Anyways, even if newer and better games do emerge, Warcraft III would still be the center game which I'll go back to after every other game, heh.
So yes, it isn't dead.

For me a game dying has several parts

1)Dying as a merchandise - if it stops making sales
2)Dying as a project of its owner/maker - it the owner/maker stops making updates for it and stops support for it
3)Dying as the game itself - when nobody plays it anymore

From these 3, all of them are still false... so wc3 is not dead...

In where I live, there are still stores selling Warcraft III and Warcraft II, and surprisingly, I see people going in daily, to buy them.
So yeah, I doubt Warcraft III is dead.

Sorry but the part 1) is almost completely dead. There are very little people who actually buy the Warcraft III anymore. Thats why battle.net is getting more and more empty while Garena is getting more players.

True. Nobody wants to buy anymore cause you can get the game for free + I heard of some patches which allow using battle.net even if your warcraft is not original.

Tell me 1) and 2) are not happening? 2 of 3 criteria have been met and 3) partially

When was the last time you saw one? And when was the last time they did before that one? And how much time passed since? And those that stay in Garena most of them are who never ever bought war3 not who decided to buy it. It happens with nearly every old game, they can play it for free, stay forever.

It's been dead for the last 5 years.

Silly people. Having a playerbase doesn't mean it's alive.

Speaking of 'older posts', this. Except 'last 2 years' blame SC2 for it. As people were still in war3 before SC2

And if you count someone casually buying the game as sales activity lol, I dont think so. Since Garena is times better than bnet and who give a shit about war3 ladder other than some guys that never had the chance to go high in seven-eight years, all who play play Garena and it doesnt need to buy the game lol. Most Chinese and Rus play it for free. And they plus some guys frm the jungle who have a wooden PC are the ones who make these numbers of activity.

And there has been nothing going on with the meta game since 3-4 years ago now, if you count some casual patch 2 lines fix as support, 'OK' But I also heard it's even more flooded with hackers and seems the control's got loose. Sorry, that's all im gonna say, I dont wanna ruin your imagination any further.

As far as I'm concerned, we have different views on how to define dead, that's why I'm only pointing out things related to my view...

for the older posts, I meant older posts relating to part 1) (I guess that's obvious as I put it on my comment for that part), so that means the posts by Miss Foxy and the others which says that people are still buying wc3...

@Ramza - I agree with you...

I just saw recently that on garena there are 400 000 People online at the moment. +All those who are offline, it could be 2 million people playing warcraft only on garena. There are 10 times more people on battle.net. So, if more than 22 Million people play it, I do not call it "dying".

Warcraft III isn't dead, practically games are created everyday with newer mods and tools, etc.
I heard that Blizzard's working on a new little patch at the moment to fix some things up too.

Well, there are not a lot of hacks. If there's a hack, it's mostly in DotA rooms, in RPG rooms you won't find a lot of hacks. The only problem that Garena has is buggs and disconnects :p

I agree with all of you, Dynamiczx, Vunjo, Miss Foxy, Adiktuz, Ramza and all the others that say Wc3 is not dead. This game lives just because we and all the others around the world like us, think about the game, play it, like it, try new things, contribute in what way we can to it.

Is it fun to play @Garena when it allows all the hacks?

Hacks in Garena? Hell no. Hacking in Garena is more monitored than it is in Bnet, another reason to choose it over Bnet. And who wants to hack his level or something when there is no ladder, just cg?

Garena isn't just another crappy private server, it is not hacked battle net like private servers, it is a Game Client. It really has become the new war3 bnet except for the lack of ladder that is, then again all who played ladder seriuosly are now in sc2, pretty pointless to play bnet. And it's even fuller of haxorz than it was before i heard.

I disagree though, Garena is still good for playing, but Battle.Net is, after all the original server.

Also, there are a diversity of games and such that you'll see more in Battle.Net rather
than Garena (Well, kind of because they mostly play DotA in those DotA Rooms and some other Rooms as well).

Then again, I do play on both servers, but I'd still stick to Battle.Net, kind of because you can also get to play on certain different levels of gameplay (There are well managed clans in there as well) and the fact that even if the hosts leave the game (If they do), you'll still be able to carry on as long as you're able to sustain it.

Cross-Server Hosting right now has kind of made it easier for both servers though, considering you can play on Battle.Net with Garena players and vice versa, but the bot is usually managed and hosted through Battle.Net, so yeah.

So yeah, overall I wouldn't mind both, but I'll still choose Battle.Net

And Warcraft III is far from dead right now.

For DotA players as me, it is not dead at all. By the way, I don't get why no one ever gets punished for insulting DotA players, to me its the same as if someone said "fuck you bitch faggot". Just stop it.

It's not directly cause they play dota. It is cause whenever you die, or do something not so pro, they will be like this:

-OMFG YOU FUCKING NOOBSHIT GO LEAVE!!11ONE

And that's what is bad in them.

Everypony should already be aware that Dota is played very competitively even in pubs. If you are bad you will be called with words. Its pretty harsh indeed but it makes the game good for people who enjoy playing for the win and not just building towers and waiting them to kill waves of creeps.

I agree, even i am not a dota player i would rather play a thausand matches of dota than even play 2 TD matches... I just can't stand the monotonous idea of building towers around a road...

Yet i still do not approve that in dota is mostly about the win, rather than the fun itself.

Totally agree. That's why I don't mind being called noob but I am no longer called noob as at least in SC2's Dota game (Sotis) I don't die much and always play team too bad my fave character is very weak and ez target. After all Dota/Sotis is THEIR territory and ofc I am the noob there just like I would gladly bash Dota noobs should they come to LADDER }:>

Im playing Sc2's Dota casually which is the same as War3's Dota gamewise, and even I who am a noob towards those who do hundreds of games get annoyed when some feeder dies 3 times a minute. Sorry, it's no fun and indeed should rather leave...

Yet i still do not approve that in dota is mostly about the win, rather than the fun itself.

Dota WTF was a lol game and there you couldn't be accused of anything but the Dota game with random abilities was interesting to have a random mixture of other hero's abilities.

Actually, I usually start as a n00b then have the most kills and assists during the end. So, nah it's just that most of them are tard kids who think they are pros just for sitting at pc playing dota 24/7
