Okay, let's say we have 2 places, one is what we call download area at this moment, but we'll rename it to Awaiting Approval section, and there is another section called the Real Downloads area, where only models approved by a specialized staff appear.

So there will be a section with good quality stuff and a section where everything is allowed (besides porn and really bad crap)

That is no doubt the only way to keeps floods of low quality material from coming onto the site. However, I've been to sites that have practiced this policy before, and they have appeared time and time agains to be very elitist and unfriendly. Whether we are or not, it will not change the fact that thats how we will be perceived.

I 100% support the idea of a minimum quality standard, but when people start getting their stuff rejected, they will leave and we will lose them probably forever, which in turn may discourage some future users.

I will show you the problem, the Experts don't like to have their stuff close to certain crappy stuff, and they are leaving the site, Examples: Cookie and whitehorn .

See (http://**** link removed by Vexorian, since the people there don't trust anyone)

The thing is that With this idea people will have a chance to upload their stuff with no problem, while there will be an area where it will be guaranteed that we are only having quality stuff, the site will have both quantity in a section and quality in the other section

I think this is a bad idea, becouse people can decide which skin\icon\model is bad or good without 2 places.
People send skins\icons\models to this site to see what people think of it, not to be top rated.
And there are low rated skin\icon\model that people can use.
If there will be 2 places like you said, i guess most of the people would prepare the top rated skin\icon\model section and wont pay attension to the low rated skin\icon\model section, which is not less important.

Actually I will make sure to check both of them, I am just saying that good resources need an incentive

I have to say im against the idea for the reason that people new to skinning/modeling/iconing need the advice of the people who are good at those things. If the skins the begginers make dont get on the site they dont get feedback from all the people on the site. I mean really whos gona check the section with all the crappy things? You may, Vextorian, but not many others will.

I guess they will have to improve their work then

Personally, I would take it a step futher as far as maps go and make a seperate section for unfinished/beta maps or make it so only completed maps can be posted. It seems like 50% of the maps section is made up of unfinsihed maps. I've been making maps for a while now and I know for a fact that finishing maps is not that hard. Anythig to cut down on the "This is my unfinished project" or "this map is beta only 50% complete" maps.

I mean, updating with new version that fix bugs and such is no problem, its the maps that are unfinished to the point of unplayable or mappers submitting their stuff when they know darn well is not complete and cannot be beat...I mean, take pride in your maps- finish them before submitting.... :(

I think it would be a great idea, the good stuff will be put togeather and bad stuff will be in another thing. In fact, I would love to moderate it by putting the good stuff with good stuff and bad with the bad.
