neighbour who threw garbage into his lawn all the time.

And when the Jew got sick, Muhammed gave him soup & stuff to make him better.
I'm not sure how it was.

I mean, We have the number off 99[The names of God] & 63 [The age when Muhammed died] on our hand palms. [With Arabic numbers].

Another one:
I forgot where I read this, But the Quran says the world was created of Gas right?

And uhm wasn't big bang caused by Helium which is a gas?
Or wasn't the world created by helium?

The things I said now are things I just got up my mind.
I could probably find out lots of stuff and give you them.

the stick is named Miswak its the origin of all toothpaste, mohamed made it a strong recomandation to brush teeth with the miswak for all muslims

the story of the jewish neighbour: hee had a jewish neighbor who threw garbage infront of muhamed house every morning, days passed until one day muhamad noticed in the morning that their is no garbage, so he new that their is somthing wrong, so he paid the jewish a visit, he found that he is sick, so he helped him to got better

muhammad is the symbole of islame he educate us with his kindness and his wisdom

How is this a miracle? Sounds more like an invention.

To believe this miracle you have to be Muslim. Now this can be a miracle, but it's similar to the miracle of Jesus being both man and God. You wouldn't think it's a miracle because you don't believe it.

And when I said his kindness, You guys should know what a man he was.

Ghandi? He didn't even fight back when the British started killing Indians. Muhammed killed those that fought him. I see Ghandi as a more loving person.

And when the Jew got sick, Muhammed gave him soup & stuff to make him better.
I'm not sure how it was.
Miracle? Just a kind act. I suppose all kind acts are small miracles of a sort, but nothing that would make you a Saint in Christianity.

I mean, We have the number off 99[The names of God] & 63 [The age when Muhammed died] on our hand palms. [With Arabic numbers].

As I said before, The war began after the killing, torturing, persecution, And the looting of their homes.
After One battle they had a 10 year truce which was broken by the Arabs, They killed muslims.

I mean, they were killed, tortured and all because they preached, They did no harm.
There's a huge difference between someone who lived in the year 650 & 1900.
The muslims couldn't go out and demonstrate, You really think they wouldn't of been massacred by Arabs who'd kill them if they just get a sight of them?

Your structure of that post was so poor I'm skipping to the end.

There is a difference, but Jesus never harmed anyone, and look what he did!

I said his miracle is his knowledge & kindess, Not that he used a stick to brush his teeth with.

Any ways, Jesus [Isa] was a prophet in our religion as well.

Doesn't the Holy Trinity mean that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are one and the same?

According to Christian belief, Christ is indeed on with God and the Holy Spirit in a triumvent yet singular existence.

(somethings will be a little inaccurate physically with this example but just..follow it)

You could think of the trinity as water.

Water is the same no matter how you mess with it, it does not change.

All the water on earth is connected, and a is a singular entity even when seperated into its three phases.

You could think of the phases as the three parts of the trinity.

Vapour = God the father. Everywhere, invisible, yet the effect of air is seen, and is needed for life, like breathing and such. And also just about any other thing you can symbolically connect to water vapour especially in the water cycle can be attributed to God the Father.

Liquid = Holy Spirit. Water in liguid form, much like the holy spirit, can cure and comfort, cool when suffering, and acts as a medium between many things in the physical world.

Also like water, it can be scolding hot, and burn when needed to defend against attacks.

Solid = Ice...solid and in a single cube, Christ. God made flesh. Still water, just solid. And by the power of the Holy Spirit and God the Father was incarnated as a babe in the virgin womb of Mary.

Like ice that forms inside something when the vapour is cold, and liquid water is allowed to freeze.

The natural world provides many examples of the nature of God ^^

And it is with water that I often explain the Trinity and God's connection to Christ.

I thought you were going to go with more of a chemical metaphor there, like Oxygen and Hydrogen make water. :p

As far as I know there is no head of Islam here on earth (ie. the Pope). I remember hearing of a group of religious leaders coming together to discuss things like updating rules, or addressing new problems in the world. Basically is there a leader(s) of the Islamic faith (that aren't dead)?
Califs comes to mind, but I don't really know.
Also how many prophets are there/is there still prophets today? What are the criteria to be proclaimed a prophet/are prophets proclaimed here on earth or after they die?
Every people were given a prophet, people with full knowledge of the Qur'an, Mohammad being the last, the prophet for all mankind. As far as I remember, no prophet performed miracles, God performed the miracles.

Also, Mohammad was illiterate. When Gabriel told him to read, he read the Qur'an.

there are many miracles done by god for Mohammad, but they are all small miracles not epic like opening the sea, i knew lots of them and there are many.
and by the way here is something to educate you:
islame are two sinate and chiate, both believe that jesus is not dead but he is protected by god.
chiate muslims beleive in a savior that will come and heal the world
and sinate say there is no savior.
the savior for the chiat is al-mahdi.
they say that when the savior will show, jesus will show with him to help him heal the world in the name of the god.
Just some information i wanted to share
