Doodads cast their shadow through their model's mesh with the aid of the world light vector as specified in UI\MiscData.txt. The editor has an extra save option to update doodad and terrain shadows as it's expensive to calculate them constantly.
Destructables have a field in object editor Graphic - Shadow (bhsd).
You probably have another language than me. Press CTRL+D to switch to raw display, then search (CTRL+F) for "shadow". If you do not find it this way, make sure that the Graphic category is shown (CTRL+2).
