I hate the icon makers who use the same paths as existing icons!

I grow impatient! Here's one of them:

http://www.hiveworkshop.com/resources_new/icons/3865/

What trigerry is this? It either:

1) Overrides the original icon
or
2) Does not show the disabled passive icon
or
3) Confuse with the original icon unexpectedly

I have spent hours to solve this unsense. Don't waste my time!

Is it this much difficult to give a different path name than the one of an original icon? Icon makers should check more carefully if they give the same path name of an existing icon to their icons. And it's also approved! nice  How did mods check this in-game i don't know.

To the slaughter icon makers like this one!

Yep that would work just fine!

Also, please note:

Iconpack downloaded from http://www.wc3sear.ch/
This particular icon exemplifies the difficulties often caused by unmoderated resources: bugs, errors, conflicts, etc.

That particular icon was imported so as to preserve its use for posterity. My opinion is the same as yours, orospuçocuğu... such an icon will certainly complicate a map maker's life. One of our Icon Resource Moderators may rename and update it, else it will soon be ignored.

No man. Don't think. It doesn't work. You can stay negative.

in fact you can also forget the repathing, default importing paths work too!

not in fact. none of them work. i tried tons of combination. always something wrong. either one of them is green or confuses with the other icon:

-active button
or
-disabled passive button
or
-research button (in hero abilities menu)

..Try and see yourself..and if you can manage to solve it please write down here the correct combination of:

[file names] & [path names] of all 4 icons.

Here it is, in fact, you have to use this format for path:

ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTN*.blp
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTN*.blp
ReplaceableTextures\PassiveButtons\PASBTN*.blp
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISPASBTN*.blp

and you can replace the * by everything you want (the same string in the 4 paths)

that's work for passive skill button, research button, disabled research button
and even disabled passive button when you go in the menu

you should look the mpq with a mpq editor... it's a four buttons system:
Bash4buttons.jpg

it's sure that the disabled passive button is almost never used, but it is required
you see it when you go to the menu with the skilled unit selected

download the upper attached map, remove the DISPASBTN import
then launch the map, make the dwarf learn the ability and type F10
you'll see an uggly green box

Put your hands on your head soldier! You're arrested!

Now man, i have made a small modification on your map which reflects that there is still one thing strange left there. Sharp-eyes always see the details. I am sure you will notice the difference. Good luck!

when i looked your modification in the WE before running map, i supposed that i were going to see the same icon twice, but that's not it, that's work:
2PASBTN.png 2DISPASBTN.png 2BTN.png 2DISBTN.png
(HS: the DISPASBTN isn't correctly done... it is not dark enough)
(EDIT: fixed light rate on this View attachment DISPASBTNCleavingattack.blp)

Did you notice there is 2 errors in the paths given in the download page?
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTN*.blp
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTN* .blp
ReplaceableTextures\PassiveButtons\PASBTN*.blp
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISPASBTN*.blp

if you set path to these one, everything works...

Of course, you replace * by everything you want but not Cleavingattack or an other existing ability name
(in the sample map, i've use "something":
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtons\BTNsomething.blp
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISBTNsomething .blp
ReplaceableTextures\PassiveButtons\PASBTNsomething.blp
ReplaceableTextures\CommandButtonsDisabled\DISPASBTNsomething.blp)

HS: why do i have spaces occur in my posts??? o_O
EDIT: an automatic process to avoid too long words maybe?
test: ############################################################################################################################################################################
REDIT: ok, that's it ^^'

On a sidenote; you can set the path to DISBTN icons in your editor. This can be done under "Game Interface", look for "Path - Command Button Disabled Art".

Also; I use many icons in my map, including PASBTN's, YoshiRyu is correct on this matter, the proper DISBTN designation for PASBTN's is "DISPASBTN".

Yes. It works "at last!"
Congratulations. And thank you! I knew there was great potential in you, my friend. You've done a fantastic job.

Praise be to the Light! You have accomplished the impossible!

This is a great victory indeed, but many more battles await.

Now the circle is complete, I can summon my minions to the mortal realm.

By the way it was annoying isn't it? Who can guess that these little icons could cause such problem!

..But things are going on like this in the world of icons as i can see. It is clear that when you give a path of an existing icon to your customized icon there will always be such situations. So beware!
